Guest Access

There is a Boris Bike Station (Cheap Rental Bicycles) directly opposite the entrance to our flat where you can hire a bike for an hour or a day. There is a lift and the flat is on the top floor (Penthouse(!)) in a five story building so has no noise coming from residents above.

The flat is located just minutes from the nearest tube station (Elephant and Castle) on the main road so is safe to access at all times of day or night.

The flat is also a ten minute walk from Waterloo station.

Interaction with Guests

Guests have my mobile number and are free to call whenever otherwise I leave them to enjoy London.

The Neighborhood

The flat's Zone 1 location means you’re just minutes away from key London landmarks,
including the Thames, the South Bank, the London Eye and the Houses of Parliament.

London Southbank university and London College of Communication are literally on the other side of the road.

Travelling by tube, you can be in London’s financial heart in five minutes, its theatre district in ten minutes and as far east as Canary Wharf in under twenty minutes.

ELEPHANT AND CASTLE

With the London College of Communication on its doorstep – University of the Arts London’s largest college – Elephant & Castle is a thriving cultural and artistic hub. In fact, a variety of creative arts organisations, businesses and charities call the area home.

SOUTHBANK & LONDON BRIDGE

The south side of the Thames has become a hotspot for contemporary culture, home to both the Southbank Centre with its concert hall, gallery, bars and restaurants, and the unmissable Tate Modern. Head east towards London Bridge, and you’ll encounter many of Southwark’s most important and oldest cultural landmarks, including Southwark Cathedral, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and Borough Market.

INTERNET

From the flat you can use BTWiFi internet pay as you go from the flat. It is £4 for 1 hour, £6 for 1 day or £18 for 5 x 1 (website hidden) Wifi or BTOpenzone customers have free internet access. If you set up a FON account before you come to stay you can enjoy free Wifi.

There is also free wifi at the Mamuska Cafe (5 minutes walk from the flat) at the elephant and castle shopping centre. It also has amazing polish food. Great for breakfast, coffee or dinner.

CHECK IN

Check in is between 5pm-9pm. I am really sorry but there is no flexibility with this. There is a left luggage facility at Waterloo station where you may store your bags for a few hours if you want to explore London as soon as you arrive.

Getting around

TRANSPORT

Two underground lines, the Northern and Bakerloo, and 27 different bus routes link the flat to every corner of London. Waterloo Station, with its mainline national rail services, is within walking distance, while King’s Cross Station, with international connections to Paris, Brussels and beyond, is 14 minutes away by tube.

You can even reach either Heathrow or Gatwick airport in fewer than 45 minutes with just one change from the tube to high-speed direct trains.

  • Visit with my 2 teenage kids and had enough space. Close to underground and bus stops. No problem to visit all London hotspots and more.
I've a friend who lives in London and he told me that the hotel rooms are dirty. Maries appartement is really different: comfortable and (website hidden), dish washer, hair dryer, umbrella,... whatelse do you need?

  • Marie was an incredible host. She wasn't in the country during our arrival, however our stay was in no way compromised. She gave us many tips beforehand and we collected the keys from her friendly neighbour Maggie :-)

The apt was literally a short stroll from the tube. We got a little lost at first as the word St George's building was not the most conspicuous sign on the building but otherwise, it was a superb location! Apt is gorgeous and lovely. Clean and cosy :-)

I would definitely recommend this apt to everyone :-) thanks Marie and Maggie!

  • The apartment is in a peaceful and quiet location, about 4 minutes walk from the tube, in the area south of the Thames river. It was spacious enough for our group of 4, and can accommodate 5 easily if one sleeps in the attic! It is well-furnished, and all equipment is working well (except the TV). Note that there is no Wi-Fi, just as written in the host's description.

Marie was really nice! Despite being away on holiday, she made arrangements to ensure that we had a smooth check-in/out process, and gave us tips and recommendations for London and the apartment's surrounding area. Thank you Marie!

  • The flat was roomy and comfortable. It's location is excellent with close access to buses and the underground just a block or two away. Since I have some difficulty walking, the elevator was essential. When we couldn't turn on the bathroom light the neighbor Maggie was very responsive and had a repairman fix it the next morning. The kitchen was well furnished so it was possible to save quite a bit on food. We felt it was a good value. Marie sent lots on tips on where to go and how to enjoy our time there.

About
Hello Airbnb'ers, I am Welsh and have lived in London for the last ten years after several years living/working/studying in Paris, France and as much travelling/backpacking that I could afford around China, India, Africa and Western Europe. My day job is in Law, and I'm a huge fan of travelling, eating delicious local food, skiing, and yoga, among many other hobbies. I love the philosophy behind Airbnb's peer-to-peer home-sharing model, and the Airbnb experience has been a lot of fun so far. I'm excited to serve as your host during your visit to London, and I hope your stay here empowers you to experience all the magic this city has to offer. I also look forward to meeting many of you and maybe even experiencing life in your city some day as well! Happy Travels, Marie
