HUTTE No 002393
The five large independent en-suite bedrooms have cool tiles and underfloor heating. There are huge walk-in wardrobes and large wet-rooms. They all have their own front door and sunny terrace, two of them are partially shaded by olive trees and there is also a big dining terrace which is also partially shaded by a huge olive tree.
There is a wonderful summer kitchen with a barbecue for you to use that is big enough to do paella for your party. There's power along with benches and tables. This is at the far end of the rooms has a big barbecue with light and power.
There are three double rooms and two twin bedded rooms. One room is a dedicated wheelchair friendly room with ramps for access and a modified access bathroom. It has extra wide doors into the wardrobe and bathroom. We can set this room up for you with the options of a double bed or low level singles. Each room on the farm will accommodate two easily.
The kitchen is extremely well equipped and the living and dining space has comfy sofas, books, games and music, with just a glimpse of the sea twinkling across the delta.
Much of the farm is easily accessible and flat and there is a Petanca/Boules/Pétanque court laid out for you to use.
Our pool is about 22 square meters and 1.2 m deep is ideal for cooling off in and safely placed behind a gate for children. There is a lovely sun terrace beside the pool that has the sun in the afternoon and through until it goes down, though it's not really suitable for spending all day round.
The farm is a marvellous place to explore; there are seven and a half acres to discover so it's easy to find yourself somewhere to sit under a tree with or without a book, with or without company when you are taking a day off from sight seeing and playing on the beach. There are hammocks to lie in and plenty of places to play hide and seek for children.
We have chickens and ducks to amuse you as well as our 3 lovely dogs. We do ask for you to shut the gates.
Interaction with guests
As we work and live on the farm, we are here all the time should you need any help, advice or information. If we are working we can usually stop to chat or give directions or open a bottle!
Manna house is a perfect spot for groups of friends or a couple of big families to explore the Costa Dorada, Tarragona and Tortosa and the Ebre Delta and wetlands.
Whether you are packing walking boots or mountain bike, wet suit or swimsuit, watercolours or paperbacks there is something for you to do in this beautiful area.
While you are here make sure you see the delta and the mountains, the castle at Miravet and the potteries there. Try to catch a Castells event if you can,
Not to miss... Menu del dia. Four courses, wine, water and coffee... around €10 per head at many local restaurants along the N340.
The closest airport is Reus at 45-50 minutes distance, Barcelona is next at just one and 3/4 hours. There are good rail and bus links to local villages but to get to the farm itself you really need a car. Shops are about 9k from the property.
There is plenty of parking at the farm. We have bikes to hire and there are great places to walk.
Other things to note
We are running an off the grid low impact farm and make all our on electricity through solar panels. This means we look after the planet's resources. Water comes from a deep aquifer and has to be pumped twice by electricity to get it to a tap. During the summer it may not rain for three or four months. Water is very, very precious here. So we ask for short showers, and for guests to be re-cycling washing-up water. All our power comes from the sun. Please don't leave lights on. HUTTE 002393
About the Property.
This is a working farm with olives, almonds and carobs and we have fruit trees and vines. Manna House is as self sustaining as possible. We have solar panels and inverter for electricity and pump our own water from a borehole 230m deep.
As we have no mains drainage we run a septic tank system so please don't put sanitary towels, wet wipes, cotton buds etc down the toilet.
Use the cleaning chemicals provided for the toilet.
The fly screens will stop insects from coming in the windows. In the summer months we make the bed up with light cotton covers. There are more pillows linen and quilts available if you feel you want them. Please just ask.
Wildlife: We have an abundance of reptiles, birds and mammals here. Broadly speaking they are much more scared of you than you are of them. Just make some noise and they will go away. Sometimes the little geckos get into the house. They eat the spiders and flies. If you are uncomfortable with them in the house please feel free to try to shoo them out or just leave a door open!
It is strictly forbidden to light an open fire in the countryside. The olive trees can catch alight in a matter of seconds and the fire will spread extremely fast! We are, as you know, a non-smoking establishment.
Please feel to use the roof terrace on the Casa. You can take the outside furniture anywhere on the finca but remember to bring it back (It may never be seen again!)
There are three hammocks around the farm hanging from the olive trees for you to use.
Pool: The pool is a fresh water system, sun block and other chemicals reduce the clarity and quality of the water so please do your best to rinse these off before going in, there is a watering can beside the pool which warms up beautifully!
As we have three dogs we are sorry but we cannot accept dogs, dog lovers, yes.
Hello, I am Amanda and my husband is Simon. We live exactly half way between Barcelona and Valencia along the Mediterranean coast of Spain. We are ex-pats and enjoying the sunshine and space here in Catalonia. We both come from a hospitality and food background and so we know how to look after our guests. We are offering space on our Olive and Almond farm for people who want to see Spanish Spain and get some peace and quiet. We have dogs and chickens and make our own electricity and pump our own water. Drop in if you are passing and see what's happening this week.
