Beautiful sunny furnished room in lovely, elegantly restored Victorian townhouse in a very desirable location 6 blocks from MIT and Harvard. THIS PROPERTY IS NOT AN APARTMENT, IT IS A HISTORICAL TOWNHOUSE.
Quiet street, 1 block to Central T subway and hubway bicybles. The house is in a vibrant area with lots of cool pubs, restaurants, bookstores, art galleries, grocery stores, banks, etc, but on a very quiet side street, so it offers the best of all worlds.
No kitchen or common areas, host not in residence, just a wonderful location, and perfect for those seeking privacy. This small room with a twin bed measures 10' x7' and has all amenities. Shared bath (with lock). 1/2 block from Mass Ave., 1 block to MBTA. Wireless internet included, cable TV in each room, free parking subject to availability. There is a large lot a block away, on the corner of Bishop Allen Drive and Prospect Street, that is free from 5pm Friday to 7am Monday, and 5pm to 7am weekdays. There is also parking available nearby at 260 and 438 Green Street. On-street meteres are free from 6pm to 8am and Saturday 6pm to Monday 8am.
Perfect for a friendly but focused professional/visiting professor/grad student. Harvard/MIT visiting professors and PhD students often stay here as well. It is a quiet environment, perfect for studying or quiet rest.
Note: confidential key code provided prior to check-in. This is key-access service, host is not in residence. Caretaker nearby and from time to time in residence, always available to respond by phone or text to any problems, issues concerns or requests. Guests wishing interaction with a host would be most comfortable choosing a different accommodation.
We provide a great location and lovely, comfortable, private rooms, no host interaction. NB we have multiple listings, if dates are unavailable on this listing you may try one of the other listings. All listings are for the same rooms. Check-in 6pm, check-out 10am.
Check-in is 6pm and checkout is 10am. You are welcome to leave your bags early or late, no need to make special arrangements. The room will not be ready before 6pm. The cleaners are in the house at times throughout the day and night to ensure all is in order.
We are 2 blocks from the Central stop on the Red line. Signs at the airport inform how to get to the subway, Red line, and Central stops. We suggest you (website hidden) map the address and bring the directions with you, we don’t want to give you misleading directions.
There is a parking lot at the corner of Bishop Allen Drive and Prospect St. There is also parking available nearby at 260 and 438 Green Street. And, meters out front are free 6pm-8am weekdays and Saturday 6pm-Monday 8am.
Access is through keypad only, no keys. We will provide the code prior to check-in.
Please note that in the United States (and everywhere outside Europe), the ground level entry floor is universally referred to as the "first floor." In Europe, the "first floor" is one flight up from the American "first floor." Likewise, the "second floor" in the US is ONE flight up from the entry floor; in Europe it is TWO flights up from the entry floor. Guests are kindly requested to familiarize themselves with the non-European conventions of referring to floors.
Pets are permitted on an exception basis with specific advance permission. Pets are not permitted to be left alone in rooms. Pets are not allowed on the bed nor furniture. Bedspreads and linen found with pet hair will need to be replaced as some of our guests are allergic to pet hair. For pets reported making noise such as barking, owners will be contacted immediately. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Guests are kindly reminded that while pets are welcome, any damage or extra cleaning, including hair removal and special cleaning due to allowing pets on coverlets, beds, or anywhere else will result in extra charges. Your cooperation is appreciated. We hope you will appreciate that the next guest expects a clean, hair-free, pet-smell-free listing.
Similarly, there is no smoking allowed anywhere on the premises. This means smoking is not allowed on the front porch nor the sidewalk in front of the house, as loitering there is noted by neighbors and others. NOTE: if you smoke in the house, you will incur a $700 cleaning fee to get the smoke smell and residue out of linens and everywhere.
Guests are kindly requested to remove the sheets, pillowcases, and towels and leave them in the washing machine on day of departure. Please carry out any trash, including all food and beverage trash and containers, remove any articles left in the bath, and leave the room as it was found. The cleaners will do the heavy cleaning. I had a great stay at john's place. No surprises. John himself was not present during the stay but all information about booking, arrival, and departure is described on the airbnb page.
A beautiful three story house with independent access. Beautiful interior/exterior with gorgeous bathrooms and everything is cleaned regularly!
The only downside is the bed, which was a futon pad on a piece of plywood.
John was very communicative and helpful with access code and off hours entry.
The place was fine but the pictures are a bit unrealistic. There did not appear to be any common space so it's just straight to the room and to your bedroom.
This is a fine model for some guests but I found it very impersonal, despite the great communication with John.

This is an unhosted listing ( which is my first.) To be honest, I didn't realize it but I would have liked someone to be there to either welcome me or answer questions but to be fair the owner is VERY responsive to texts/emails so I guess it wasn't really a problem. I thought the facilities were adequate, a little more unkept than described but nothing unmanageable. Room is smaller than picture but serves it's purpose. Solid
John was very reponsive. We had a small issue of getting into the apartment late that night but within a 15 minutes he provided the key code needed. The room and bathroom were clean and I felt very comfortable there. Location was great.. close to nice places to eat, public transport and it was a nice quiet street.... I definatley look at staying here again on another weekend trip to Boston.
