This was my first experience using airbnb and I was very impressed by the whole experience. Joan went out of her way to make us feel welcome and show us around. She is a great source of information as to what to see and various eat and drink special in town. The place was kept spotless and well stocked. Even her dog was very well mannered. I do not think I heard him bark once the whole time I was down there. Joan would especially be a great resource for anyone who was thinking of relocating to the area. Highly recommended.
The reservation was canceled 3 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Dear Joan, I'm addressing this directly to you, because it is a personal matter. You can stay at somebody’s place, or stay with someone. The latter was the case. We never felt as just being a visitor, me and the girls had the feeling as we were visiting a friend. We really had a home away from home at your house. Probably the most memorable experience on our trip.
You house is lovely: very central, a great location to reach all points of interest. Captiva and Sanibel Island, as well as the Fort Myers beach are within easy driving distance. There are plenty to opportunities to shop, dine & wine.
We loved Captiva and Sanibel Island, renting bikes there and exploring everything.
It was great to have your company and joining us for lunch and dinner at the restaurants you've suggested. The lobster at The Island was perfect and such good value for money!
Thank you for taking us around Cape Coral, showing us the different neighbourhoods and houses.
The breakfast that was available was unbelievable: so much choice! Nothing left to wish for. Not to talk about the Tiki bar :-)) Really happy with the drinks you have mixed and apologies for the German Music you had to listen to as a result on the last evening :-))
We miss you, Hardy and Cookie Dough a lot already and hope you will visit us up north, if your trip works out in the summer. Otherwise we will see you in the south of Germany.
... and hopefully again at Joan's Tiki Bar in Cape Coral. Stay as you are.
Love and kisses, The Crawford Girls
Thanks Berit So many compliments, where do I begin. I loved having you and the girls with me and I know we will be getting together again soon. I felt like I had know you forever. You are such a great mom and I want you to know how much I admire you for this aspect of your personality. I love German Music, you can play it anytime you are here. Please keep in touch, you have my email. Big hugs and kisses to everyone. Joan
Joan makes everyone feel so comfortable staying in her home - we were no exception. She has a warm, welcoming presence that draws you in. We left our lovely black lab up north - and replaced it with Joan's lab - "Hardy". He slept at the foot of our bed, just like our dog. Her home decor is so fun, as you can see by the pictures. It is also very comfortable - bed and recliners. She offers a full breakfast menu and her coffee is a good dark roast....perfect. Joan knows all the hot spots around town and when all the specials take place (Tuesday night is Chicago Pizza half-price night, for instance). She will also tell you when to arrive....."early - or you won't get a seat!" She can give you a personal recommendation for special excursions if you'd like. We had a lot of fun with Joan and will stay with her again when we are in the area!
Thank you Joan!
Everything worked out just great. We were there for just one night, but felt very welcome. Hardy the dog was a lot of fun! The house is located on very quite street but still pretty close to fun bars and restaurants.
Tiki bar was a hit ;)
Thank you again Joan!

The historic Seaboard Air Line railway station is home to the Museum. The station was built in 1926 during the Seaboard's push into South Florida to compete with Henry Flagler's Florida East Coast Railway. The building is a fine example of the Mediterranean style architecture of the era, with its arched entryway, stucco walls, and barrel tile roof. It is one of the few remaining structures to display the look of old Deerfield. The structure was listed as a Historic Site with the State of Florida Department of Archives in 1974 and earned a place on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.For many years the station and surrounding area were an important produce shipping center, with farmers from Pompano to Lake Okeechobee renting warehouses.
