The space

Charming 1 bedroom apartment in a quiet neighborhood. Easy access to transit and tourist areas.

You will enjoy your stay in San Francisco in this cozy, beautiful apartment. This fully furnished apartment will comfortably sleep three people. There is a luxurious queen-size bed in the bedroom and a sofa in the living room which folds down to make a second bed. There is also a portable crib available. The kitchen is fully equipped with refrigerator, stove, oven, granite counters, microwave, coffee machine, toaster, cooking and eating utensils. You'll find a selection of teas and coffee, as well as some basic condiments, all complimentary. Clean sheets and towels are supplied. There is a coin-op laundry one block away if you need to do laundry.
There is a garden out the back where you can sit out on a lovely day.

We are conveniently located two blocks from Golden Gate Park, and it's main attractions (Calif. Academy of Sciences, DeYoung Museum, Japanese Tea Garden, Conservatory of Flowers) are within walking distance. USF is two minutes walk away. Within 15 minutes walking is the Haight-Ashbury district and UCSF to the south, the Presidio, Geary and Clement St. business corridors to the north. Just down the street is Rossi Recreation Center, with pool, tennis courts, and playground. This is a very safe neighborhood to walk around.

We are located right along a bus line that will take you downtown to the Union Square area, financial district and Embarcadero. Street parking is plentiful, but there are restrictions during the day.

This apartment is a quiet and comfortable place to unwind after a day exploring San Francisco. Enjoy your stay!

Guest access

You will have a fully private apartment, including private bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. There is a garden out the back that is shared and you are welcome to enjoy. Help yourself to lemons or herbs, but please leave the rest of the vegetables that are growing.

Interaction with guests

This unit is fully private with direct access from the street. I live upstairs and am available to answer any questions you might have. I'm often out of town but am reachable by phone.

The neighborhood

The Lone Mountain neighborhood (also part of the Inner Richmond neighborhood) is the home of the University of San Francisco. It is a quiet, residential neighborhood with basic amenities such as cafes, laundry, and groceries.

Getting around

The public transportation in SF is pretty good. From the apartment, there is a bus line that will take you to the city center. You catch the 31 bus at Arguello and Turk, one block from the apartment, and get off at Powell & Market St. It’s about a 25 minute ride. At Powell and Market St., there are many options. Union Square and the major shopping district is in this area. You can also catch the cable car here, which will take you on a scenic ride to Fisherman’s Wharf, a major tourist destination.

The tourist information center is also located here, where you can buy a Muni Passport that will give you unlimited rides on busses, street cars, and cable cars. I highly recommend it. A 7 day pass costs $29. Look up "sfmta muni passport" for more information.

Back at the apartment, there is another bus that runs along Arguello Blvd., one block from the apartment. It is the 33 bus. This bus takes you to the Haight-Ashbury, Castro, and Mission district neighborhoods, which are unique neighborhoods that offer a more local feel.

Other things to note

Parking Notes

I generally recommend to visitors not to have a car unless you will be making day trips outside the city. There are many good transportation options to get around within the city. However, if you really need a car you will need a parking permit.

You can get a Muni Passport that will give you unlimited rides on busses, street cars, and cable cars. Also, if you have an iPhone or Android phone there are applications that will summon a car to take you wherever you need to go. This is similar to taxi service but is much better. Type "sf ridesharing services" into your search engine. I recommend SideCar.

Comfortable. Close to restaurants and shops. Great to get to the Goldengate park, which was fantastic. A little further to get to downtown, but was a cheap uber ride. Quiet neighbourhood at night, i.e. no noise, so a great sleep every night. We rented a car on the last day of our stay, and didn't have a problem finding a parking spot, albeit it was a couple of blocks away. Phil answered all our queries quickly, and was a great host.

Phil's 1-br apartment was perfect for my 3-month stay! The area is very safe and quiet, and there is a laundromat a block away that is open from 6A-11:30P every day. There is also a small market about 2 blocks away a few restaurants, coffee shops and bars within walking distance. The internet works great. The bed is very comfortable. The backyard was perfect for my little travel pup to relax and play. The Golden Gate park is a 5-10 min walk! It's a quick 15 min Uber/Lyft into the city. Phil was great; he quickly responded to any questions I had and made me feel very welcome! I would definitely recommend his place while visiting SF!

We really enjoyed being our stay at Phil's place. The location was good and it was easy to access public transport. Phil provided a really useful guide to the flat, transport and places of interest too.
