About this listing

Centrally located, quiet and cozy home away from home invites you to relax and get comfortable as soon as you enter. This solar powered home is close to bus lines, parks, shops, downtown Seattle and the Eastside.

The space

Charming 100 year old craftsman home offers hospitality and comfort for your visit to Seattle. Nestled in a quiet neighborhood close to Lake Washington and only a 15 minute bus ride into downtown, it is very convenient to much of what the Seattle area has to offer.
Artistic and inviting, the main floor of the house has a large open plan living/dining room area, well equipped kitchen, full bath, and two comfy bedrooms. On street parking is free and readily available.

Guest access

The main floor is all yours with your host, Sara, living downstairs in a separate apartment. The home is solar powered, Netflix and WiFi, full bath, kitchen and two bedrooms. Both bedrooms have comfortable beds, one full, one queen, plus each has a reading chair, desk and closet space. The well equipped kitchen is stocked with breakfast fixings (organic when possible), plus you can make use of cooking basics such as olive oil, herbs and spices, sugar and flour, etc. The stove is gas, there is a microwave and dishwasher plus other handy kitchen gadgets if you're planning to cook (juicer, blender).

Interaction with guests

While I enjoy getting to know travelers and sharing any insights I might have on the area, I respect guests privacy and am careful not to interfere. I live in a separate unit downstairs.

Other things to note

There is a garden you are welcome to enjoy, however during the months of April and May the deck may be under construction so there will be limited access to the yard.

We loved our stay at Sara's place. Sara was an exceptional host, very friendly and helpful. The home is one of the original homes in the neighborhood, and Sara has done a great job in making it a very comfortable and tastefully decorated home. If you like walking (like we do), there are 2 parks within walking distance, as is a food store and several restaurants. We would cheerfully stay here again.

Sara's place was perfect for my trip. I spent the weekend house hunting and she was more than hospitable and was very respectful of our space.

The description was quite accurate. All the arrangements were easy. A perfect Seattle bungalow. Immediately felt at home. Neighborhood is very pleasant, slightly quirky with some excellent restaurants in walking distance. All in all an excellent experience.

Sara was very responsive and generous with check-in time. Sara's home is absolutely lovely and so well appointed. It is a very special, personally appointed space, and I felt lucky that she shared her home with us! Thank you, Sara!

Sara was a great host with a lovely house. As you can see from the photos and other reviews, the decorations and furnishings are incredible and make you feel cozy and at home. The bed is comfy, view from the main bedroom is gorgeous, and pepper is a sweet pup. Location was also great and close to everything we needed. Definitely would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Sara is very welcoming and friendly and offered suggestions about things to do in Seattle. Her unit is very artistic with her own very lovely original artwork and interesting artifacts from Africa and around the world. And the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals, one of the best stocked kitchens we have ever had on Airbnb! She has a lovely garden, too. The location is convenient to Seattle City Center and very easy to get around to many parts of Seattle. We liked having her mellow elderly pup Pepper visit us, because we are dog lovers! He is no problem at all, just wants to say hello, get a treat, and sleep in his place by the window. We would definitely stay here again if we return to "Rain City"!

Sara is really nice! And you can always get her help if you ask. The location of the house is good, not too far away from downtown, but we still rent a car. When we check in, the house is clean and tidy, everything is will orgnized. And Sara prepared some chocolate for us! Sara had a dog, Pepper. He is a quiet and cute dog. Most of the time, Pepper stay with Sara. I really like Pepper and appreciate his company when Sara is out. Sara is a talented artists and you can easily tell that she spend lots of effort to decorate her house with her paintings and some other interesting artware. I really like her decoration. I strongly recommend Sara's place to the people who will stay several days in Seattle!

Greetings traveller!
I am an artist and have been a crafts vendor at the colorful Pike Place Market for more than three decades. I love traveling and have family as far flung as the Norwegian arctic circle and West Africa. My travel experiences have been so enriching and everywhere I go I'm grateful for the kindness and generosity of hosts. I hope to share the same quality of experience with people who come to share in the beauty of the Northwest or explore the Seattle area.
Our home is cozy and comfortable. You will be welcome to use the space and make yourself at home here. While we enjoy getting to know our guests we also respect people's space and privacy and strive to be sensitive to your needs.
