My converted warehouse apartment with high ceilings and exposed wooden beams offers a cool city pad from which to explore Sydney. Enjoy the expansive city views, huge balcony and gourmet caesarstone kitchen. Cafes, bars, transport, galleries, theatres and restaurants are only a short walk away. Comfort. Convenience. Security.

The Space

Located in the inner city neighbourhood of Chippendale my warehouse apartment offers a cool urban space for you to explore the city. The warehouse was converted into apartments 10 years ago and mine, which was renovated a year ago, includes wooden floors and a large contemporary kitchen. I have furnished the space with mid 20th century furniture and it feels comfortable and warm yet uncluttered and fresh.

The bedroom has a queen sized bed with memory foam mattress and linen provided, built in wardrobe, ceiling fan, two side tables with lamps and floor to ceiling glass sliding doors which provide views north towards the city skyline and open out onto a large covered balcony. The sunny balcony is the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee and pastry from the local bakery and is also a great spot from which to watch the sunset and enjoy a drink after a day in town.

The living area features two comfortable arm chairs, a two seater couch, a plasma screen tv, stereo with ipod dock, modern art works, dining table with four chairs, air conditioning and floor to ceiling hard wood beams which add to the industrial feel of the space. The living area opens onto a small courtyard full of plants which leads out onto the large balcony.

The caesarstone kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need to cook up a feast including 90cm oven, halogen cooktop, dishwasher, crockery, cookware and all utensils. The separate laundry includes a washing machine and dryer, iron and ironing board. The bathroom features a shower and vanity with hairdryer and towels provided.

There is free wifi internet for use throughout the apartment.

Guest Access

You are welcome to come and go as you please through the security entrance which requires a key. The key will be provided to you upon arrival.
The car park requires a security buzzer, please let me know if you would like to access the parking space.

Interaction with Guests

I may meet you when you arrive to give you the key or if you are checking in when I am unavailable I will provide details for where you can collect the key. To provide complete privacy for you I will not be present during any of your stay, however if you require anything I am always available on my mobile phone.

The Neighborhood

Chippendale, a former industrial area at the south end of the city of Sydney, used to be full of factories, warehouses and crumbling brick terrace houses. These days "Chippo" is packed full of cafes, bakeries, coffee roasters, restaurants and bars and is considered hot property. There is a wide range of food on offer all within a few minutes walk; from low impact or local produce, single origin coffees and sourdough bread to thai food, burgers and gastro pubs.

While the local food scene is fantastic the local art scene is equally appealing, especially White Rabbit gallery which houses one of the largest collections of contemporary chinese art in the world and is also home to a delicious dumpling and tea house. The Seymour Centre, which hosts local and international theatre performances is only a 3 minute walk.

Getting around

Sandwiched between the two largest universities in Sydney and walking distance to the nightlife areas of Surry Hills, Glebe and Newtown, Chippendale is the perfect place from which to explore all that Sydney has to offer by foot. If you feel like exploring the harbour foreshore, Sydney Opera House, Sydney Botanical Gardens, Harbour Bridge and The Rocks, these are only a 30 minute walk through the city or a short bus or train ride.

As the apartment is only a few blocks from Sydney's Central Station you can easily reach all areas of the city by train, light rail, bus and Sydney ferries.

  • Unfortunately, we never got to meet Gerard in person, but all our communications with him via phone and email were consistently helpful and honest.

    The apartment, itself, is clean, comfortable and pleasant. It was great to have the balcony area, complete with plenty of succulents and other plants, to spend time on when we just felt like a bit more outdoor space.

    If you like walking, the location is well-situated, with the central city, as well as the many eating and shopping spots of Surrey Hills and Newtown, easily accessible.

    Overall, a very pleasant and convenient place to spend a few Sydney days and nights.

  • Three Cs - Comfortable, Clean and Convenient. Gerard was prompt and very helpful in all correspondence and the apartment is only a ten minute walk from Central Station. Lovely garden balcony for breakfast. Thanks Gerard a perfect spot for a weekend in Sydney.

  • We stayed at Gerard's apartment for three nights and it was lovely. Gerard met us on arrival and was very understanding that we were a bit late. The apartment is in a terrific location, perfectly renovated and clean apartment, secure parking, wifi and more. The garden covered terrace is a real bonus. Close to main roads so picking up a cab or bus is easy. Not far to walk to great restaurants and cafes. And two large supermarkets are in easy walking distance. It's also an easy walk to the city and Darling Harbour. The apartment was well appointed and we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay and hope to return for a longer visit.Thank you Gerard!

  • My partner and I spent three nights at Gerard's Chippendale apartment, and wouldn't hesitate to spend more time there in the future. A former Sydneysider, I already knew about the area which, as Gerard says, is brimming with great cafés and galleries.

    Gerard made the whole key handover process very simple. The apartment itself is immaculate - light, airy and modern. Inclement weather prevented us from making the most of the balcony, which has great district and city views and makes up a significant part of the total floor area. Would be fantastic in spring/summer.

    The Central Park development that's recently opened up nearby on Broadway includes a park, a Woolworths if you need to do a grocery shop, and a delicious gelato place for dessert. It's also pretty impressive when lit up at night.

    Most importantly, the bed is comfortable and the shower is hot with good pressure. You'll be close to everything; the city, Newtown, Surry Hills. It's a no brainer!

It was as immaculately kept as a hotel room but with the added bonus of an amazing green balcony with beautiful plants, all the facilities you could want, great location and lovely host.. my first proper visit to Sydney and so good to look over city lights while unwinding in the eve...Gerard was super pleasant to deal with and I will be recommending this apartment to anyone who asks.. check out brickfields for breakfast lunch or bread.. so close

  • Gerards apartment is strategic, clean, extremely comfortable, and very cosy to stay in. Gerard and Jon were flexible and accommodating with us by allowing us to come a little earlier on the day than first thought. Much appreciated after a long haul flight and arriving back to Australia unwell.
    Every contact with Gerard or Jon was timely and courteous.
    We would have no hesitation to recommend the apartment.

  • Gerard's apartment worked a treat for us. The location made it so easy to access. We had a car which was parked in secure car parking. It was so easy to access east, west, south or north Sydney from here.
    Local cafés within walking distance were great and a few minutes stroll to the Mirvac Shopping Centre in Broadway meant popping out for some groceries to have the odd meal at the apartment didn't mean having to get the car out.

    The apartment was impeccably clean, quiet, very well appointed in terms of kitchen, laundry and bathroom, and the bed was very comfy. Ceiling fan, air conditioning, iPad Dock and wifi also made for ease of feeling at home.
    We were there for 7 nights and were able to relax at the apartment. We even watched fire works from Darling Harbour from the apartment balcony.

    We would have no hesitation in staying here again based on the location, the apartment, and ease of communicating with Gerard via both emails and mobile phone.
