The Luana Kai is spread spaciously on the beach between S. Kihei Road and the Pacific Ocean. This four building oceanfront complex is beautifully landscaped with flowering trees, local tropical plants and lush gardens.
The pool and hot tub are surrounded by 5 gas barbecues allowing you to dine while enjoying the spectacular sunsets and quiet tropical breezes. During whale season, December through April, Humpback Whales are often seen breaching in the ocean waters along the Waipuilani Beach Park at the Luana Kai.
Our garden front unit is a deluxe one bedroom condo with ocean views located on the second floor. Included with the unit is a full kitchen, full size washer & dryer, one bedroom with queen size bed and an additional queen sleeper sofa in the living room allowing for sleeping accommodations for 2 to 4.
The Luana Kai Amenities include: Heated pool and hot tub, facing the Pacific Ocean with a full kitchen and 5 gas barbecue's and tables. There is also a Sauna, Tennis courts, Putting Green, and Shuffleboard.

Booking price does not include the following fees and they are paid directly to owner, 13.42% Hawaii State Tax.

High Season $145 per night Dec 18 through Apr 15 with no cleaning fee for 6 nights or longer. For stays of 5 nights or lass there is a $100 cleaning fee.
Christmas Week $155 per night Dec 22 through Dec 31, with a minimum stay of 7 nights.
Low Season $115 per night Apr 16 through Dec 15 with no cleaning fee for 5 nights or longer. For stays of 4 nights or less there is a $100 cleaning fee.
We would suggest you look into purchasing travel insurance should you need to cancel your trip for any reason.

LUANA KAI HOUSE RULES (condensed version)
The following rules have been adopted to provide the maximum enjoyment for those owning, living or visiting the Luana Kai. The intent and purpose of these House Rules is to protect all residents and their guests from annoyance and inconvenience caused by improper use of the premises.
The Luana Kai is a Non Smoking Project being such smoking is not permitted in any apartments, lanais, pool or parking area, or anywhere on the grounds.
All noise from any source shall be controlled so as not to disturb or annoy others at all times. QUIET HOURS 10:00 P.M. until 8:00 A.M. EXTREME QUIET when using all walkways, stairs and lanais.
Pool/Hot Tub hours are 8:00A.M. until 10:00 P.M. All POOL RULES must be observed. Pool gates must be kept closed and locked. NO GLASS items of any kind are permitted inside the pooll BBQ area.
Bicycles, skateboards, scooters, skates of any type or similar equipment, are NOT permitted on walkways, sidewalks, or parking areas.
Hanging of towels, clothes, laundry, rugs or other objects from lanai railings, clotheslines, racks, or hooks is prohibited. No sports equipment, boxes or other belongings are to be stored on lanais.
Sweeping, shaking, or throwing anything from lanais is prohibited.
BBQ's are located in the fenced pool area for your use. NO cooking is permitted on lanais.
NO ANIMALS of any kind whatsoever shall be allowed or kept in any part of the project. DO NOT FEED the birds or any stray animals.
Construction hours 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. (Not allowed on Sundays or holidays, see complete House Rules & contact Res. Manager)
Beach users shall shower to remove sand from their bodies and sports equipment before entering walkways and stairwells. Use carwash area near A-Building for rinsing sports equipment and rinse area near D-building and pool for removing sand from feet.
Pool area use is for registered owners and registered guests. Permission must be obtained when hosting non-registered guests or large groups. (Submit request to Res. Manager) The Resident Manager, employees and/or security personnel are authorized to require any person using the facilities to identify self by name and apartment number or host occupant.
Furnishings and equipment in the common areas shall NOT be removed or relocated.
NO CHIPPING in the garden area or on the putting green. An adult must accompany children under 12 when using the putting green . No climbing trees or running on walkways is permitted.
There shall be NO shooting of FIREWORKS of any type at any time, in, from, or around the buildings, or common areas of Luana Kai Resort.
All occupants, including owners, must register at the office within l2 hours of arrival and obtain parking permits. Any vehicle not displaying appropriate permit may be towed at owner's expense. Park as to utilize one space only.
Donald was very easy to reach by email and very friendly. He sent a great pdf with all of the information for staying at the property about a week prior to our stay.
We loved our stay! Everything was clean and well maintained (though towels were a bit musty). We had everything we needed to do a little light cooking, and it was great to be able to wash our beach stuff before leaving for home. We also appreciated that there was a beach umbrella we could borrow. The pool, hot tub, and grill area were especially awesome after a long day of sightseeing and beaching :-)

Ubicación perfecta de la casa para hacer excursiones por toda la isla. No usamos la piscina pero estaba al lado.
Teníamos sabana, toallas, material para la playa y todas las comodidades. Lavadora y secadora y la cocina con todos los electrodomésticos.

It was very nice . Very affordable. Donald kept in touch constantly. The pool area is great. Short walking distance to beach. Fantastic sunsets. Always parking available. We had no problem hooking up to wi fi. The kitchen had everything you could need. The location is close to everything in Kihei. Coconuts is the best "hole in the wall" fish taco place around. Only a few blocks down! Aloha!
The condo at Luana Kai was perfect for what we needed-- a place to crash at night. Location was great for day adventures and was convenient to highways for traveling to other parts of the island. We typically were gone for the entire day so we didn't use the condo for much other than sleeping. However, the TV wasn't working and internet was hit or miss. So watching a movie to wind down at the end of a long day was only possible because we brought our laptop. Also, there was a very loud rooster that woke the neighborhood up every day at about 3am. Those lucky enough with A/C in the unit probably didn't have as big of a problem with this as they slept with windows closed. The pool and BBQ area was nice with a recent renovation being apparent.
All in all you probably couldn't find a more affordable place in this location in Maui, but you get what you pay for. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.
Very well appointed condo--there was even mayo in the fridge. Located in a very convenient area--close to stores and to various sightseeing points. The wi fi did not work for either of us (if that is important to you). Not the most attractive place I've stayed in Hawaii (too much dark brown), but definitely clean and functional. Very gracious host by email.
Donald was excellent to deal with as a host. He was very friendly and available for any questions.
The condo is very well equipped in a lovely resort. All the amenities you can need for a comfortable stay. We would rent this condo again!
We never met Donald and Anne but we communicated by email prior to the trip, so they provided us with the necessary details beforehand. They were quite responsive in any case. The place is nice. Nice location, nice and scenic resort. I also like the pool and the hot tub in the resort. We had a great stay overall. The only downside was that the bedroom does not have a good fan (it is too strong) so we had to turn it off and it would be hot sometimes (in principle I dislike airco). The temperature in the rest of the apartment was fine. Also when we arrived the place was not cleaned yet due to the late departure of previous guests but this was taken care of immediately.

About the Host, Donald
Anne & I are both retired. I spent 36 years in the New York City Fire Department and retired as a captain in 2004. Anne spent 18 years working for Pan Am Airlines and stopped working for them after we had our second daughter.
While working for the airlines we did a lot of traveling and our favorite place was Hawaii, Maui in particular, so in 1989 we decided to purchase a condo at the Luana Kai in Kihei.
