To start we did not have gps but I thought I had it mastered - well it wasn't easy but we were not in hurry and once found we met Rita and Roberto.
We chose this location to visit Assissi , Spoleto and other towns Once mastered it was a breeze to access roads.
The apartment was excellent, spacious clean and beautifully presented. People can safely be satisfied with facilities excepting parking is a little distant from apartment but Roberta is generous with assistance.
Spoleto was an unexpected GEM and it was worth the time we took to get to the top -- use the escalators and lift to top. the amphitheatre was a treat as were aquaduct and roman house.
Rita and her husband are very passionate about their area, which is beautiful. They have been very helpful with any little request I had for them. The house was very fresh, a truly delight during summer days, and we appreciated the mosquito nets at the windows, as we are very sensitive to mosquito bites. a beautiful corner of Umbria, which I would recommend to anybody in the area. We went to see the Waterfalls at the Marmore and for the kids was the top of the journey, including the rafting experience.
Spoleto might be an unknown town, compared to the big cities. Why? it is a truly beautiful city, with a great atmosphere. And the stay at Rita was wonderful. Being outside the town, in the countryside, definetely added sometjing extra. Walking and cycling routes at your doorstep as well. The apartment was good, a pity we could not meet Rita in person since she was on holiday. but it was all well organised, with little extra's like coffee and tea that make a stay even better.
At night the view of the valley was wonderful, the contract between the dark mountains behind the house and the busy valley, along the famous Roman Road Via Flaminia.
Some suggestions: check out the festival 2mundi (june, july), look at the wonderful small towns in the area, eat in the wonderfull local restaurants.

About the Host, Rita
Riccardo and I were borrn in Roma, where we lived and worked until a couple of years ago. We had the wish of spending part of our time in a quiet country village. In 2001 we visited the "Borghetto" when it wasn't yet the Borghetto of today. The property, abandoned for several years, was in very bad conditions. The water entered trough the roof of the house and it was at risk to break down.... but it had for us the attraction that only old mansions can have, as they tells us many things about happiness and sorrow preserved among their walls. We started a restoration of the property, conducted by qualified architects. The results was very good, as you can see in the pictures. Now, we spend most of our time in this wonderful historical Umbrian area. We can enjoy our preferred hobbies (reading, listening music, painting, biking, doing walking in open air), in a very slow rithm of life. Frequently, friends come and visit us, but we enjoy so much receiving hosts coming from every country, sharing with them the views and the unique beauties of umbrian landscapes and cities.
