Privacy & cozy comfort close to Michigan's most popular state park, breweries, wineries, antique malls and farm-to-table restaurants. Barbecue grill and fire pit in spacious yard. Private entrance, sitting room, kitchenette. Complimentary coffee, cream and a couple of craft brews. Directly across road from ice skating rink, volleyball and fishing pond. Attached to our furniture showroom. On a 4-lane highway, so some traffic. CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: We sanitize! See more detailed info below.

The space
Coronavirus update: We now block a minimum of three days between visits. This is to enable us to air out the apartment, then thoroughly clean, and finally disinfect per CDC recommendations. Due of the difficulty of cleaning and disinfecting fabrics and leather, upholstered furniture will be covered with clean sheets prior to your arrival. For your safety, please do not remove these.

Morton's Retreat has plenty of room to relax in a sitting/dining room with a smart TV and Wifi. Separate bedroom with desk. Kitchenette provides for simple cooking. Private entrance and parking.

Our house manual and Trails & Ales hiking guide provide information about area breweries, restaurants, entertainment venues, parks, bike and kayak rentals, skating rinks, cross-country skiing, wine & beer tours, and much more.

All guests are provided with locally roasted coffee and cream to get their day rolling. And if you happen to arrive late and thirsty, you'll probably appreciate the couple of complimentary brews we leave for you.

We keep Morton's free of dust and other allergens. Our aim is a clean, healthy and comfortable environment for our guests. We are situated on Red Arrow Highway, so there is some traffic.

Guest access
Morton's Retreat has a large yard with a barbeque grill, fire ring and comfortable chairs for you to relax in. Or wander into our bricked garden to visit our Little Free Library.

Other things to note
We take the COVID-19 pandemic very seriously. This building houses two Airbnb units plus our furniture showroom. The showroom is now open by appointment only, with a limit of two people at a time, masks required. In short, foot traffic through our showroom has been drastically curtailed.

Nevertheless, since the showroom and Airbnb units are heated and cooled by the same system, we are following HVAC guidelines recommended by the CDC:
• Windows and doors are opened daily to increase ventilation. You are welcome to do likewise.
• We have installed the highest filtration compatible with our central air unit, and sealed filter edges to limit bypass.
• When a guest checks out, an ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) lamp is used to sterilize the air and surfaces in each room. The apartment is then ventilated for a day, before being thoroughly cleaned and finally disinfected.
• At the end of every business day, the UVGI lamp is run in the showroom.

Also following CDC recommendations, we have discontinued the use of comforters, throws, bed scarves and decorative throw pillows. Bedding is now limited to blankets and spreads that can be laundered in a home machine, with just two pillows per guest.

We provide every guest with hand sanitizer, a bottle of spray disinfectant, and cleaning rags. What we don't provide anymore is half-and-half, coffee, tea, etc. Please be sure to bring whatever you need.

If you have questions about our procedures, please don't hesitate to contact me.

My husband and I own and operate Center of the World Woodshop. Terry designs and makes furniture, and I sell it in (along with the work of other local artisans) in our showroom. We operate three Airbnb units: two connected to our showroom, another next to our home and shop. Terry and I love to travel, and while we're casual, we're particular about comfort, quality and aesthetics. Each of our Airbnb units is unique, but they all share the same attention to comfort, quality and aesthetics that we appreciate when we travel ourselves. Guests can expect superb attention to cleanliness without a lot of nasty chemicals, complimentary coffee (locally roasted!), plus cream and a couple of welcoming brews in the fridge. These apartments are cozy, comfortable and inviting. Our House Manual and Trails & Ales guide provide a wealth of information about the area's restaurants, breweries, wineries, hiking trails, beaches, and other area attractions.
