My converted warehouse apartment with high ceilings and exposed wooden beams offers a cool city pad from which to explore Sydney. Enjoy the expansive city views, huge balcony and gourmet caesarstone kitchen. Cafes, bars, transport, galleries, theatres and restaurants are only a short walk away. Comfort. Convenience. Security.
Located in the inner city neighbourhood of Chippendale my warehouse apartment offers a cool urban space for you to explore the city. The warehouse was converted into apartments 10 years ago and mine, which was renovated a year ago, includes wooden floors and a large contemporary kitchen. I have furnished the space with mid 20th century furniture and it feels comfortable and warm yet uncluttered and fresh.
The bedroom has a queen sized bed with memory foam mattress and linen provided, built in wardrobe, ceiling fan, two side tables with lamps and floor to ceiling glass sliding doors which provide views north towards the city skyline and open out onto a large covered balcony. The sunny balcony is the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee and pastry from the local bakery and is also a great spot from which to watch the sunset and enjoy a drink after a day in town.
The living area features two comfortable arm chairs, a two seater couch, a plasma screen tv, stereo with ipod dock, modern art works, dining table with four chairs, air conditioning and floor to ceiling hard wood beams which add to the industrial feel of the space. The living area opens onto a small courtyard full of plants which leads out onto the large balcony.
The caesarstone kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need to cook up a feast including 90cm oven, halogen cooktop, dishwasher, crockery, cookware and all utensils. The separate laundry includes a washing machine and dryer, iron and ironing board. The bathroom features a shower and vanity with hairdryer and towels provided.
There is free wifi internet for use throughout the apartment.
You are welcome to come and go as you please through the security entrance which requires a key. The key will be provided to you upon arrival.
The car park requires a security buzzer, please let me know if you would like to access the parking space.
Interaction with Guests
I may meet you when you arrive to give you the key or if you are checking in when I am unavailable I will provide details for where you can collect the key. To provide complete privacy for you I will not be present during any of your stay, however if you require anything I am always available on my mobile phone.
Chippendale, a former industrial area at the south end of the city of Sydney, used to be full of factories, warehouses and crumbling brick terrace houses. These days "Chippo" is packed full of cafes, bakeries, coffee roasters, restaurants and bars and is considered hot property. There is a wide range of food on offer all within a few minutes walk; from low impact or local produce, single origin coffees and sourdough bread to thai food, burgers and gastro pubs.
While the local food scene is fantastic the local art scene is equally appealing, especially White Rabbit gallery which houses one of the largest collections of contemporary chinese art in the world and is also home to a delicious dumpling and tea house. The Seymour Centre, which hosts local and international theatre performances is only a 3 minute walk.
For those wanting to explore further afield have a look at my other listings on the right to see my other property in the Blue Mountains. This property offers a unique historic escape from the city in the world heritage listed Blue Mountains.
Sandwiched between the two largest universities in Sydney and walking distance to the nightlife areas of Surry Hills, Glebe and Newtown, Chippendale is the perfect place from which to explore all that Sydney has to offer by foot. If you feel like exploring the harbour foreshore, Sydney Opera House, Sydney Botanical Gardens, Harbour Bridge and The Rocks, these are only a 30 minute walk through the city or a short bus or train ride.
As the apartment is only a few blocks from Sydney's Central Station you can easily reach all areas of the city by train, light rail, bus and Sydney ferries.
Treat the apartment as you would your own place. Let me know if there are any problems and I'll help you sort them out.
No parties allowed.
No smoking indoors and please place all cigarette butts in the bin provided.
The apartment building is quiet, and I have nice neighbours, so please be respectful of them with noise, especially on the balcony late at night.
I provide tea and coffee for my guests's use. Help yourself to olive oil, salt and pepper and butter. If you use any other food from the pantry it is appreciated if you replace it upon departure.
Feel free to entertain guests at the apartment but the apartment only sleeps a maximum of 2 people and no additional guests are allowed to stay over (including children).
To help with the cost of linen laundering a $40 cleaning fee will be charged for all stays. This does not cover the full cleaning required to maintain the presentation of the apartment, so a basic tidy up upon departure is appreciated.
Please place all rubbish in the bin and drop the rubbish down the garbage chute located beside the elevator, put all used cutlery and crockery in the dishwasher and turn it on and try to leave the place as you found it.
I will supply full notes of how to live in the apartment once a booking is confirmed.
Gerard was not able to meet us at the accommodation but he gave us detailed instructions for gaining entry and this was very easy. We loved the apartment, it was as described and even better. My husband was nervous about a private rental but now he raves to everyone about how lovely it was. The kitchen was extremely well equipped. The bed was very comfortable with top quality linen. The apartment was immaculate when we arrived and we tried to leave it the same when we left. The location was perfect for our needs, we had been nervous about driving in the Sydney traffic, but everything we wanted was close by and we had no trouble finding our way around. Gerard left us instructions for all the appliances etc. and where to go to eat. Altogether a very positive experience, we hope that we can come back again later in the year. Well done Gerard and thank you for making our stay in Sydney such a pleasant and easy one.
Highly recommend this apartment - beautifully decorated, really clean and excellent location. A huge thank you to Gerard for being such an excellent host.
Upon mentioning that my daughter was leaving the hospital with a new baby on the day of our scheduled arrival, Gerard was very helpful in letting us store our suitcases a day ahead. The apartment was exactly as described except for the presence of a BBQ on the terrace which was not shown on the pictures. What a pleasant and useful surprise! Even though it was our eight visit in Sydney we knew nothing about the Chippendale area. Another pleasant surprise! Close to the Redfern train station and the buses on Broadway getting us downtown in less than 10 minutes. My wife and I will definitely be back at that address.
I booked this apartment on behalf of my parents, who were visiting Sydney for the first time. Gerard was always very responsive and helpful before their arrival. The apartment was exactly as it is shown on the photos, was impeccably clean and had everything they needed for their stay. The central location makes it easy to get to/from major transport links. Would definitely recommend Gerard's place for a wonderful stay in Sydney!
We were warmly welcomed by Gerard before he went to work and were instantly made to feel at home. The apartment was well-located, immaculate and had a really nice feel. We had access to all of the facilities (internet, kitchen, towels, etc) in the apartment which was a big help and we enjoyed taking in the city views while relaxing on the balcony. We thoroughly enjoyed our three nights at Gerard's apartment and can't recommend it highly enough.
Gerard's apartment is a delight: a beautiful, comfortable place easily accessible to trains and other transit, perfect for anyone visiting University of Sydney as I was. His neighbourhood guide is a wonderful introduction to the many delicious, hip and cool options nearby and in a few cases further afield. Gerard himself was very responsive and helpful. A fantastic experience!

I am a primary school teacher from inner Sydney.
I have travelled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent. When travelling I always enjoy eating local food, walking around cities and taking in the atmosphere and cooking local produce if I can.
I have established both my properties with these passions in mind. Whether you are looking for an escape from urban life and a step back in time, or a modern apartment that offers easy access to all of the attractions of the city my properties will provide you with an enjoyable and relaxing stay.
My two properties are in two very different locations; one is a modern apartment in the inner city area of Chippendale in Sydney and the other a historic stone cottage in the upper Blue Mountains, 2 hours from the centre of Sydney.
