Our house rules are fairly straightforward + common sense based.
Please check in at a reasonable hour (before 11pm). If this is not possible, please coordinate your arrival with us to arrange for a late check in.
We live in the front house and are available for any questions.
Smoking is permitted on the property (in fact it is quite lovely to do so sitting in front of the fire) but we'd prefer you smoke outside and preferably with the windows closed :)
This was our 2nd stay at The Garden at Edenhurst. The unit is appointed so well. Everything needed to cook is available in a well stocked kitchen.
Shops and restaurants are within walking distance. You stroll along tree lined streets, so charming and quaint!
We couldn't feel more at home!
Brian and Alejandra are wonderful hosts! Thank you
The neighborhood was beautiful and within walking distance to many nice restaurants. The French doors in the living area lead to a private area of the patio which is very quiet and pretty. The mattress on the bed was excellent. The bathroom was extremely functional and beautiful. The refrigerator worked well as did the garbage disposal. I used the laundry facilities in their garage which was very handy.
There were a few issues which need attention. First, there needs to be a screen on the bedroom window. Second, more than one functional burner on the vintage stove would have been nice. Third, I would have preferred a higher level of cleanliness on the upholstery on the couch and the removal of the cobwebs from the lamp shades.
The hosts were very nice people and responsive to issues I brought to their attention. I didn't think there was much point in trying to address the issues I have previously mentioned since I was staying there at the time. Those repairs and that kind of cleaning would not have been quick fixes.
Thank you for the review Kathleen. Alejandra and I run an architecture firm and respond very quickly to a wide range of concerns. If any tenant has any issue whatsoever, we strongly prefer to hear about it immediately so that we have the opportunity to satisfy guests needs.
Specifically - the screen on the bedroom window has been removed for the AC unit which we would have been happy to install for you had you requested it.
Secondly, there are three functional burners on the stove, we would have gladly shown you how to operate it. Vintage items are charming but occasionally temperamental.
We understand your concerns regarding cleanliness and pay a service. Had you mentioned it sooner we would have gotten the service to ameliorate your concerns. We are changing services as a result and are very sorry you felt this way.
Your choice to not address these items was a personal one, but certainly not a productive one, as we could have surprised you and ensured a happy stay. Yours is the first less than flattering review we have had in three years.
Most, if not all, of those items could have been taken care of in a day. These fixes could have also easily been taken care of when you were out of the house so as not to interfere with your time.
We appreciate your input and will certainly keep some of your feedback in mind. We wish you all the best in your future travels.
Listing was perfect and exact. Beautiful home with friendly/helpful hosts. Spot and atmosphere were better than I could have hoped for. Would love to stay again some day.
The cottage is beautiful and exactly like described. The kitchen is full appointed and the backyard is perfect to relax. I would definitly come back.
They were super easy to communicate with. They had everything we had asked for and more.
We enjoyed four relaxing nights at The Garden of Edenhurst. The cottage was very clean, well-appointed and comfortable. The garden is quiet and lovely. Alejandra was an attentive host, leaving us clear instructions and answering our questions promptly. We look forward to staying here often, especially since our grandson and his parents live two doors down.
We were met by the caretaker. The listing was reasonably accurate. The neighborhood with proximity to Griffith Park and Atwater Village restaurants was a plus.

Bryan (my husband and business partner) and I are designers. We live in Atwater Village where we rent our our back house (and occasionally our front house) on Air BnB. We enjoy design, objects, furniture, films, music and great food. We're friendly and easy going. We have two fantastic golden retrievers (linus and lulu) who are litter mates that were found in the trash in San Diego and a cat (winston) who believes he's a dog. In absence of children, they come with us everywhere we go (and are likely good at architecture by now). We will take care of your home as though it were our own and would ask you do the same:)
