Two beautiful bedrooms are available at Kilcarry Lodge. The Lodge is a delightful country house set in a five acre parkland garden in an unspoiled area of county Carlow renowned for its scenery. It sits on the slopes of the Slaney valley with magnificient views over this fertile vale to the Blackstairs mountains.. The gardens sweep down towards the Slaney river and the house has private access to the banks.
Inside, the house is gracious and welcoming. As well as very comfortable bedrooms there is a large sittingroom for relaxation filled with books and information on the area.
The accommodation is two double bedrooms, both ensuite. The option of a twin room is also available.

We are passionate about our home and our area which is a very special part of Ireland with friendly people, wonderful scenery, historic sites and lovely villages and towns. There are endless possiblities for rest and relaxation: excellent golf courses, salmon and trout fishing, horse riding, many scenic drives and , of course, the famous Wicklow Way Walk which is on our doorstep. Should you feel the need for complete rest you can spend the day in the garden or relaxing on a terrace or sitting by the fire.
There are many visitor attractions nearby such as Huntington Castle, Altamount Gardens, Newtonbarry House and gardens, Hardymount Gardens, Delta sensory gardens, and the Visual arts centre in Carlow.
For dining out one has a wide range of restaurants and hotels to choose from within a 10 minute drive, the nearest being the famous Sha-Roe Bistro in the village of Clonegal just two minutes away.
Should you prefer to eat here we can arrange to cook for you for at a reasonable cost.
In the evening I will babysit if you wish to go out, and Sean will happily drive you to and collect you from local restaurants and pubs all for free.
To make the most of your stay it is advisable to have a car as Kilkenny, Enniscorthy and Wexford town are closeby. Even Dublin is only over an hour away and we are within 30 minutes of the coast.

Tea and coffee always available.
I have no house Rules- I hope guests will enjoy and respect my house as they would their own.
I stayed with Sean and Sandra because the location was convenient and the house looked lovely, but in future I would consider their home a holiday destination in itself. These are the warmest, most helpful hosts one could ever hope to meet. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay with them and only wished it could have been longer. Their house is truly a gem. Sitting in their architecturally stunning kitchen, warmed by the wood-burning stove, gazing out at spectacular mountain views, and having delightful chats with Sean and Sandra is balm for the soul. And if you like delicious (I'm talking home-baking, homemade preserves, salmon... you get the picture) farmhouse breakfasts cooked with love, look no further. Any detail that could possibly enhance your stay has been thought of by Sandra: immaculate bedroom, fine linens, electric blanket, high-end bathroom supplies, and so on. And don't even get me started on the two adorable and impeccably behaved dogs. Best of all, Sean and Sandra will treat you as welcome friends. If you stay with them, you will be loathe to leave. Their house is only 50 miles from Dublin and is a quick and easy drive on the motorway. Carlow is lovely to explore—historical homes and gardens, quaint villages (Clonegal is just down the road), megalithic sites, interesting towns (Kilkenny especially), and that beautiful pastoral scenery for which Ireland is famous. Carlow gets more sun and less rain, too. I can't wait to return.
Two friends and I stayed with Sean and Sandra in their lovely home with stunning views and two beautiful dogs. Our ensuite rooms were very comfortable with lovely attention to detail, in particular the electric blankets.
Our hosts could not have been more welcoming, with delicious food, endless cups of tea and great conversation. They were very accommodating, serving breakfast at a time that suited us, providing rain gear for our walk, driving us to and from the wedding we were attending and even arranging the repair of our car with a local mechanic on New Year's Eve!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend their home to anyone visiting the area.
Our hosts Sandra and Sean made Dominic and I feel incredibly welcome from the moment we arrived. Our experience of arriving at the beautiful surroundings of Kilcarry Lodge was a perfect antidote to a long journey from London. Our room was exceedingly comfortable, warm and cosy and we very much enjoyed learning about the area and relaxing in the main kitchen with Sandra and Sean. Kilcarry Lodge was without doubt the nicest accommodation we have ever stayed in, because of its comfort, the delicious home-cooked food, beautiful gardens, the extraordinary view towards the Blackstairs mountains, but most of all because of the hospitality of our hosts. They took every care to make sure we had a wonderful stay and we cannot wait to return. We really can't rate Kilcarry Lodge highly enough.
We had a really really pleasant stay there. Sandra and here husband are very hospitable and it felt like staying with the family. And their two dogs are so adorable. We are really thankful for all. It was the perfect start for our Wicklow way adventure.
We stayed here last Saturday night and from start to finish of our stay we were made very welcome. They are such a nice couple we both felt at home. We were treated like old friends and we both really enjoyed our stay there. The house is fabulous and in a super location and the garden is beautiful with beautiful views. Food was wonderful, the bedroom was so comfortable with a great powerful shower . You could not ask for any more and we would certainly love to return there some day soon. We could not recommend this place highly enough.. Oh and the dogs are so friendly.
Fantastic experience. My self and my wife stayed for one night and Sandra and her husband were wonderful hosts. The house is beautiful and we were really made to feel welcome.
We arrived in the afternoon and were immediately offered food before we headed out to a wedding we were attending. Sandra offered to pick us up when we were done but as my wife was driving we didn't need to bother them with this.
Breakfast was set for a time that suited us was great the next morning. I couldn't recommend this B&B more highly.
This house was just as beautiful as the stunning photos! We were amazed at the lovely attention to detail all over the house in the immaculate and beautiful bathrooms, bedrooms and great room. More importantly, we were made to feel so at home and welcomed that we never wanted to leave. We had delicious, plentiful food prepared for us, trips to the river, and lots of laughter together. We are already dreaming of our next stay!
P.S We also really enjoyed meeting the lovely neighbors!!!
I have settled in beautiful Co Carlow where I have created my dream home and garden after a career firstly as cabin crew and more recently teaching horticulture and catering. Airbnb seems a wonderful opportunity to share my home and garden with people from all over the world and introduce them to our lovely (website hidden) and gardening are both my work and my passion. For relaxation, I enjoying reading - and the house has an extensive library - local history and socialising in our community.
