Enjoy all the West Village has to offer from this TOP location. Highline, Hudson River Park, Meatpacking, all the bars and restaurants of the West Village right next door. Cobble stone street tree lined. Frequently used for movies and model shoots. A true NYC experience. 1.5 bedrooms (1 Queen, 1 single), very quiet main bedroom and outside space terrace in back, contemporary furnishings, skylight in art deco kitchen, very light and sunny, wifi, top floor brownstone (two short flights of stairs to walkup) so very quiet with no one above you. Generally several night minimum as there are only three apartments in the building and want to keep it quiet. Rented only when I'm away so very well kept. Maximum 1 or 2 people plus infant/small child.

I rented this apartment for my parents and my sister. They simply loved their experience at Lance's apartment. Everything was clean, the location is central and very calm. The apartment is very tastefully decorated and located in a beautiful brownstone building. The terrace was a lovely way to rest after spending hours exploring the city.
Lance was also very responsive to my queries.
What a pleasure it was to receive a bottle of Prosecco as a complimentary gift from the host!
I would definitely recommend Lance's apartment to all of those who want to experience New York in style.
Thank you Lance!
A friend and I have recently spent a week in Lance's delightful well appointed apartment. We were even welcomed with fresh flowers. We found it to be very clean and comfortable with quirky kitchen and bathroom and other good design features. The deck/terrace was a great bonus for outside space. The position is ideal with a short walk to the High Line, the Hudson River and the other interesting parts of the West Village. Perfect time of year to visit with spring flowers and the trees coming in to leaf. We will definitely choose to stay there again and recommend the flat to friends. (There were no signs of the smells or infestation the previous tenants reported.)
NASTY EXPERIENCE. A NIGHTMARE!!!
UNHEALTHY AND HORRIBLE APARTMENT.
First of all, the appartment is much much older than appears in pictures, really dirty and untidy. The stairs and corridor look like a gipsy camp full of plastic wardrobes, things, boxes, shoes, clothing, luggage, a vacuum cleaner, etc.
The first we found when we arrived very tired after 8 hours flying, was that bed sheets hadn´t been changed and they were dirty, stained, creased, full of hairs and had a nasty smell.
The house was really dirty, dusty, messy and filthy. There was no room at all for us nor for our things because the place was absolutely packed with the owner´s things (not even a hanger for us), all the wardrobes and drawers were full of clothing, his shoes were all around (even in the living room), dust everywhere, filthy carpets and bad smell all over the place!!.
The bathroom was even worse, the bath tub and wash basin were full of hairs and everything we touched was dirty. There was not a place to hang our clothes or towels because even the hook was occupied with his bathrobe. The water would stay in the shower for more tan 30 minutes because of the old drains. The windows in the bathroom are blocked and cannot be opened. At night lots of coackroaches would run all over the bathroom. Disgusting!!
Everything in the kitchen was dirty. We had to wash every single cup, glass or plate before using them because they were dusty and sticky. There is not even a coffee machine and there was no room in the fridge four our food because it was full of the owner´s!!
The house was cold because there was no heating during day time and a suffocating heating would start at night, at about 12.00 am with an unconfortable steam noise coming from the bathroom that would not let us sleep. Shouldnt it be the opposite, heating day time and no heating at night?.
I was bitten by some kind of insect, probably a spider or perhaps fleas, in both hands while sleping and still have red really swollen bites.
The terrace is useless because it is dirty and there is no way to sit down on dirty and broken chairs and table.
My friend kept saying there were rats in the house because she heard characteristic noises at night, until we confirmed it the last day when we saw the mousetrap behind the garbage can in the kitchen and discovered the kitchen was full of packets and bottles of poison for rats. REVOLTING !!!!!!.
We phoned the owner as soon as we arrived, to complain for all this, and he said he was sorry and promised a refund. We sent him an email the following day and he didn´t answer. We have sent him many emails and messages but he hasn´t given us the refund.
Definitely an appartment in such condition shouldn´t be rented.
WHAT A DISGUSTING EXPERIENCE AND A DAYLIGHT ROBBERY!!!
I am shocked by the untruths and exaggerations in this review. The apartment is not new, the building was built in 1848 (replacing the residence where Alexander Hamilton died), and sits on a cobblestone street - it's a historic brownstone in the West Village. All prewar apartments in NYC have steam heat, which is centrally controlled in the building. The apartment is professionally cleaned prior to every guest arriving - mopped, dusted, vacuumed, bedding/towels washed, bathroom scrubbed, etc...(I have been using the same cleaner with no problems for 6 years.) Yes, my things are there, this is AirBNB, I do not empty the apartment of my personal belongings. That said, there is 1/2 a wardrobe available for guests to use for their items and, the apartment is, by Manhattan standards, quite spacious. I have never had an issue with the shower not draining, my only guess as to why the renter had a problem here is that she did not know how to work the drain and did not ask me. The renter's complaints about the kitchen and the insects/pests are frankly unbelievable to me and were perhaps fabricated to support her request for a refund. In fact, as I look around my apartment, as I read the reviews other guests have left and think about the positive feedback I have received from them both online and in-person, it seems to me that the bulk of this review was fabricated in an attempt to get a refund.
The apartment was everything we hoped it would be and more. Prime location in the city but on a quiet, charming street. The best of both worlds! I would highly recommend Lance's apartment and hope to stay there again in the future.
Location Is brilliant, just on the border between West Village and Meat packing. Two of the best niegbourhoods In NY.
Just a few minutes walk to 14th street station.
Many of the cities greatest restaurant close by.
Chelsea , Soho and LES In walking distance.
Great, sunny terrace on backside without any noice.
Lance was a great host. Everything turned out exactly as he said.
