About this listing
Guest room with separate bathroom.
Hello and welcome to Kepos Terrace
I will try to provide as much relevant information concerning the house, the location & ourselves, though if you have any queries please contact us.
Kepos Terrace is on the border of Surry Hills / Redfern and it is perfect for exploring Sydney with bus stops around the corner taking you in any direction, or there is much to see and do within walking distance. The nearest train station to our home is Central Station.
The house is a typical inner city terrace house of 2 levels, with some lovely original features, 13ft high ornate ceilings and much natural light, in a tree lined street, situated in a cul-de-sac, thus it is very quiet with no traffic noise, which is unexpected as we are so close to the city.
Downstairs: Lounge, dining, kitchen, second bathroom, laundry, and a court yard off the kitchen.
Being 2 levels, it is not a problem to come home late or make a cup of tea in the middle of the night.
The room has everything you will need, it is fully furnished with a double bed and a ceiling fan. Clean linen is supplied (sheets, towels etc ), dressing /bath robe, iron & ironing board, hair dryer and an umbrella.
About us ( briefly )
I live with my daughter , who is currently studying her fourth year of a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, so there is always a 'master piece' in progress. In the section 'About the Host Eloise' , I have entered some information about myself, apart from that, I grew up in Sydney. We have a friendly cat named Roger, who is a well mannered pet.
We will be here to welcome you and to settle you in and help you to find your way around the house and the local area.
We would like to know some information about you before we accept a booking - please have a profile or send us some information when you request a booking and the purpose of your trip, whether you are here on business, holidays, backpacking Australia, or studying English etc.
Once again I am happy to answer any queries you may have, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Guests have access to all common areas of the house on ground level, including the kitchen, lounge, garden & laundry. A kitchen cupboard and a shelf in the fridge is allocated to our guests to store groceries, light meal preparation is welcomed.
Interaction with Guests
Whether someone is here in Sydney for business or simply traveling, we are happy to offer local advice, help with English, and we always appreciate learning more about our guests.
We are surrounded by cafes, restaurants, pubs and bars in Dank, Crown & Bourke Streets, all within easy walking distance, and a short walk to Centennial Park. Our current guest ( Ivy ) referred to this area as a 'hipsters neighbourhood', and I quite agree. I like that it is accepting of all age groups and at any hour of the day ( it seems ), there are people in the streets.
Transport is exceptionally easy from this location. We have created a blog which details transport options, whether entering the city from the airport or coming from Central Station with helpful hints getting around Sydney, including maps, train / bus routes & timetable information. The blog address is available to Kepos Terrace guest bookings.
Other Things to Note
The airbnb site normally requires a personal photo and any difficultly experienced in trying to log on, setting up an account or in trying to include photos, we understand may be attributed to not accessing/entering information on the airbnb site via E.L.G.O.O.G. or C h r o m e which is more stable. Also to note : Phone numbers and e addresses are understandably blocked by airbnb until a booking is made, thus sending contact details won't be visible to us.
Thank you for taking the time to read this section:
The guest's room is your private room for the length of your stay with us, therefore concerning the cleaning of the room for long-term bookings, please ask for help when you wish to have the room cleaned and the linen changed, it will be no trouble for me, or, I am equally happy for you to clean the room yourself. You can keep private papers, documentation or jewelry locked in a safe box within your room.
We expect an excellent sense of security in locking the front door upon entering or leaving, and ensuring the backdoor is locked if you are the last one out. We have not had an instance to be concerned about, but, when the doors are locked the house is secure in our absence, and thus your security also protects your belongings.
Regarding extra guests:
An extra guest should be made known at the time of the booking.
This is a non-smoking household, therefore no smoking inside nor in the garden.
I would say we have enjoyed every guest who has ever booked with us, and in some cases even loved having some who stayed. If you book to stay with us, please consider this is our home which we share with airbnb guests, therefore we hope those guests who are considering booking Kepos Terrace are able to consider this point and that an airbnb listing is not akin to a backpackers hostel. We do everything possible to make your stay with us safe, restful and enjoyable.
