Our well equipped cottage has vines over the terrace and fresh herbs to pick There's a small pool and plenty of space to relax. Our olive farm is close to Mediterranean, mountains and Ebre delta. Well placed to visit both Barcelona and Valencia.

The Space

We are about 10 minutes from the Mediterranean coast. Our old stone built cottage has been completely renovated and refurbished. We can accommodate two comfortably and up to four people.
The cottage has a mezzanine bedroom with ladder-like stairs and wrought iron bannisters double bed. It has views over the farm and over to the Mediterranean. There's a sweet little kitchen with a gas hob and microwave, lovely local artisan dishes, glasses and tumblers and a large selection of pots and pans along traditional Spanish paella dish and tapas dishes. We provide complimentary olive oil from our farm and you can buy free range eggs and home made jam You will eat your meals inside or out under a canopy of vines.
Under the mezzanine is the sofa-bed to accommodate two more guests. There is also a cot available should you need one. There's log burner for winter nights which keeps the cottage cosy. There is a lovely large bathroom with oodles of towels. Outside the casita we have converted the old "balsa" into a swimming pool for you to cool off in.

Guest Access

There are seven acres for you to wander round, A small pool to cool off in, furnished terraces around the cottage, barbecue, and a picnic cool-box to use. The pool is shared.

Interaction with Guests

We live on the farm and can help with as much or as little as you want, be it directions to the best beach or borrowing extra plates for a party!

The Neighborhood

We are situated on the east coast of Spain about half way between Barcelona and Valencia. The cottage is on a working olive and almond farm where there are about seven and a half acres to explore with hammocks strategically placed on the terraces. Peace and quiet surrounds you as does the Mediterranean, mountains and the River Ebre delta.
The coastal towns and villages are very Spanish. L'Ampolla with fishing port and marina is 15 minutes away with a huge selection of restaurants and bars with something to suit all tastes and pockets. The smaller villages are charming and bigger ones have lots to see. All have great indoor markets with a huge selection of fresh fish, meat and vegetables.
We are close to Tarragona and Tortosa: Valencia and Barcelona a train ride away. There is fishing on the sea and in the river, cycle hire available for the easy delta or the more challenging mountains. Masses of birds to discover for enthusiasts. This part of Catalonia is steeped in Roman history and the people have a strong regional identity. It is a lovely place to visit for a stopover or for a longer break and really get to know the place.

Getting around

The closest airport is Reus at 45-50 mins, Barcelona is next at just under 2 hours. There are good rail and bus links to local villages but to get to the farm itself you really need a car. There is plenty of parking at the farm. We have bikes to hire here at the farm and there are great walks up into the hills.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed the casita and the welcome from Amanda and Simon. It was interesting to see what they are doing on their farm and to meet the many residents, especially the 4-legged ones.

The casita was clean, comfortable and warm, and just simply charming and enjoyable to spend time in. The roads around it are quiet and perfect for walking into the nearby hills. Ampolla and Tortosa are worth visiting as is all of the surrounding countryside. We've visited many places in Spain over the years and can say that Amanda and Simon chose one of the prettiest to make their home.

We'd certainly return and would recommend a stay at Manna House to everybody.

Amanda and Simon's casita is very private, charming, comfortable, and well equipped. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found it to be a great base for exploring the surrounding countryside. The wood stove had already warmed the casita up so it was quite cozy when we arrived. In fact, Simon prepared the stove every evening for us so all we had to do was drop in a match after returning to the casita after a day of sightseeing. We enjoyed homemade treats, Amanda's jam and Simon's olives, and they had lots of maps and tourist pamphlets with information on the area. The casita was a little challenging to locate, so I would recommend arriving before dark and keeping a cell phone handy in order to call Amanda and Simon in case you have difficulty finding it. We would definitely stay at Manna house again, and it would be a great spot for a family reunion as they have lots of space other than the casita. Thank you Amanda and Simon! Karen and Joe

  • The Manna House was fantastic. Amanda and Simon were wonderful hosts. We were short distances from many sites and the beaches. After a week in Barcelona the Manna House was a great retreat. We learned about olive trees-harvesting the olives, etc. The renovations to the buildings on the property were remarkable. We strongly recommend this as a vacation site.

  • Manna House was just as it is described on the website, beautiful and very peaceful. The Casita is well equipped with a lovely outdoor seating area for meals and relaxing. Amanda and Simon were wonderful and welcoming with lots of good advice on what to do in the area. They cooked us a delicious meal on our final night and were great company too.

  • For our eight-week European Grand Tour we booked eight AIRBNB accommodations: London, Paris, Zurich, Venice, Florence, Tortosa (Manna House), Bilbao and London again (plus hotels and B&Bs for a total of nineteen different places in seven countries). About halfway through the adventure we were seriously ready for a real rest – we couldn't have picked a better home than Manna House for those five delicious days: It is removed without being remote, modest but not without all the comforts, and quiet but never dull. Amanda and Simon, olive farmers extraordinaire, are friendly, helpful, respectful, interesting and fun. We fell in love with the area, the house, its delightful owners and their endearing assortment of non-human residents. We highly recommend Manna House and its many pleasures!

  • Our stay with Amanda, Simon, the dogs and chickens was a perfect respite from our month of frenzied sightseeing in Europe. The casita itself couldn't be more charming - it had every thing we could possibly want and we made good use of it all, including the swimming pool. Amanda and Simon made us feel most welcome and comfortable, taking time to show our eight year old son the kittens and to talk with him about futbol. The farm is just a short easy drive from beautiful beaches where we spent days playing. When we make it back to Spain, we will most definitely be visiting the farm again! I couldn't recommend it more enthusiastically!

  • The stay at Peace and Olives was a fantastic getaway from the city. Lots of fresh air and lovely smell of orange trees. Dogs were friendly and the fireplace was cozy. The jams and oils that Amanda makes are a must try! Isabel and Grady

  • Our 1 week stay at Manna House has been very very memorable. Both Amanda and Simon are extremely friendly and helpful , not to forget the love and welcome we got from Boot, Bobby and Jack (their 3 very loving dogs). The cottage is comfortably equipped and the wood burners kept us warm and cozy during the chilly winter evenings. Our 9 year old had an awesome time , so did we:). Thank you Amanda and Simon for everything:)
