Vibrant neighborhood

Guests say this area is walkable with lots to explore, especially for dining out.
One block from RiverWalk! Comes with parking space - a rarity in central downtown! Unique industrial, eclectic studio with barrel ceilings and a skylight in the Historic McClellan Livery building in the absolute best location downtown! Secure and gated building in old New Orleans style. Explore everything Historic downtown has to offer and never get in your car! You're just steps from great restaurants, the Riverwalk, shops, museums, breweries and more!

The space
This super unique ca. 1914 space in a gated building has high barrel ceilings, a skylight and unique architectural features that make it a one-of-a-kind stay. The studio is about 350SF but has all the comforts of home including a full kitchen with granite counters and all dishes, pots and utensils. Space is heated and cooled and has a soft, inviting queen bed. Towels and linens are provided as well as some bath basics if you need them. Decor is urban, artistic, industrial...combining the unique tastes of your hosts. The best features? We provide a dedicated parking space behind the building...something nearly impossible to find in the center of downtown! Simply park your car and walk to absolutely everything downtown Wilmington has to offer!

Guest access
Guests can enjoy the entire studio and the common areas inside the gate. There's a relaxing area upstairs to sit and read or play games. The downstairs patio is a nice spot to enjoy a glass of wine or a snack... it's all private. Laundry facilities (coin op) are available for your use. Please use the parking space designated... It's free.

Other things to note
If you need some staples, the Village Market is right across the street. We provide a parking space for you as well - a rarity in central downtown. Instructions are provided to confirmed guests. The area is quite safe but our parking lot is not gated so we do not recommend leaving bikes, surfboards, valuables or any easily accessible items on or in your vehicle.

Noise in the unit: Our space has a through the wall HVAC unit and a dehumidifier which cause some noise as they cycle on and off. If you're a very light sleeper, you may wish to bring earplugs or noise canceling headphones.... or you can simply turn the units off. You may also hear the rear door to the building closing in the courtyard. Downtown can be quite lively on weekends and during festivals with multiple breweries and night spots so you may hear music close by.

Location note: We've lived in Wilmington for a long time and find it quite safe downtown. Our building is gated, but keep in mind that downtown's popularity results a lot of visitors and sometimes folks overdo it in the bars, or others might be wandering around late at night after the venues close. If this makes you uneasy despite our building being gated, you may wish to find accommodation further from downtown since our location is right in the middle of things.

We provide linens and towels and there are typically a few extras in the walk in closet.

We have a darkening curtain hidden behind the window curtains if light from the courtyard is bothersome.

Six legged critters: I hate talking about this, but I must. Palmetto bugs are indigenous to our area and they are extremely prolific downtown since we are close to the river. They look like giant roaches and they're a fact of life here. They're quick and sneaky but don't want to be indoors any more than you want to see them. Despite having pest control, it is rare but possible you will see one inside, especially since we're on the ground floor and they're practically impossible to keep completely out if there's a door that opens. They're high on the ick factor but completely harmless and can be chased out or otherwise dispatched.

Neighborhood highlights

The heart of historic downtown Wilmington is where you will be located. You're right in the thick of it and there's almost always something going on. We love the neighborhood for the many activities available within just a few steps. Whether it be a casual stroll on the RiverWalk (voted America's #1 riverfront), great alfresco meal at one of the many great eateries, or some local music, downtown has it all. Our historic district, with its grand old homes is the largest in the state and the entirety of it is completely within walking distance. There are art galleries, local breweries, dinner cruises, carriage rides, haunted tours, occasional festivals, theater, and so much more! If you crave the sun and surf, our beautiful beaches are a short 15-20 minute ride away.

Originally from NYC, now relocated to North Carolina for over 20 years, I enjoy photography and travel. I've been an AirBNB guest in the USA and abroad so I understand what guests would like when sharing our home. I typically travel without set plans and enjoy letting the world guide me as it will. At the end of a day exploring, its great to stay somewhere that feels like a home... someplace lived in by a local. I make it a priority to create a welcoming and comfortable place to stay while guests are visiting our city and I'm always just a text away if suggestions are needed for sightseeing, dining and the like. I love where I live and make it a point to explore and seek out "the good stuff," which I'm happy to share with any one who may ask.
