I am glad to point y'all in the right direction so you can get a better idea of what New Orleans has to offer. Or if you like Bourbon St. its easy to find.
Located uptown in the university area. 3 blocks from streetcar line. 5 to 10 minute walk to over 30 restaurants, from local eateries (cheap and good, Adams st grocery) to some of New Orleans most famous restaurants (expensive and great, Jacqomos restaurant). Dozens of bars and live music venues also 5 to 10 minute walk away. About a 10 ($15) minute cab ride to Downtown, or take the streetcar for $1.25. Audubon Park, the Fly (park behind the zoo on Mississippi River) and the Zoo are a 15 minute walk away. The Fly is a great place to barbecue or just relax, with a beverage and watch the ships roll by. The neighbor hood is quiet and safe.
street car, walking distance to anything one would need. I have one bike (maybe two shortly) that guest are welcome to use.
Be respectful, and smoke cigarettes outside, no pets. thx
The home is lovely, an easy drive to Tulane and several hot spots. Parking was available right in front of the house. Andrew is a gracious host, providing fresh linens, towels, and a nice welcome package with local munchies and drinks. The shotgun house makes you feel part of the New Orleans culture. You walk into a nice anteroom, trapse through a first bedroom, pass the common bathroom, trek past another bedroom, then make your way to the nicely outfitted kitchen. Bright light greets you along the way, with big windows in every room.
Andrew was very receptive and hospitable. The location was great and everything was as listed. We would stay here again.
Our stay at Andrew's place in Nawlins was just what the four of us needed. House was tidy with drinks in the fridge when we arrived and it was an easy walk and street car ride into the French Quarter and Magazine street. Andrew also went out of his way to organising the house to be cleaned and organized a key when we arrived a bit earlier than expected. Thanks for making NYE in NOLA a great one Andy!
We had a great time in Andy's house. The location is lovely - quiet and leafy but with some really fun bars and restaurants within walking distance. You can also catch the tram to downtown easily.
The house itself was spotless and beautifully decorated. Andy was a super host, so friendly and happy to recommend places to eat and drink nearby. He even went to the trouble of stocking the fridge with cold drinks when we arrived. We slept well in the beds and had clean towels folded in the bathroom. I would highly recommend staying here. Thanks, Andy!
5 out of 5 stars. Very nice neighborhood close to Tulane University, Audubon Park, etc. The bathroom was beautiful and the place was very clean.
We chose this spot for a Tulane gameday, and it was absolutely a great choice!
Great house, great location (about .8 miles from Tulane University, and you don't have to cross St Charles, which is a plus if you are driving). Easy on street parking. Lovely porch swing. Fully stocked kitchen (though I think no microwave, ice maker or ice trays). Plenty of paper towels, toilet paper, shampoo and conditioner, and soap.
All very clean, uncluttered, and a lot of light. It felt new or very recently updated.
Air conditioning worked well
I would definitely stay here again.
The set up is a little funky., which is the only reason for four stars instead of five (wish I could give 4.5) Worked for us but might not for everyone. It is a shotgun setup. There are no halls. There is a front room, then a bedroom, then the bathroom and the second bedroom (both behind one door, so you have to go through the bedroom door to get to the only bathroom), and then the kitchen. So you have to walk through both bedrooms to get to the kitchen . And to exit you have to walk through both bedrooms. Also, there is no window covering on the front door, and the only way to lock the front door is to lock it from the inside with a key. (and later unlock it with a key).
Andrew's house was exactly what we were looking for during a week in NOLA for Jazz Fest and visiting friends. Clean, spacious, big kitchen and an awesome porch swing were highlights. No issues with hot water that someone mentioned earlier, everything worked fine. If you're staying in Uptown New Orleans then the location is pretty ideal, go for it.