Eloise é uma pessoa incrível. Me recebeu com muito carinho, atenção e disposição. Sempre presente e paciente me ensinando inglês a cada dia. A casa é linda, o bairro maravilhoso. Deu várias dicas de restaurantes e passeio. Amei ficar nesta casa. Amei conhecer ela e sua adorável filha. Muito organizada. Muito amiga. Difícil e ter que sair dessa casa. Porque ela faz de tudo para que vc se sinta em casa. Obrigada por tudo, Eloise.

We really enjoyed our stay with Eloise, Paris and Roger (the cat). They have a beautiful home which they made us feel very welcome. The location provides great access to Bondi and the city. Redfern has a lot of great cafes for that morning coffee fix. Our hosts were really helpful and accommodating and we would recommend a stay here. We will treasure our hand drawn map of the area by Eloise!
Our stay at KT@Redfern was simply splendid! Eloise was a fantastic host and her house was very clean and beautiful.
From unlimited free wifi to adapters, towels, bath robes and slippers, our needs were more than well met. There are many great cafes and sightseeing destinations within walking distance which Eloise would happily give directions to.
We had a great time chatting with Paris. Roger the cat was an absolute darling that made us feel so loved and welcome. Eloise even gave us flowers and a handwritten card upon learning that we were on our honeymoon.
We will definitely recommend KT@Redfern to anyone looking for a great Sydney experience. And be nice to Eloise, because she is certainly a very nice host!
Eloise made us feel very welcome, took us to our room, made tea, and showed us around the shared areas of the house. She told us about the area that she lived in, a little about getting around Sydney and also took us to the supermarket.
Her house is beautiful, it reminded us of home and so we felt really relaxed being there. There was also another guest staying longer term, who was lovely too.
The room we shared wasn't the room advertised, but Eloise explained about opening up another room while her daughter was away for a few days. The other guest had the use of the bathroom down stairs and we had the use of a shared bathroom. When Paris did return, there was four of us sharing one bathroom which we made work.
Eloise took us out on bike rides, hired a car and took us out around the residential areas you wouldn't normally see, helped us arrange to send luggage back to the UK and introduced us to the best gelato i've ever tasted (we had way too many). She's a gem!
Eloise is a warm and caring host, we really enjoyed getting to know her, she has a beautiful home and an amazing cat called Roger. We didn't spend much time with her daughter Paris, sometimes we felt a bit in the way, but i'm sure thats because she returned back from her trip early not expecting other guests to still be there.
I would recommend Eloise to anyone and we would both return to stay with her again.
Heidi, thank you for a great review. It perhaps should be mentioned that you extended the booking three times ( which was fine ). Though, usually when guests check-out their luggage is packed and ready and the room is made available again. Returning at 9:00pm, you asked me if you could make dinner and your check-out was 10:30pm, this was a very late check-out.
Eloise was the perfect host , she recommended beautiful places to eat , the best public transport and general knowledge of the area. The location is great for getting all around the city. The house was beautiful and always spotless. She made us feel very welcome . I would recommend for anyone to stay here
I was a guest from (phone number hidden) until (phone number hidden) and it was great! The Place looked just like the pictures. I had a private room with double bed and (a private) bathroom. Surry Hills looks like a small village in a big city. Everyday I had breakfast at St Jude, just around the corner. A great Place with very good Food!! A great thing is that you get a bike. I used it every day! The bikeride to the Ferry's takes for about 20 minutes. Also to the beach. Eloise and Paris are great hosts. I really had a great time, with lots off privacy in a beautiful Surry Hills. Thank you very much!!

About the Host, Eloise
For over 20 years I have worked full-time as a calligrapher. When it came to doing poems, I did the writing and my daughter did the illustrations. I never told a client that the illustrator was a young girl. When the client came to see the completed work, from another room my daughter would listen to what the client had to say when I was asked to convey their compliments to the illustrator and happily they took their poem, she was 10 years old when she started doing illustrations.
For the last couple of years I have been working as a secretary for a doctor and my daughter is busy with her fourth year studies at art school.
We have traveled ourselves and have used airbnb accommodation. We are comfortable living with other people, and we find it a joy to make connections with like-minded souls and to be around people who have a spirit of adventure.
We are respectful of other people and their privacy and we always have time to sit and talk with our guests, sharing our experiences of the best places to see and things to do in Sydney.
