The Space

This traditional Greek stone house is in the very heart of Bodrum's old town. The main house and studio apartment guest room have been renovated by us, a young British-Turkish family. The location is perfect for all entertainment and amenities; literally 2 minutes walk from the sea and beach, and lets you get a taste of real laid back Bodrum life in a pretty and friendly old neighbourhood full of character and atmosphere. Our studio is a great place to base yourself while exploring Bodrum and the Bodrum peninsula.

The house in its traditional walled garden, is quiet considering its proximity to restaurants, bars, boutiques, local market & shops, and the hustle and bustle of the old town. There are sometimes art exhibitions in the streets neighbouring the house, as well as a wine bar, spanish restaurant, and other traditional Turkish restaurants, such as the atmospheric local fish market and cafes within minutes walk.

Just two streets back from the beach front (great for a morning swim especially, when the beach is almost empty), amongst narrow streets of bourganvillea-covered white -washed stone houses, our studio room is ideal for 1 or 2 people.

The landmark Bodrum Castle of the Knights of St John and its award winning Museum of Underwater Archaeology in the harbour are a 5 minute walk. The Mausoleum, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, is also very close by. The world class Milta Yacht Marina with designer shops, yacht club, cafes and live music is a 15 minute walk along the harbour at the opposite end of the bay of Bodrum. All local amenities such as groceries, hairdresser, hamam, pharmacy, fish market, fresh fruit and veg stalls, ATMs, & post office, are within a 10 minute walk from the house. The twice weekly local market/ bazaar is held in the same location as the bus station and a 5 minute walk away. Other markets are held on most days at other locations on the peninsula.

Guest Access

Guests share the patio garden with the main house, where our family live (you can get a look at the main house in the photos). The studio itself is a mini bungalow detached from the main house. Inside it is simple, clean, and furnished with a comfortable divan that converts into a large king size bed. There is A/C, hot water and a small kitchen area with sink, mini fridge and kettle. There is NO stove or oven. The small private shower/ WC 'wet room' adjoins the main room.

Interaction with Guests

95% of the time we are here to welcome our guests, give keys and recommendations on what to do and where to go. On the rare occasion that we cannot be here to let you in, a friend will be here to meet you. Do look at our guidebook here on our profile page for a few ideas on where to go locally for food, fun and relaxation.

If you have special interests or specific things that you want to do whilst in Bodrum, we will do our best to give you information on where and when things take place, and offer our recommendations.

The Neighborhood

We are right in the centre of the buzzing old town, a stone's throw from the beach and glittering Aegean sea, and just a walk away from everything on offer here in Bodrum- local cafes and eateries, design-led restaurants, bars and night clubs, the traditional harbour and the shiny 5 star Milta Marina. At the same time, our place is private and quiet, set back from the main streets- a haven in the bustling ancient town of Halikarnassus.

Getting Around

-The bus station connecting Bodrum with the airport & the peninsula's other towns, villages and beaches is 5 minutes walk away.

-Mini buses (dolmus) depart to all locations across the peninsula, and beyond, very regularly. Throughout the summer the last dolmus returns in the early hours of the morning.

-National coach services operating from here also connect Bodrum with Turkey's major cities including Istanbul.

-There are regular ferries connecting Bodrum with Datca and the Greek Islands of Rhodes and Kos that depart from the harbour- also 5-10 mins walk from us. Quite a few of our guests come from holidaying in Kos to stay over while they explore Bodrum for a couple of days. Please enquire for up-to-date ferry times.

-Car and motor bike/ moped hire is available and most providers require a credit card deposit. You need a bike license to hire a motor bike or moped- even under 50cc.

-There is NO car parking outside the house. There are secure car parks very nearby (1 or 2 mins walk) where you can usually make a deal for a pass that will allow you to come and go as you please for a period of time (ie. 1/ 2 weeks).

**For getting to the house on your arrival please keep the directions and map that you see in your reservation confirmation details at hand when you travel!

Other Things to Note

Our rates change according to season and if we have last minute availability often we offer reduced rates so do check for the latest prices. The price of the studio is advertised for 1 person but we have an extra charge for the second person. This is because we like to be able to offer singles the option for a cheaper room when usually they will be obliged to pay a double room rate at other hotels and pensions.

We try to be flexible with check-in and check-out times, and plan this with each guest in advance via messaging. If your departure from Bodrum is late in the day and you have checked out in the morning, there are occasions when we can keep your bags here for the day to be collected by you later. Unfortunately sometimes this is NOT possible.

Likewise, if we have guests leaving in the morning and you are due to check-in that day, we will need a little time to have the studio ready for you. In these cases the studio is available after midday. In all cases we do our best!

The studio apartment advertised is located in the garden of our home. We are a young British-Turkish family living full time in Bodrum, working and schooling here. Jess works freelance and Can is a yacht skipper and rope access technician. We have 2 children aged 8 and 3 yrs. The guest studio is close to the main house but is a separate/ detached space. If you are wanting to visit Bodrum, stay in a relaxed, homely atmosphere, get to know the town from the inside, and have the chance to experience something other than a hotel, villa, or hostel, our studio is ideal.

House Rules

It is perfect if our guests respect these little points...
- No bringing visitors onto the property.
- No smoking inside the studio apartment.
- Please remember to turn off the air conditioning when you are not in your room.
- Please use the water heater as and when you need it, not leaving it on all the time. It heats the water quickly and should not be left on for long periods of time.
- Please do not take the bath towels we provide to the beach or pool.
- We also ask that you please have your parties while you're out. There are loads of fun places to go- while our studio is a great place to come back to!
