The Space

DECEMBER 2013 UPDATE: I've just installed brand new hard wood floors in the kitchen & living room. Check out the new photos.

Hipster Haven...

Hi! Come stay in my awesome, centrally-located, Cap Hill apartment!

The 700 square foot, quiet apartment with lots of windows is on the second floor of a small 10-unit building with a gated entry & private entrance. It boasts a full bath & full kitchen (coffee & tea provided) with a dishwasher. There is a giant, comfy KING SIZED BED, an arm chair, couch, a kitchen table, lots of light & even a porch area to sit outside. I'm on the west side of Cap Hill, which is slightly more residential & quiet, so light sleepers will be happy here.

I own a transmedia marketing company and represent video game and pop culture brands. I fell in love with Capitol Hill when I moved here 5+ years ago. I'm happy to give recommendations for my guests before and/or during your trip. I love this city!

While you're here, enjoy my art collection featuring works by famed regional artists (many of which are dear friends) including Justin Hampton, Jeff "weirdo" Jacobson & Jeremiah "dear earthling" Hammer as well as Tara McPherson, Glen Barr, Andrew Bawidamann, Ben Templesmith, Khang Le, Camilla d'Errico, Joel Siegel, Scott Blair & more.

Questions? Ask!

I hope to meet you soon & assist in your enjoyment of Capitol Hill.

Guest Access

Guests will have access to the entire apartment: kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom. While I often host guests at the apartment, it is also my home. So my clothes, personal effects and food are in the dressers, drawers, closets and cabinets. I ask that you please respect this. Thanks in advance!

Interaction with Guests

I generally stay out of the guest's way during the stay. However, I'm always available if anything comes up. And I've definitely been known to hang out & have some fun with guests if they'd like!

The Neighborhood

I am located right in the middle of Capitol Hill.
Beware of other similar postings who "claim" to be on Capitol Hill! A locals definition of "The Hill" is east of Melrose, west of 19th, south of Aloha, north of Union.

Getting around

I'm within walking distance to EVERYTHING. Really!
Walk Score: 95
How long of a walk to...
-The happenin' Broadway Ave - 1 block east
- The famous Pike/Pine Corridor - 2 blocks south - home of the Capitol Hill Block Party
- Downtown Seattle - 10 minutes
- Pike Place Market - 15 minutes
- Washington State Convention Center - 10 minutes
- Bus stops to downtown/Pioneer Square or University District - 2 blocks north

Getting here from SEA-TAC airport...
It's roughly a 20 minute drive, a $45 taxi ride or a $2.50 ride on the Link Light Rail Train, which leaves right from the terminal. If you take the train, take it to the last stop: Westlake Center, which is 5th & Pike St. in downtown Seattle. From there, you can:
- walk 10/15 minutes up the hill to the apartment or
- grab a taxi the rest of the 1 mile journey or
- take a bus from 4th & Pike ($2.50/person). There are lots of options all dropping off 2 blocks away:
#43 bus to Olive & Summit,
#10 or #11 or #49 to Pine & Summit,
#47 bus to Summit & Olive.
I'm happy to help with any questions.

On-street parking is available nearby (although it can be difficult to find), as well as a paid lot right behind the apartment on Harvard between Denny & Howell. However, you definitely don't need a car in this neighborhood. Unless you need one for something specific, I actually don't recommend the hassle of a car. When on Cap Hill, do as the Cap Hill-ers do - and enjoy the neighborhood on foot. :)

I have a 6-inch foam double mattress that can be set up in the living room to comfortably accommodate a 3rd guest. Just let me know in advance so I can have it set up for you.

Hosting History:
I'm an experienced host on Airbnb. I love meeting new people & helping them to experience the city I love from a local's perspective. I pride myself on being communicative, quick to respond & ready with suggestions & local tips. Please check out my positive reviews. I hosted in a previous apartment closeby last year, so I have more reviews you can see under the "Other Property Reviews" tab. That apartment was only 2 blocks away from the current one so reviews about the location are almost identical.

While there is a washer & drier on the premises, I'll need to know in advance if you'd like to use it as it requires an additional key. Loads are each $1.50 to wash and $1.25 to dry.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Danielle and her apartment couldn't be better. Danielle was so accommodating and responded promptly to any of our questions and even went out of her way to ensure that the check-in/out process would work with our other travel plans.

The apartment is exactly as it appears in the photos - clean, fab and airy. The wifi, kitchen utilities and variable lighting in the bedroom all worked perfectly and made the place that extra bit awesome. Also, the bed is SO comfortable - if you stay at Danielle's, you definitely won't be left Sleepless in Seattle!

  • Danielle was a fabulous host and her apartment was great. We felt right at home and the information left for us was helpful too! We loved the area for bars, food and coffee and the apartment only a short bus ride/walk away from all the tourist attractions we saw! Capitol Hill was a really awesome area- we always felt safe and there's a lot to do!
Danielle always communicated promptly with us throughout booking and our stay.
The only downside to the apartment was that it got quite hot and stuffy as Seattle was very warm while we were there. The fan was okay but it was quite stuffy after being off all day while we were out. Other than that, a great place, fantastic location and awesome host. We loved the huge comfy bed and the artwork throughout the place too! Definitely recommended!

    Response from Danielle:

Thanks for the review, Emma! I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. Seattle is known for being incredibly temperate so it's extremely rare for any place in the city to have A/C. Unfortunately, you just caught us during a heatwave. Let me know if you're ever back in town!

  • Spent one night at Danielle's and it was great! Not only was the apartment cozy with a fantastically comfy bed, the location was great for cool little local bars. Danielle's post it notes around the apartment were wonderfully helpful to navigate the address.

Also, the artwork in the apartment was absolutely gorgeous!

Thanks so much for letting us stay, Danielle!

  • We had such a great time at Danielle's place. It's only a mile away or so from all the great touristy attractions such as the Space Needle and the Seattle Public library. Danielle was a great host and had everything ready for us including wifi password and great locations to see/eat. Her apartment was super clean and located in an awesome vibrant neighborhood - well definitely be back! Our only note is we couldn't find parking and just used the lot and it was about $40 for 16 hours, but that's not her fault and is to be expected in a big city. Thanks Danielle!

    Response from Danielle:

Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. Sorry about the expensive parking! That seems like a crime, doesn't it? This is why I don't drive anymore. Capitol Hill is fantastically friendly for the walker & public transit commuter.

  • Fantastic location. In the heart of Capitol Hill but without all of the noise. Comfortable big bed. Netflix on TV is a big plus.

    Thanks, Alex!

  • The apartment is centrally located. The Capital Hill area has lots of good restaurants, nightlife and fun people watching. Walking shoes are helpful for downtown Seattle since the area is hilly but taxis are easily available.

Danielle provided clear instructions on her site and left sticky notes for basic info at the apt. She was quick to respond when we had questions and needs. The apartment is cute with a very comfy king size bed. The tree lined street is pretty and quiet.

I'm a caffeine-loving, firecracker of a conversationalist who resides on Capitol Hill in Seattle. I run my own company providing transmedia marketing for the video game and entertainment industries. I enjoy travelling, reading, volun-tourism, connecting with others, animals, knee socks and hipster-watching. I laugh a lot and am admittedly a bit ridiculous.
