John is a very easy host to work with. This listing is a hidden gem. It is true that the house has an older feel to it, but that makes it that much more interesting stay. The room was very clean with towels provided, as well as the bathroom, which had extra supplies of toilet paper/toiletries on hand. The keypad system works great, eliminating the need to carry around spare keys. Wi-fi is a bit slow, but the TV options are great. I was here during the big snowstorm, Neptune, so watched a couple movies for sure. Also got a chance to help the neighbor shovel off the porch, they were friendly. Parking is only a short walk away, as are local restaurants. All-In-All a great stay.
The house is in a great location close to public transport, shops and cafes at Central. Our second floor room was large, spacious and well looked after and the queen bed was very comfortable. The room had a good selection of reading material and TV channels and a nice homely feel. Whilst a communal bathroom, it was clean.
John's communication upon booking was prompt and he provided us with the code to leave our luggage in the hallway prior to the 6pm check in. In the end we decided against this as the hallway is narrow and we had a lot of luggage plus it is accessible to other guests.
Unfortunately, John's communication on the code for our specific room was less than desirable. Despite a 6pm check in time and a number of emails, texts and phone calls at this time, we did not hear back from John and thus were unable to access our room until 9:30 pm.
The anxiety, confusion and stress caused by this unforeseen late check in at the beginning of our stay ultimately tarnished our overall view of, what what have otherwise been a pleasant stay.
It is a terrific location with decent facilities. It is self managed and unhosted property, hence we need to ensure that every thing should be kept in tact. It has large Bed room with majestic view of Inman Street and another large wash room ( shared) . No hassles of room keys, hosts etc. I had a nice and comfortable stay for two weeks.
The picture was not of the bedroom that we had. I think some updating needs to be done on the bedroom and bathroom
This place is in a nice neighbourhood on a very cute street which was super close to the subway and a short stroll from cafe's, restaurants and even downtown Boston.
There is no one onsite, as per the listing, John is very easy to get a hold of if/when needed. Although the room was nice, the pictures are a little misleading as our room did not look like the one on the listing.
I received the codes for the front door and my bedroom in the morning of my arrival (very easy). The house is located in the center of Cambridge, 5 min walk from central T station, in a very quiet street. Although the bedroom (and the house itself) was old fashion, the room and bathroom (this one would need to be refreshed) were clean. My bed room was very big and pleasant (the bed very comfortable). After 12 nights at john's place, I think it is not a 3* place, but nice enough for having a very good stay in Boston-Cambridge ! Thanks
