From the moment we arrived at Kilcarry Lodge we felt like we had met long time friends. The listing lived up to all the wonderful reviews. We wish we could have stayed longer.
Sandra and Sean were amazing hosts, they went overboard to help us, they even booked some pony trekking and golf for us. The room was perfect, my daughter fell in love with her bed! and there were so many touches like fresh flowers and lovely soaps that made it feel very special. The breakfast was delicious and Sandra even made us sandwiches when we arrived. Staying with Sandra and Sean was like staying with family, they made you feel really at home in their beautiful home which enjoys a beautiful location with unspoilt views across the hills. We loved their dogs too!
"Grand" is the best word to describe our stay. We just could not leave since we felt home right away. The house and surroundings are simply beautiful and Sandra and Sean are genuine and warm.
We cannot wait to meet again.
We had a wonderful time with Sandra and Sean in their beautiful house just outside Clonegal. A great welcome and a stunning garden which we loved. Enjoyed our chats and hearing about new projects. A very hard working couple who put their all into ensuring guests have a comfortable stay. Room was spacious well furnished and had a great sleep. Breakfast was traditional Irish and very generous. Hope we get a chance to meet with Sandra and Sean again.
Top quality. This was our first BnB and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our hosts could not have done more to make us feel welcome and relaxed. Our room and ensuite were perfect. Bed was wonderfully comfortable, as neat as a pin and clean. Bathroom was well stocked with more than everything we needed. We were able to wander the property, enjoy the friendly dogs and horses. Breakfast was amazing, bacon, fresh eggs, cereals, toast, fresh fruit etc etc. our hosts were wonderful company and we shared many stories. We would definately revisit next time we travel back to Ireland.
We had a feeling that we would like Kilcarry Lodge, but we had no idea how hard it would be to leave this beautiful place and our wonderful hosts Sandra and Sean. We were a bit tired from our long day, but were warmly welcomed with refreshing beverages and tasty sandwiches--which we enjoyed while getting acquainted with our hosts and viewing their magnificent garden. Sitting on their terrace and looking out at the flowers and the beautiful hills in the distance made us feel as if we were in paradise. Sandra and Sean gave us some great suggestions as to places to explore in the area---the Huntington Castle and Gardens (we didn't go into the castle, but we did explore the gardens which were quite lovely) and Mount Leinster (definitely worth the hike to the top--views were amazing). It's evident that Sandra and Sean love the area in which they live and enjoy sharing it with others. We also had a wonderful breakfast--full Irish of course-- with the best marmalade (made by Sean) that we've ever tasted. We also had the change to see Sean's latest work in progress--a little house he's constructing from a shipping container. It's truly an amazing project. From the lovely accommodations to the fantastic hosts to their lovely dogs---our stay was just perfect. The only downside, we all wished that we had extended our stay for another night or two. It was difficult to leave Kilcarry Lodge--as it truly is a wonderful place.
If you're reading this review and short of time, then let me give you a brief summary of my 8 day stay at Kilcarry Lodge. “Simply superb!” The room was extremely well appointed and the cooked breakfasts a real treat! The garden is beautiful and it’s almost impossible to pull yourself away from the wonderful view of the valley and distant mountains. However, the best part of the stay was the warm and friendly hospitality provided by Sandra and Sean. They simply could not have been more accommodating and within hours I couldn't help but feel like a life-long friend. All in all, Irish hospitality and its very best. Thank you Sandra and Sean for your kindness and providing me with a very happy and memorable stay. I am sure I will be back.
