Country life 10 minutes from Macroom and Coachford; 40 minutes to Cork city. The house that I am living in is on a farm. 2 rooms are to rent. Staying here, you can see various animals, enjoy the old Victorian garden, wood walks, a lake and much more.
We live on beautiful Leades Farm. The house that I am renting is a semi-detached house which is located on the farm yard. Stepping out the door, chances are high that you will walk around the chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese, and dogs.
Our house is very childfriendly and on the farm are many interesting things to explore for young children. There are many animals, but also a wooden tower and a "pirate ship wreck"! On the back of my house I have a small sand pit for the kids to play in.
Adults looking for a quite and relaxed atmosphere usually find peace too, for example in the old Victorian garden.
The guest room is upstairs. If you are more than two guests, I have a single bed available in my study room also upstairs. An additional single bed (a foldable bed with mattress) can be put into the study room too. This is a pretty soft bed.
I usually try to prepare breakfast for the guests. But there are occasions when I may not be able to make you breakfast. That may be when I am working in the morning, or I have an appointment, or else my child needs attention. Then I will show you where all the things are and you can make your own breakfast. I usually have cereals with yogurt and fruit. Bread, toast, jam and cheese are also available. The food that I buy is mostly organic food. Also to mention is that I have a big variety of teas here. You are more than welcome to enjoy our teas.
We love animals. In the house, I do have a cat and a dog. If you bring your dog, that is generally fine. Please feel free to ask me about pets.
Our place is simple and very homely. It also is fairly clean. But as I have a young child and we are living on a farm, please do not expect the place to be sterile.
Please feel free to ask my anything.
You can rent the private room. There are two bathrooms in the house. One is upstairs beside your room. It has a shower and a toilet. Downstairs is also a bathroom with a toilet only. You will be sharing the bathrooms with us.
Downstairs is also the kitchen and living room area. It is one space. You are free to use anything there too.
I have internet here and also Wifi!
Interaction with Guests
I am often at home as I am caring for my young child and working in the garden. You are welcome to interact with us. I also might be free to show you around our farm, the garden and the woods if you wish.
We live in a semi-detached house. All our neighbours are nice and friendly. There are several houses on the farm being rented permanently. Also, my landlord works with international volunteers that live on the farm in Leades House.
There are public transport busses to Macroom and Coachford. From there, I may be able to pick you up, if you come by public transport. But that needs to be arranged before the booking, please.
Other Things to Note
Lately, I had a few guests that complained about difficulties finding our place. So I want to mention that the Airbbnb map does not let me pin point the exact position on where we live. Therefore, after a booking I send people information on how to find us. There is a (website hidden) maps link and I am also sending the GPS coordinates. That usually works fine. A sat nav is pretty handy and you can find us by the GPS coordinates (which I am sending you).
If you have big problems finding us, I also may be able to meet you in Macroom or in Coachford and you can follow me out with your car.
They are very nice and welcoming girls, the younger is the real house owner, be aware to her toys!!!
Thank you Grit!
Grit was very nice to welcome us so late, as she was putting her son to bed. We had a wonderful night sleep and a simple, but filling breakfast. It was very nice to chat with her in the morning. Her dog and cat were very friendly.
We had such a wonderful stay at Grit's place! She, her son, and the animals made us feel so at home and welcomed. The place was very quiet and helped us to unwind a little during our travels. Grit provided us with a wonderful breakfast - she even accommodated my vegan diet - and some traveling tips for the rest of our journey.
We would surely love to visit again.
Very much enjoyed the stay. Warm and comfortable bed. grit and her son are lovely. Safe place and amazing garden!
Grit was a very welcoming host, the farm was absolutely charming and a great place to get away from it all. Beautiful walks and wonderful peace and quiet. A really great place to get away from the city.
We booked very last minute and were late arriving however Grit kindly stayed up for us and offered drinks on arrival. The rooms were comfortable and bathroom large with a fantastic shower. Well water is amazing for your hair!!
The breakfast provided was lovely and we taken on a magical tour of gardens which are so beautiful.
Would love to go back and stay for longer. Getting there was a little challenging as it was dark when we arrived, but if you have satnav you'll be fine. N.B. mobile phone satnav won't work due to lack of signal in the hill.
