The Neighborhood

Navona Square, the most beautiful baroque square in Rome, sits on the ancient ring of the Stadium of Domitian – also known as Circus Agonalis – built in 85 AD to host Greek athletic events, agones, with the typical rectangular shape of the arena with its curved northern side.
Surrounded by two imposing travertine arcades, decorated with Ionian and Corinthian capitals, it could host up to 30,000 people, who accessed through the two main entrances located in the middle of its longer sides. The square came back to life in the second half of the 15th century, when it started to host the market. In 1485, it was paved to favour the several festivals and processions that were starting to take place there more and more often.
In the 16th century, the square was enriched with the fountains donated by Pope Gregory XIII Boncompagni; then, Pope Innocent X ordered the construction of the majestic Pamphili Palace on the land owned by his family. The Palace was built by Girolamo Rainaldi and embellished by marvellous frescos, a Gallery by Borromini and several art works.
The Square was meant to celebrate the prestige of the Pamphili family, within a sort of competition with the Barberini and Farnese families, so Innocent X ordered the construction of the palace and the decoration of the square with very valuable works. Some pre-existing buildings were pulled down and the main architects of the time fought very hard to get the job.

  • We have just stayed at Simone's apartment and it was our first time staying at a place booked through Airbnb.

We really enjoyed our stay at his apartment. Simone is a very friendly host who went out of his way to make sure we had a good time in Rome.

The apartment is comfortable enough for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 young children). It was great that the apartment had 2 bathrooms.

The location is very central with the Pantheon just around the corner making it easy to visit to beat the crowds. We could easily walk to all of the major sites.

I would definitely recommend Simone's apartment.

  • We were 5 people and had a lovely trip at Simone's. The house is in a perfect location to see the best of Rome. 3 minute walk to Piazza Navona, 15 minute walk to Vatican... Simply we walk everywhere without having any trouble.

Simone was very helpfull, welcoming and response all the questions we had even before we got in Rome. When we met he guide us and give recommendations.

House is big enough even we were 5 people, in a quite and secure place and had Wi-Fi. Before going, just make sure the house is clean and had clean sheets by reaching Simone.

If any chance we can see Rome again, this home will be our first choice. Simone thanks for everything.

  • The four of us had a really pleasant experience in Rome at Simone's. The apartment is great; lots of space, cozy rooms and quiet. The two bathrooms were clean and well furnished, likewise the kitchen and dining area. The only disadvantages were the few kitchen utensils and the slow wifi-connection. Nonetheless, perfect place to stay when in Rome, very well located and Simone as a very nice host! Anytime again!

  • This was my first Airbnb stay and my friends and I had such a great experience at Simone's apartment. The location was amazing, the apartment was large and very nice, and Simone was super responsive and welcoming. He gave us recommendations for places to go and was accommodating to our early departure time. I highly recommend this apartment! Thanks Simone!

  • Simone's apartment was perfect for a trip to Roma! His apartment is in the perfect location and is within walking distance to the colosseum and the Vatican. The apartment was clean and very comfortable and we were very pleased. Simone even made sure we had a way to get to and from the airport and was there to meet us when we got to his house. Simone told us all the good places to eat at and where the fun places were in Roma. His apartment is also very cheap for the quality you are getting. I would recommend his apartment to anyone and I will be staying there again when I go back to Roma. Thank you again Simone!

  • We are a group of 4 friends who came to Rome for 4 days and very much enjoyed our holiday staying in Simone's place. The location is absolutely fantastic - and it seriously upgraded our holiday to be able to stop by the flat in the middle of the day to drop off a coat, grab a snack, or rest for a moment. The apartment is very true to how it is shown in the photos, and is very spacious and comfortable.
I had TONS of questions to Simone in the process of booking and he was very kind and patient addressing everything till I was ready to book. Also during our stay Simone was responsive over text msgs. Overall - highly recommended!
