From the moment of booking this cabin everything was way above and beyond any experience I've had with a rental home. John was SO amazing, suggesting places to visit, places to eat, hikes, adventures. Once we got to the cabin it was pure magic. The cabin is SO cozy, the fireplace and beautiful living room gave me the perfect napping place. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The outdoor fire pit was so nice to enjoy at night under the stars. The location is perfect, close enough to everything, but not too close. There is a GORGEOUS hike right down the street which allowed us to have a wonderful nature filled adventure. My husband and I are looking forward to many many more adventures staying at John's cozy retreat in Sugarloaf!!!

We had a great time at John's cabin. The fenced backyard was perfect for our dog. Nice and spacious place with everything you need. It was especially nice to have Netflix, movies, and games available to use. We will definitely be back soon!

Great place, great location, beautiful roomy old school cabin in a wonderful neighborhood. You can walk to a bar & restaurant down the street and there's a fantastic train just up the street from the home. LOVED IT!!! Also fits at leat 3 cars if you wanted to. John was also very quick to respond to my booking request and very personable and eager to help us try and have the best time possible.

Thanks Frank. You were a great guest and hope you will come back again! Thanks so much for also watering the plants. That was so nice-something most guests don't do and I really appreciate it and am so happy to hear you had a blast while up there this weekend!

I reserved Johns cabin for my fiancée's birthday surprise. It was our first time to big bear and we didn't know the area very well. Luckily, John had great suggestions and made our stay extremely enjoyable! He gave us our privacy but was so quick at answering our messages! He even was very kind enough to accommodate our dog with a small fee! The cabin is less than 10min from the main town in a super quiet neighborhood just a short walk from trails. The cabin itself is spacious, clean and cute! We enjoyed making fires in the pit in the backyard and hanging out on the private patio upstairs. It was a very lovely visit overall! We would most definitely stay again!

Our stay in John's cabin was great! We had a perfect getaway. Really-really needed that time out of the city. The cabin provided us with everything we needed (especially the grill, the fire pit, a gated backyard for the dog and of course the stars over our heads!). A convenience store is a walkable distance away. Heads up: the smaller bedroom gets really hot during the summer nights so you might want to bring the big vertical fan from the master bedroom into the second bedroom. Isolated quiet area - 15 minute drive to the lake, the village, the slopes. Oh and a wild rabbit lives somewhere nearby - you can see him around a lot of the time - pretty cool!

Response from John:
Thanks Dan! So glad to have you at the cabin! Glad you got to enjoy the amenities in the back yard too! Glad you got to see the wild jackrabbit too. Hope to have you back soon!

I'm originally from Belen, New Mexico. I grew up on a farm and became a PR professional and enjoy healthy cooking and cookations around the world. I have an herb garden and some edible plants up in Big Bear too so you'll enjoy and learn some lessons on some native and medicinal herbs when you are at the cabin too :)
