The Neighborhood

Poble Sec has everything you could want, there are so many great bars and restaurants withing a few minutes walk.
It really is an excellent and friendly neighbourhood.
On Carrer Blai there are many tapas bars, one of our favourites is Blai Tonight where they have a great selection of fresh Montiditos (Pinchos) for 1€ (1.20€ on the terrace) just take a plate from the bar and help yourselves remembering to keep the sticks so the waiter can work out how much to charge you.

La Rambla is a 15 minute walk and El Gotico is about a 20 minute walk.
The beautiful park of Montjuic is literally on our doorstep and is a really beautiful place to go for a walk or have a picnic.

  • LOVED my stay with Mark and Francois!!!!!! Their apartment is SUNNY, clean, comfortable and in absolutely the best location! Mark, thanks for carrying my suitcase those 80 steps, to Francois for playing all that jazz music you know I loved, and last but not least for sharing a glass of wine with me! Guys, if you are ever in D.C., give (email hidden), Barcelona rocks!

We LOVED having you as our guest too!
You were most welcome to the porterage and Francois loved getting to play his records to an appreciative audience!
Oh and you're always most welcome to join us for a glass of wine!
Maybe in Washington D.C. sometime or whenever you are back in sunny Barcelona?
    Cheers!

    Gracias!

We enjoyed having you in our home too and be sure to come and stay with us next time you come to Barcelona!
    All the best,

  • We loved our stay with Mark and Francois. Mark gave essential information about where to eat and what to see. The hospital de San Pau is an highly recomended place to visit. Warm welcome, comfortable bed good exercise getting up the stairs to the flat, and situated in an area which is local and less touristy than the Ramblas : What more could one ask of a place to stay?

  • Lovely hosts, fabulous flat and excellent location. The room is clean and comfortable, also access to Wi-Fi came very useful! More importantly Mark and Francois are incredible hosts - they were friendly, considerate and offered us a lot of valuable tips (including the best tapas in town). We had a wonderful time - highly recommend!

  • My friend and I stayed for 6 nights with Mark and Francois and enjoyed a great time in Barcelona and this is also due to their hospitality and this wonderful and cosy apartment. Thanks a lot for having us! Top surrounding with lots of restaurants, bars and cafes. Clean and lovely designed flat. Thank you very much for your great hospitality and your quick assisance in any questions we had. High recommendable!

  • Mark's apartment is great - the bedroom is small but clean and comfortable, and the location is wonderful. The kitchen is also small (hey, it's Barcelona) but again very neat and clean, with everything that one could want. We didn't use it much, because we were spoiled for choice with the many cheap and good local cafes.

Mark was a very attentive host, and we would have no hesitation in returning to his apartment or recommending it to others.

  • Mark and his partner are 2 nice people and quite hospitable. The room they are offering within their apartment is very very small, just a bit bigger than the double bed in the room. Not sure why they are calling it a "double room" as they are only renting out one small room, the other is there's. There is no floor mat or rug in the room, there is no bed stand to put things on and the lighting is weak. The hot water works on gas and for some reason went cold in some of the showers - wasn't a great experience.
The smell of cooking in the small and not so ventilated apartment and the noise made at night some evenings are OK, if you are used to hostels or dormitories, if you are already a hotel user than it is less than great. The location is quite good, although there are better in Barcelona, it is only 500 M's from the subway and that's always a good thing. I would say that for the money I paid it was OK, but at the end of the day I longed for something a bit more than what they are offering.

    Gloria,
This is our first complaint! I don't know what you were expecting but you got exactly what was listed on the airbnb website?
We are friendly, accommodating people and we love meeting new people
We have met and become friends with people from all over the world but you really behaved like a total arsehole.
Perhaps you should adjust your attitude, chill out and stop being such a dick, enjoy life and all that it gives us and spend less time looking for problems?
Maybe then you can enjoy life?
And if you want a hotel then pay for hotel

  • Lovely, lovely, lovely. Totally agree with the previous reviews, Mark and François are really nice, discreet and welcoming people.
Moreover, the apartment is nicely located not far from Mont-Juic, 3 min walk from the metro and 1 min from a cool, Michelin-awarded tapas bar. I loved the Poble-Sec area, lively without being overwhelemed by tourists. The apartment is clean and tidy, i mean.. really tidy! Just be aware you have 4 floors to get in, but unless you're on a wheelchair, this is no major problem.
