The Space

This cozy bedroom has a lovely full-sized bed and is nicely furnished. It is very quiet in this space.
The bathroom right next to it is large, light and airy, Depending on the activity in the house you may have to semi-share it, but usually not.
The house is wonderful, built in 1929 as a summer cabin for SF people. Views across the Bay, from Oakland to the Dumbarton Bridge. Amazing garden with a unique "outdoor room" and a hillside full of lavender. Lots of places to explore on this hillside home. Feel free to use the well-equipped kitchen and relax in the living room. Fireplace is available...also a hot tub (with at least a day's notice).
Gorgeous and Taz are the friendliest dogs ever and will greet you effusively (but not in a jumpy way)
Off street parking, brick stairs to the house. Enjoy!

Note that public transit isn't great here. If you are on bike, you will really work hard! There are lots of walking and hiking trails fairly close by, as well as a couple of restaurants only a mile away.

  • We were so glad that we chose Cath's place when we were in town to attend a friend's wedding during the weekend. Cath is wonderful host, very warm and welcoming. • Cath, is the ideal host. wonderful house a gem in the Bay Area. I would highly recommend.

  • I think all who have had the remarkable experience of being one of Cath's guests should just form a fan club. I feel writing a public review is like posting a favorite fishing hole on G- maps, thus spilling the beans on some secret gem. If you find yourself needing to visit Silicon Valley- do yourself a huge favor- don't look any further unless you are certain Cath is booked.

  • Cath's house is beautifully located on op of a high hill overlooking the bay (website hidden) the west of her house (up to the Pacific) there is a dense forest with impressive redwood trees, eucalyptus etc. Unfortunately it was pouring with rain when we were there, but it must be an incredibly pleasant place when the sun is out: the house has a huge terrace with a stunning view and a lovely sloping garden.
Redwood City is nearby (ca 2,5 miles) and ideal for eating out (Cath gave us some very good suggestions).
Cath is a gracious woman, very communicative and easy-going; we immediately felt at ease with her. Her way of dealing with us was very hospitable and pleasant, without being obtrusive.
There were some other guests in the house, and they were as sociable as Cath is.
All in all a very nice experience; we would certainly want to recommend this place to other travelers.

  • Cath and her house are very wam and welcoming. The view is beautiful, just as she describes. Her dogs are very nice and get along with my dog as well. The description fits the house and the room correctly. It's a great deal! Jump on it! Thanks Cath.

  • Cath was amazing. She was extremely accommodating and understanding when my trip plans changed and I wasn't able to stay with her. I hope to stay with her on my next trip.

  • Cath is an amazing host - generous with her time & laughter.

Gorgeous & Taz are amazing company to have around the house too - my wife loves them! I'm not exactly a dog person, but i'm totally sold on those two.

The space is great too, with an amazing view of the bay area. It's a bit of a climb uphill, but if you can afford it you should definitely give it a go.

    We'll be back. =)

  • What a beautiful, welcoming, warm place to stay. Cath stayed up late to greet me after a late, delayed flight. I enjoyed the garden, the dogs and the company immensely. Couldn't be better!

The house is perched atop 1.2 acres with an amazing unobstructed view stretching from Oakland to the Dumbarton Bridge. Trying semi-successfully to grow veggies, yet my garden is lovely---my dogs have the run of the place. Please consider me an excellent resource for the area, as I've lived here for over 20 yrs. and am well connected. I love most music and am a HUGE fan of the Monkee's (so don't hold that against me). Born in Oklahoma yet have travelled quite a bit and have lived in many places. BTW-- In this house we practice the golden rule.
