5 blocks away from Caltrain in the beautiful Redwood City. Just a train ride away from San Francisco in the heart of Silicon Valley. The house includes a living room, dining room, bathroom with shower/bath, kitchen, and fab secluded ivy walled back patio. It's the perfect get away.
A beautiful 1960s bungalow, this quaint space boasts wonderful surprises:
-New hardwood floors in shared spaces
-Granite countertops in the kitchen
-Amazing abundance of natural lighting
-Brand new memory foam mattress in the guest room
-Secluded and private ivy-walled back patio
-Recently painted sparkling white walls
-Ceiling fans in bedrooms and dinning room
-Bathroom remodeled less then 5 years ago
-Professional Housecleaner twice a month
Guests will have access to the guest bedroom, the living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom (shared), laundry, and back patio.
There is no television or cable (I'm a netflixer) but you will have access to high-speed wireless and wired internet. The guest bedroom also has a 19inch computer monitor if you'd like to use it conjunction with your laptap for a dual screen or TV screen. Guest room also has an iHome clock radio/docking station for easy charging of your devices.
The bathroom is shared, but my schedule is flexible so it's never a problem.
The washer and dryer are located in the garage, which is attached to the house and patio.
My schedule for work can be intense, but if I'm around in the evenings, I usually hit a local restaurant or pub for dinner/drinks. You are welcome to come with.
Redwood City is one of the newest cities to become gentrified by the Silicon Valley elite. It hosts fantastic international cuisine, a large movie theater, off-broadway theatres, and even the famous bar where the first iPhone prototype was lost at.
Thursday nights during the summer, watch a free movie in our town square while sipping wine or beer. Friday nights host fantastic free music in the square from 6pm-9pm. There's also free dance lessons (salsa, swing, ect) and weekly festivals held on the downtown square. You can (website hidden) Redwood City's town website for a list of upcoming events during your stay.
It's a great mix of California locals and techies. You'll fall in love with the area!
Caltrain is 5 blocks from the house, and a bullet train can get you to either San Francisco or San Jose in about 35 minutes. Also from the Caltrain station is a set of local busses covering the Silicon Valley area. I take the train into work every morning and back home every evening.
If you are driving, Redwood city is right in the middle between SF and SJ, about 25 miles each way. Half Moon Bay is about 18 miles away. Oakland area is right across the bay but can take about 45 minutes to an hour with traffic.
My house is just blocks away from a thriving downtown, so there will be normal city noise: cars, people walking by, and sometimes music. There tends to be a bit more on the weekend. It's all part of the perks of living Silicon Valley!
Great place to stay for my 2 week business trip! Gina was out traveling so I got to use the whole house just for myself!
At night it can be a bit cold, but turning the heating on / a nice sweater should be enough for cold nights in Redwood City's winter.
A very nice plus was the Apple TV and the lazy-boy style sofa! Great combination to fall asleep after a long day of work.
Great host and great house:clean, comfortable and quiet. Very close to downtown Redwood City. 15 minutes walk to stanford medical center. Ten minutes walk or less to the Caltrain station.
Gina, is a gracious hostess and lovely person. The experience had its pros and cons. I was told she would be away while I was there. She returned. then a frantic friend came to visit for a week, so we had four people in a very small bungalow with one bathroom.
The bedroom is very small and there is no drawer or closet space, so we had had to live out of our suitcases for a month. (there is a rack to hang some clothes).
The place is clean. The towels are old and worn in the bathroom. I had to buy new ones. I also had to buy a sound machine to be able to sleep. There is a lot of noise from trains and a night club across the street.
Also, the heater did not work. Gina did purchase a space heater.
This was really a terrific place to stay. Gina has clearly put alot of thought into the experience of her guests. Everything ran very smoothly, the house was great and the location was great, just a few blocks from caltrain. I would highly recommend.
Great place and location. I didn't meet Gina, but her house is impeccable. Small and charming--just what I needed!
Quite close to city area of Redwood city, really convenient. The room was clean and comfortable. Gina is an excellent host and helps me a lot. Thank you very much, I was really enjoying my trip in Redwood city.
Had a very enjoyable stay at Gina's while in RWC for work. The house is very clean, comfortable, accommodating, and well organized. Coffee, breakfast, and snacks were readily available.
Great location - walking distance to CalTrain and some excellent restaurants in downtown RWC.
Everything worked out perfectly and I was rested and ready for a phone interview in the morning.
Highly recommended! I will definitely stay again if it is available.
We were looking for a night near SFO but not in the city, prior to going home from a vacation.
What a great find Gina's place was.
Its a beautiful modern home within very easy strolling distance of the fantastic Redwood City which is full of bars and restaurants.
We didn't get the chance to meet Gina as she was away, so had the house to ourselves but hopefully meet another time.
Ginas' communication was first class and we appreciated the tea, coffee and other goodies left for us !
Very easy 15 minutes to SFO the following morning.
Gina's place is perfect. It's cozy and clean and in a very pleasant neighborhood. What stands out most is Gina's hospitality and attention to detail. She is conscientious and warm, and puts out snacks, beer, and wine for her guests. I arrived in the Bay Area from across the country to start a new job, and landing here just felt like coming home. When you stay here, make sure to try the mexican restaurant, La Viga on the corner of Cassia and Broadway.
Although we did not meet Gina in person (she was on vacation at the time we stayed at her place), she was amazing and made our stay picture perfect. She was in constant communication regarding our each and every need, going above and beyond our wildest expectations, providing us with a wide array of snacks and beverages upon arrival. Her place is very clean and exactly as the pictures suggest. The location is great and we will most definitely be staying with her when we are in town again.
