Kevin was such a welcoming host! No complaints whatsoever, the apartment was gorgeous and we didn't want to leave lol! Will be booking to come back next year!
Kevin kept in touch from the time of booking, and arranged to meet us on time and show us round the flat, explaining keys, parking, kitchen equipment etc. Very helpful and quick response to emails, texts and phone calls when we had a couple of questions. Very quiet area, useful Costcutter about 200 yards away, well stocked and open from early till late. Fantastic sitting on the balcony looking at the views over the dock, swimmers and boaters at times. Useful stock of groceries in flat to get started. Remember it is a double room and a single, fourth person sleeps on the settee- which is very comfortable and not a problem. Excellent public transport close by, and of course a private parking place and extra street parking not a problem. Highly recommended and hope to stay again next year. We found the lifts on the bridge to the Excel were not working, good exercise up and down the stairs, or a pleasant 20 minute walk round the dock - plenty of eating places and a Tesco metro and a Nisa, also the cable car terminal, on opposite side.
Kevin was helpful while booking, met us on arrival, and showed us around the apartment. We selected the apartment as it was close to ExCel and listed as 'sleeps 4'. In our initial enquiry, we had indicated we were looking for accommodation for 2 couples. However, there are beds for three people, despite the "sleeps 4" descriptions given in the listing.
When being shown around the apartment, we noted there were only beds for 3 people and thought we must have misread the listing. After checking the listing and our enquiry email, we contacted Kevin to raise our concerns about sleeping arrangements for a 4th person and found a complete lack of concern or support. We were told someone could sleep on the floor or sofa in the living area. The sofa is too short to lie on in the direction that has a single cushion, and in the other direction is narrower and has separate cushions with gaps in between. Might be ok for a child/teenager. One of our party slept on the floor wedged between the single bed and cupboard in the second bedroom, which also has a large desk/home office setup. Kevin messaged that he was "...sorry you made a mistake when booking...", as we had assumed that "2 beds, sleeps 4" meant there were beds for 4 people. One of the photos may have been of a fold-out/sofa bed/trundle bed arrangement to fulfil the description in the listing, but is not - it is of single bed.
Unfortunately, as soon as there was an issue, the owner's "care factor" disappeared. We have stayed in apartments in Scotland, England, Netherlands, France, Italy, Indonesia and Australia, have always had really good experiences before, and found owners very helpful and supportive - not that we've found a listing we thought to be misleading or had any other issues in the past.
Otherwise, the apartment is fine for up to three people. Being on the flight path to LCY and about 1000 m from the end of the runway, there is aircraft noise particularly during peak hours in the early morning (~06:15 am onwards) and evening, as aircraft are low as they pass. It is a convenient location for ExCel, and not far to walk to the DLR for transport into London etc. Onsite parking was appreciated.
Excellent apartment, just as promised and a fantastic location for London Excel. A touch of class.
Booking was seamless and Kevin couldn't have been more helpful throughout.
Will definitely book again.
Kevin met us with a warm welcoming face, really helpful showing us around the apartment and letting us know where best to visit around the apartment. Perfect location.
Kevin provided directions and was accommodating in relation to meeting us when we arrived. The apartment was everything we could have hope for and more! Stunning views of the Thames, day, evening and night! The kitchen was well equipped and had all the necessary condiments required which we were free to use. The apartment was spotlessly clean. We felt very safe in the area and the apartment is very close to the Dockland Light Rail service which links to the Underground system so it was easy to get to any where we wanted to go, it could not have been handier for the ExCel Conference Centre which we were attending, which was accessed by a foot bridge right beside the apartment. The lift to the bridge was out of order but repairs are underway, the stairs were good exercise each day! We really enjoyed out stay in Kevin's apartment!
