Welcome to a classic Norwegian cabin experience at Hundstadsætra in Kvæfjord! A former pasture landscape, which is still kept open with grazing sheep throughout the summer. The cabin is simply furnished, but with the facilities needed to enjoy good and quiet days here. Nature is right outside the door, and after the day's excursions you can enjoy your cup of coffee with a fantastic view of the fjord, mountains and agricultural landscape at the entrance to Vesterålen and Lofoten.
The space
The cabin is small and simple, but cosily furnished with everything you need for a pleasant stay. A staircase leads up to the veranda and the entrance area, and inside there is a kitchen, living room and bedroom on one level.
The kitchen has an electric stove and refrigerator, and is well equipped with kitchenware. Water for coffee, food and dishes is heated on the stove. Kitchen table with space for 3 people.
The living room is quite spacious with a beautiful view of the fjord and a comfortable lounge. The sofa can be converted into a double bed.
In the bedroom there is some space for clothes and equipment, and a bunk bed. It is therefore possible to sleep four people in the cottage, but due to the size we recommend three people or two adults with two smaller children.
On the veranda you will find outdoor furniture. The outdoor area around the cabin consists of grass and heather, and is fenced in because of grazing sheep in the surrounding area. Just outside the gate there is great hiking terrain.
Guest access
You can reach Hundstadsætra with a 30 minute drive from Harstad. 15 minutes from Refsnes ferry terminal with connections to Vesterålen and Lofoten. From Evenes Airport it is about an hour's drive. The nearest center and shop are in Borkenes, 15 minutes' drive away. We can help with shopping if you arrive late. There are poor bus connections, but ask us well in advance, and we may be able to help with transport if you travel by public transport.
Other things to note
- It is a 100-meter walk from the parking lot to the cabin
- The cabin does not have running water. The hosts bring drinking water in cans, washing water is collected from the stream outside
- The cabin has a simple outdoor dry toilet 10 meters from the entrance door
- Bed linen and towels can be rented for 100 NOK per person
- Unfortunately, it is not allowed to use the wood stove in the cabin, as the stove is not approved for heating. The heating is electric.
- Electricity and wireless Internet are available
- Keep the gates closed, both from the parking lot and into the cabin due to sheeps in the area
