About this listing
This cozy bedroom has a lovely full-sized futon bed and is nicely furnished. It is very quiet in this space.
The shared bathroom is large, light and airy. It is shared with only one other room.
The house is wonderful, built in 1929 as a summer cabin for SF people. Views across the Bay, from Oakland to the Dumbarton Bridge. Amazing garden with a unique "outdoor room" and a hillside full of lavender. Lots of places to explore on this hillside home. Feel free to use the well-equipped kitchen and relax in the living room. Fireplace is available.
Off street parking, brick stairs to the house. Enjoy!
Note that public transit isn't great here. If you are on bike, you will really work hard! There are lots of walking and hiking trails fairly close by, as well as a couple of restaurants only a mile away.
The kitchen is fully equipped and you are welcome to cook like a storm! Please clean up afterwards. The gardens are there for your enjoyment too, as well as the entire main floor.
Other Things to Note
Note that I have 4 rooms that could be occupied at any given time and the people staying here are always fabulous. If you like dogs, this is a wonderful home. My dogs are super friendly and well behaved. Many people have returned because they love my pets!
We follow the Golden Rule here. Clean up after yourself and be respectful as to noise. There is absolutely NO SMOKING on the premises.
Cath is a heart warming host with three lovely dogs. This place is gorgeous, don't miss it if you're coming to the Bay Area!
Cath's place has a stunning view and I could not ask for a better host than her. Her kitchen is fully equipped and she has a very nice garden you can do your muse, learn about flowers or simply relax in - in fact, her son and I had a meteor watch night camped in the garden.
Cath is helpful with all the requests I had. Developing a good rapport, I was able to borrow her camping gears for upstate trips. I definitely recommend her place to everyone and will live there again.
If you long for a living experience on the mountain where you can see the SF Bay and/or want to live a little away from busy crowds when you are in the Silicon Valley, this is definitely a place to give a try.
- great house
- very welcoming and comfortable
- multiple dogs and pups !
- kind host
- not much else to ask for
Staying at Cath's house was great - she's not kidding about the view, and our room was great, just as described. She was super responsive about logistics and accommodating of our late-night arrival. Would definitely stay here again!
Cath was a great host. Nice home with nice views in a convenient location. I would stay there again without hesitation.
We were warmly welcomed by Cath, even though we arrived late at night. The dining/kitchen area is beautiful with an amazing view. Cath made us strawberry smoothies that were fantastic and as the other guests have mentioned, it is nice to have the espresso machine right there. The bed was really a futon with no box spring, and since there were two of us sleeping it was not perfect. For one person it would have been fine. Everything else was really great. My son loved the dogs and if you are a dog person this is the place for you.
Cath was a great host! She was very prompt with communication and welcoming. I needed a place to stay before making my final move into Redwood City, and her place was the perfect spot. Cath is very knowledgeable about the area and had some great suggestions. Would definitely recommend staying here :)

About the Host, Cath
The house is perched atop 1.2 acres with an amazing unobstructed view stretching from Oakland to the Dumbarton Bridge. My garden was even more lovely before the drought and my dogs have the run of the place. There are 4 rooms available here--2 with private bathrooms, 2 others share a bathroom. All very comfy. This a casual environment--lots of snacks and great coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Also a lot of places to wander and take a moment to yourself and relax.
Please consider me an excellent resource for the area, as I've lived here for over 20 yrs. and am well connected. I love all sorts of food (especially Mexican and Indian) enjoy music and am a HUGE fan of the Monkee's (so don't hold that against me). Born in Oklahoma yet well travelled and have lived abroad as well. NEWS FLASH!!: Like my FB page! Fraser's Perch would love your visit--upload your photos and join the fun at any of our events. Welcome! I look forward to your stay.
