About this listing
Blue Flower Hill exists as the remaining few acres of an old farm located a mile and a half from Charlottesville's Historic Downtown Pedestrian Mall with all it's offerings, including restaurants, cafes, live arts and film theaters, music venues, bookstores, galleries, gift shops and yoga studios, etc. It is a quaint park-like property with a lush landscape, including a large meadow, 200-year old oak and poplar trees, dogwoods, redbuds, magnolias, rhododendron, blue spruce and a kitchen herb and flower cutting garden; all situated on a private lane in a seven-acre neighborhood consisting of just a few cottage-style homes. There is a contracted home security system in addition to an active neighborhood watch. Of the 1,800 interior square feet of living space here, the guest bedroom includes a queen size bed, bedside tables, a chest of drawers, writing desk, and comfortable chair. The dedicated 50 square-foot guest full bathroom with a European-style soaking tub equipped with a sitting shower (see photo) is located just steps away from the guest bedroom. There is an additional guest bedroom, aka "the glass room" with a rustic queen sized bed and bedside tables. It is included, if desired, with an additional $40 per night fee for one person and $60 per night for two. Please, feel free to contact me for more detail, if you wish. The fully equipped kitchen and dining room are yours to share, as is the great room for relaxing. While a full breakfast is not included, you will find coffee, tea, granola, fruit, yogurt and coconut milk for your consumption. The wrap around patio and covered porch have chairs and tables. Wireless DSL is present. If you desire to check-in an hour or so earlier than specified herein, let it be known in advance and an attempt will be made to accommodate your need to do so. There are wild animals which pass through from time to time, too, not the least of them being a nice variety of birds, deer, rabbits, squirrels, raccoons, foxes and the occasional woodchuck. Welcome to Charlottesville!
A master bathroom with soaking tub, sink and toilet dedicated to the guests. Additionally, there is a second (non-dedicated) bathroom with a walk-in shower which can be utilized, too but not on an exclusive basis, i.e., this is the bathroom the host uses and where the laundry (washer & dryer) is located; which, by the way, can be utilized upon request on a limited basis. Of course, the living room, dining room, kitchen and outdoor porches are available to guests, too.
Interaction with Guests
I enjoy all animals, including humans and interact with guests to the extent they wish to do so :-))
It's quaint, a haven for birds and other wildlife, yet easily accessible and just over a mile from Charlottesville's Historic Downtown Pedestrian Mall, aka, Main Street.
There is public transit but it does not stop at Blue Flower Hill. It stops about a quarter mile from Blue Flower Hill, the latter of which is located just over a mile from Main Street.
Other Things to Note
Life is good at Blue Flower Hill and I like to share it with others of kindred spirit. Cheers :-))
Please, be kind and considerate. The Golden Rule is adhered to at Blue Flower Hill. Thanks, folks.
Many call me by my two middle names, Bu (pronounced "boo") or Poates (like "boats") or both. I've retired from a few decades-long natural resources related career and remain involved; occasionally addressing certain issues and speaking by invitation on the topics of mindful leadership and social entrepreneurship at a number of universities and other forums. I'm still learning to play guitar, about organic gardening, the practice of yoga and I enjoy walking along the nearby Rivanna River paved trail four miles, almost daily. As an aside, some of the reviews here mention my former tenant-housemate who, although delightfully helpful, was not my wife, as assumed by some who've stayed here. Cheers.
