This is a bright spacious 2 bedroom Garden level suite in a charming 100 yr old entre-guerre home, located in Vancouver Heights. The suite has a separate entrance, in-suite laundry, private bathroom w/stand-up shower, gas range,Wifi, and single pull-out bed in the living room.
Each bedroom is unique in it's own way, one having a double bed, the other a queen sized bed. Situated 2 minutes from Hwy 1 and the Second Narrows Bridge, the suite is centrally located, also offering access to a bus loop on the same block that services the downtown core(15min), metro-town(15min), SFU(15min) as well as Gilmore skytrain station(10min).
Our home is right across the street from an elementary school that has a great playground for kids. As well, Little Italy is a short 4-5 block walk up the hill into North Burnaby, where you'll find Italian restaurants and markets.
Although our home is conveniently located one block off a main route, it really does feel like you've left the city, having a clear view of the North Shore Mountains from the front yard and no through traffic due to geography. Here's a little secret that not many people know about (even most Vancouverites!) and it's one of our favorite things to do on a warm night. If you walk east, 2 blocks up the hill and then walk north along Boundary Rd, you'll take in one of the most stunning views of the downtown skyline with the sun setting as a back-drop to the west. If you time it right, you can take in the "Festival of lights" fireworks show held for 2 weeks every year in the summer, on Wednesday and Saturday nights.
This suite has: private entrance
private laundry services
Interaction with Guests
We are busy people with busy schedules so we are constantly on the go. However, we are very approachable and love know our city quite well. If you have any questions about Vancouver and it's surrounding areas please don't hesitate to ask.
Vancouver Heights is a quiet peaceful neighborhood in between East Vancouver's Hastings Sunrise and North Burnaby's little Italy. Nestled on the side of a hill overlooking the second narrows and west up through Coal Harbor and Stanley Park. All of the North Shore mountains are perfectly on display from The Heights with the lights of Grouse Mountain at center stage.
Geographically, this neighborhood is central to most every destination in the lower mainland, and accessibility to major routes is made easy.
Because our Neighborhood is has only water to the north, we don't get any through-traffic, making it a peaceful sanctuary. And with an elementary school & field across the street, and the North Shore mountains as a backdrop, it's sometimes hard to believe we are within the same transit zone as the downtown core.
First and foremost, please leave our humble suite in the state you found it in. This is a non-smoking suite and unfortunately there are no pets allowed. VERY IMPORTANT!! Our house is 97 years old and we cherish it. There is no sprinkler system so do not use open flame except for the gas range in the kitchen. We encourage you to use the laundry facilities and please use them at any time, day or night. No parties. We don't mind if you have a friend over, but loud music and partying late at night is not conducive to our family home and the families who live within close proximity to us. Other than that, please relax and enjoy your stay.
Jon & Alex
About the Host, Jon & Alexandra
We are a young active professional couple living in Vancouver. We both love our city and enjoy all the things Vancouver has to offer. We love to eat out (so ask us where to eat!) hike, boat and generally stay healthy. Our home and pets are our passion (don't worry, there's no pets in the suite) as well as Formula 1 racing. Jon practices Muay Thai 4-6 days a week, while Alexandra competes regularly in 8-ball pool tournaments (and wins!!)
As Hosts, we tend to keep to ourselves for the most part, as our schedules generally have us committed to some sort of activity. Having said that, we are extremely approachable and are more than willing to answer questions about our fair city and what it has to offer. As a guest, you can expect a clean, accessible suite stocked with all the accoutrements you would expect from a hotel or furnished home. We only ask that you treat our humble suite as you would your own home and leave it in the state you found it in. Having said that, if there is anything missing, or wrong with the accommodations, don't hesitate to let one of us know. We hope your experience at the Franklin Residence is a good one and we hope you enjoy your stay in Vancouver.
