The area surrounding Scotts Head ( Nambucca Vally) is rated by the CSIRO as the most liveable climate in Australia. Being Sub tropical / Temperate the coast also benefits from the warm East Coast current that runs south from Queensland giving Summer water temps. of 20 to 24 degs celsius.
The house is surrounded on three sides by native bush, a small creek runs just metres from the house (so do the kangaroos..!). great mix of bird life and absolute privacy for sun bathing.
Scotts Head is primarly a beach side village (pop. 800) with a small supermarket, take away/coffee shop, baker, butcher, liquor store, Chemist and a fabulous restaurant (Taverna 6) featuring Greek / Aust. Fusion style cuisine at very reasonable prices. It's also Sydney Morning Herald "Good Food Guide" rated.
All the village shops are about a 5 min walk from the house. Closest major town is Macksville (pop. 7000) situated 15min by road. Nearest airport is Coffs Harbour (55min) with flights to and from all Australian capital cities.
Major activities include surfing, fishing, snorkelling, river canoeing, bush walking, bird watching, whale and dolphin watching, or just doing nothing!
Relaxed coastal lifestyle (everybody waves to each other!). Not very far from civilisation.....but far enough. The house is very nice, very comfortable and very open, but it's the location that makes all the differance.....
Do a (website hidden) Maps satellite , you'll see what I mean...Australia's best kept secret...shh...don't tell anyone!
No pets inside ( including kangaroos )
No smoking inside.
Just respect my house as you would have me yours.
Most importantly, You MUST have fun and ENJOY yourselves.
Tom was a wonderful host. Very prompt in his responses and a wealth of information about the local area.
The house was exactly as described and was a chilled and spacious place to stay. The location was a short drive to the beach and shops. I would recommend Tom's place especially for a family with kids.
What a gem of a place! Tom's
bungalow is in a perfect spot backing on to beautiful bushland and only a few minutes walk to the gorgeous beaches of Scott's Head. The main bedroom opens out onto a big backyard, which feels totally secluded - just the chirping birds and the sound of the ocean. Tom was a wonderful host with great communication and the house has everything you need for a relaxing getaway. Tip: There is a supermarket in SH but it is relatively limited - stock up on food in Kempsey (except for seafood! Scott's friend Bushy has the best in town).
I stayed at Tom's place over the x-mas to new year period, with two friends. We had a great time! It is very comfortable, spacious and private as the back deck faces trees. Tom is a great host and was always available to help if we needed anything. The beaches are beautiful to walk along and little rock pools to swim in which are amazing. The people in the town are lovely and polite also. The countryside is beautiful. I would definitely recommend this place especially if you are looking to chill out somewhere quiet and get away from it all.
Tom's a great host, and his lovely home a pleasure to stay in. It has all the amenities you would expect in top quality accommodation, and it's in a beautiful quiet, private position. I'll be back!
I thought I would get in before the crowd for Mother's Day and treated my mother to an early Mothers Day week at Toms Modern Bungalow..
On arrival we were greeted by this lovely freestanding bungalow with amazing surroundings.
We had a slight technical hiccup with the internet, but it was resolved within 12 hours and we couldn't have done it without Toms prompt communication. Tom was such a pleasure to deal with :-)
The Bungalow has everything you need if you were to stay for months on end, virtually a plug and play environment.
We look forward to many more stays and we cannot wait to escape the hustle and bustle of Sydney for a relaxing carefree Bungalow.
Tom's home is a gem. Very private, but spacious and open - a perfect place to unwind, relax, and do . . . . absolutely nothing!! It was fantastic to open up the master bedroom doors and watch/listen to all the birds in the mornings. As other reviews have stated, the house is bigger than it looks in the photographs. Scott's head itself is a sleepy place the world seems to have forgotten - at times we could've sworn we were back in the 1960's. We even had the beach to ourselves one evening.
We stayed at Tom's place over the Christmas ,new year period and had one the most relaxing ,invigorating holidays ever.
When we first arrived we were totally stunned the house is amazing ,the picture on airbnb do not show how spacious modern and refreshing the layout is.
The house is equipt with everything your could ever need, with the added advantage of being all top quality and sleeping in the main bedroom with the doors open listening to bush noises and the clear sky was heavenly.
Did not need to contact Tom as everything was in place ( all the numbers for Tom and his brother were there quest in case )
We use Airbnb for all our holidays and this one is at the top of our list
Living on the South Pacific Coast in Australia is pretty relaxed, so that's contaegious.
Enjoy doing anything outdoors. Reading, movies and cooking with wine (sometimes I actually add it to the food) if I'm stuck indoors.
Traveled most places. Europe, Scandinavia, Asia,Pacific- Australasia, Southern Africa and North America....that leaves South America & North Africa to go...can't wait.
My major hobby / recreationis Race and Tarmac Rally Driving which can be a nice change of pace from the peace and tranquility of " Frog Hollow" in Scotts Head.
All up, I'd have to say that I have a pretty curious nature that tries to see the funny/stupid side of most things.
Dislikes..?............ Very small savage dogs...........and cooking without wine...!
