We had a great time in Cutchogue this past weekend. Andi was very helpful and responsive and we had no problems at all with the cottage. As described, the cottage now has a very comfortable bed and curtains on all windows, and it was warm and cozy. The location is very convenient for wineries, but not super close to Greenport, so be aware if you are planning to spend a lot of time there. The beach is very close and private; we loved that. I do think the price point is a bit too high for the location and lack of kitchen, but not by a lot. If the price went down $50 a night, I would call it an excellent value for the experience. Overall we had a great weekend.
The cottage was lovely and Andi was a great host! We were looking to do our own thing so we didn't meet with her, but she provided logistics and recommendations to assist with our visit in advance. She was also always available by text if we had a question.
With regard to the cottage itself, it is exactly as described - very small, only designed for two. I was a little surprised that there was no kitchen, but we were planning on eating all our meals out anyway, so that worked out fine. There is a little dorm fridge tucked away in the closet - great for keeping a bottle of wine cold after visiting one of the local vinyards!!
After reading the reviews, I wasn't sure whether to expect curtains (a few 2014 reviews mentioned it). I can attest that all windows have them! The cottage is on the same property as a larger house, but very separate - no connecting walls.
A very cute cottage and a very knowledgable and attentive host. Thank you very much!
Absolutely charming cottage set off the main house. Quiet is not the word for it. It would have been nice to have heat and hot water as the temperature dipped down to 42 on our visit and an ice-cold shower was not the way to start our Sunday. Also, the oscillating space heater provided was just not enough.
Jeff alerted me to the fact that he could not get hot water on Sunday morning, after he had stayed the night. I responded to his text message within 30 minutes via text, phone call and email but he did not ever respond back. The hot water was fully operational within one hour.
My guests comfort is of paramount importance to me, hence I supply extra comforters, heaters, as well as air conditioning for all kinds of temperatures and preferences.
This house was lovely! On a secluded, shady street just minutes away from the beach, we spent a great evening in this spacious cottage with a newly-renovated bathroom. Before arriving Andi was very friendly and helpful, even recommending a place for my husband and I to stop for lunch on our way into town. In the evenings we spotted bunnies frolicking on the lawn and in the morning a family of deer grazed nearby—all welcome sights for two city kids looking to get out into nature for the weekend. All in all a great visit!
We enjoyed our stay at Andi's cottage and it was a great location to explore wine tasting nearby. Andi communicated well and was really helpful giving us recommendations of places in the area to go. The only criticism I have is that there were no curtains in the cottage which doesn't make it feel particularly private and is an important thing for guests staying there.
Andi was welcoming and the little cottage is situated on a beautiful waterfront piece of property...... however some basics were lacking that I would consider standard for this price point.....Beds were very unsteady/ uncomfortable (two twin beds pushed together to form a king), towels and linens needed updating, sparse furniture and no curtains or screens on any of the windows including the bathrooms which feels very uncomfortable from a privacy standpoint. Lastly, there was a strong smell of harsh cleaning products when we arrived that seemed to linger even though we aired the cottage out.
With some basic and inexpensive upgrades, this house could be a really fantastic destination but without a comfortable bed, blinds to close, and some fresh new towels I am afraid I am unable to provide an endorsement for this property .
For a total of $681 spent on our weekend to stay here for two nights we were a bit disappointed not to have been more comfortable.
