Dorothy's Lodge is a wonderful property in the heart of the Rideau Lakes that can accommodate groups up to 31 people! This property features docking for 3 boats, great swimming, great fishing, and exploring.
It is located, within walking distance to the Cataraqui Trail (great place for biking and hiking), convenience store with beer/liquor, etc, Opinicon Lodge Restaurant, historic Chaffey's Lock and the Lockmaster's Museum, Cedars Art Studio, and Boat rentals at Brown's Marina.com. The Opinicon Resort is only a 5 minute walk from this property for a great dinner, drinks in the pub, or for the best Ice-cream anywhere! Motorboats, pontoon boats, kayaks, Canoe, and bikes can also be rented within walking distance! By boat:you have access to six lakes without locking through. Also the town of Newboro accessible by boat where there is fine dining and great Shopping.
The dock has a beach swimming area and a 20x20 foot dock with great swimming and lots of room to lounge. The fishing is great from the main dock where you can catch your fill of sun-fish and rock-bass, and if you are lucky a large-mouth bass or two.
This property is unlike any other available on the Rideau, a great place for family reunions, fishing derbies etc..
There are four cottages with a lawn between them with a fire pit and room to throw frisbees, footballs etc.

Please note that Dorothy's now has new owners. It is still the same management company, but there have been some changes to the property such as the main lodge is now occupied by the owners of the property. The owners will be there during your stay, but will respect your privacy and will be available if there are any problems or questions. The other 4 buildings can sleep up to 31 people.
There are several golf courses in the area, the Chaffey’s Lock Hall is a one minute walk and can be rented for meetings for up to 85 people. Catering also available.
Dorothy’s Lodge is located conveniently at the halfway point between Toronto and Montreal, 40 minutes from the Canada/USA border, only one hour and 10 minutes from Ottawa, making it an excellent place for extended families to congregate.
Please note that we rent only the whole property out to one group/booking at a time.
The Rideau Canal is recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and was rated #2 as an exceptional historic site destination by National Geographic.
The Rideau Lakes Region is a great place to explore. You can take advantage of the great fishing, boating, swimming, water-skiing, or lock through the historic canal system to the other attached lakes and towns. In the surrounding towns and cities there are also lots of activities, and events to participate in including, golf, historic tours, boat tours, shopping restaurants, parties, and lots more!

The space
At one with nature, but a short walk from ice cream shops, two marinas, two art galleries, a great restaurant, and a convenience store with liquor/beer. The Cataraqui biking/hiking trail runs beside this property and there are bike rentals and kayak/canoe rentals within walking distance.

Hi. I enjoy living in the country and working from home so that I can be here for my kids before and after school. We like to travel in the winter as there’s no time in the summer, but try to get out on the lake as often as we can.
