We welcome you to stay at our charming house in a vibrant but safe neighborhood in Hyde Park. Our historic neighborhood emanates small-town charm from local coffee shops and markets, historic homes, well-tended
This is our guest bedroom where you can have a peaceful night's rest. **This photo is not yet updated. We now have a queen bed in our guest room.
The Room: You will be staying in our extra bedroom with a queen size bed. When we do not have guests the bedroom functions as an office so you'll have access to a 7 ft long desk and our computer thats connected to a large flat screen tv.
Ammenities: You will also have shared use of our kitchen, a nice clean bathroom, and our beautiful living room. We provide towels, fresh linens, keys, wifi, and access to our mountain bike named Raleigh.
Ashley & Jake: We are a young couple in our twenty-thirties who love cycling, going out to see live music, great food and wine, meeting new people and just enjoying life to the fullest! Ashley is a graduate student at UT and Jake is a chef downtown so its likely you'll have the house all to yourself for a couple of hours a day.
Taco Cat: We also have the sweetest most adorable calico that shares the apartment with us as well. She loves to be pet but typically keeps to herself. Let us know if you have any allergies, we will be sure to keep her out of your room during your stay.
THE LOCATION: Hyde Park
We are located in Hyde Park, which is an fun trendy area for young professionals and graduate students just walking distance away from some quaint restaurants and coffee shops such as:
-Quacks: Coffee shop with great pastries and tons of people coworking
-Mothers: adorable veggie & vegan friendly restaurant
-Juiceland: Great selections of juices, delicious ice cream at Sweet Ritual, and even a cool record store inside
-The Flagstore: A convenience store with hands down the best beer selection in all of Austin
-Dolce Vita: coffee and sorbet shop with alcohol spiked sorberitas
-Biscuits & Groovy: Breakfast comfort food perfect after a late night out
Car: If you will have a car, we are about 15 minutes to Zilker Park, 12 minutes away from downtown, 8 minutes from The Capital, and 5 minutes from UT there is always street parking directly in front of the apartment.
Bikes: We have one guest bike (with lights & a lock) that you can borrow to get around! Biking is one of the easiest and fastest ways to get around in Austin, and it's also one of the best ways to really get to know the city! We have a couple of bike maps you can borrow and If we are available we would love to give you a tour!
Bus: There are lots of bus connections from here that can get you anywhere in the city cheap and quick. Since we are close to the university the bus stops frequently at multiple stops one street away from our house. Its only $2 for a day pass and $9 for the week.
Everything was great in Jake and Ashley's home. I felt extremely well-cared for. One of the first things Ashley said was: let me know if you need anything to make this better, and Jake asked me the last night I was there: 'how was it in there?' (my room). Both indicate graciousness.
Ashley and Jake were both super sweet and super cool! They put air in the bikes tires for me even though I wasn't sure if I would use the bike or not (which I didn't). :/ The bed and pillows were really comfortable as well. My only regret is not spending more time with Taco. Thanks for the room, you guys!
Ashley and Jake are good people. Everything was cool and and as advertised. Thanks guys.
Staying with Ashley and Jake was wonderful! They responded quickly to our request to stay and we were able to stay the day that we made the request. We had plenty of privacy, but they were also fun to chat with. Taco the cat is the sweetest and the bed was very comfy! Would definitely stay again.
My boyfriend and I enjoyed using the bikes to get around Austin (bike tours can be pricey). If you are easy going and don't mind sharing a bathroom, this is a good option.
Ashley and Jake were great to stay with. The room was comfy, and inspite of cold weather over the weekend, the house was cozy and warm. The room was just as described, and they were accommodating to early check in, leaving us keys. My boyfriend and I made great use of bikes, TV and the proximity to downtown. We also really enjoyed their sweet cat Taco.
I really enjoyed my stay at Ashley's & Jakes's place. They were great hosts and made me feel right at home. Their place is very accessible from downtown Austin via Capitol Metro or with a cool bicycle made at your disposal! The room was as described and was clean & comfortable.
Thanks again guys!

I'm originally from New Orleans but relocated to Las Vegas after Hurricane Katrina. I worked in every industry from nightlife, culinary, education, marketing and large-scale event production but left it all to move to Austin. Now I am earning my graduate degree in urban planning from the University of Texas at Austin.
Jake and I met in Vegas through a bike co-op we used to operate called Bike Bucket /Fremont Bike Clinic. Jake is originally from Chicago and is a chef who has also dabbled in the film industry.
We both love to ride bikes and use them as our main source of commute on a daily basis.
