  • My family and I really had a great time at Ocak Guesthouse. Ethem and his wife Muso are such fantastic hosts. They are very warm and welcoming. The couple really made us feel comfortable and at home.

Muso cooked really yummy and authentic Turkish food. We had breakfast and dinner for the three nights we were there. We will definitely miss her cooking.

We rented a car while we were staying with them and Ethem drove us around for two days. He is very honest and patient.

We would recommend Ocak Guesthouse for families looking for authentic Turkish experience. The guest house is rustic and the family practises traditional living. They recycle and use natural resources. For example firewood for cooking, keeping warm as well as to heat water. I even helped them to collect firewood nearby which added colour to my stay with them. My wife and kids also helped Muso prepare dinner once and they really had a great time in her kitchen.

Another added advantage staying there is every morning, just outside their door we could see hundreds of hot air balloons going up. It's such a mesmerizing sight.

There is no doubt we will come back and say with them if we have an opportunity to travel to Goreme again.

  • Goreme is a fabulous place to visit and if you have the chance to stop at this address please do. You will discover very great people that will welcome you as if you are family, they will help you out with your planning and suggest places to see. I was lucky enough that they accompanied me on a walk of one of the valley. Ethem and Muso welcomed me with tea even if it was late ( the flight was delayed then cancelled and the second flight was delayed again), but the room was ready and warm. Don't miss the breakfast and suppers, Muso is a great cook and it is such a nice ambiance when you can share with the family. I really enjoy my experience and if I come back to Turkey I will definitely go back to OCAK guesthouse and share more great moments. It was hard to leave that last morning. Tesekkurler for the great time.

  • I really enjoyed staying at Ethem's house. They were lovely and helpfull with me.
Picked me up from bus station, helped with booking for the ballon flight (which as unforgatable) and even offered a delicious breakfast and dinner.
I had a very relaxing time and love their dog.
Thanks very much to all family, specially for Müşo!

  • This is the best accommodation I've ever been in.

The room is very clean and comfortable, all the house is nicely furnished and restructured and you are sleeping between fairy chimneys in a town that is part of UNESCO World Heritage.

If that wasn't enough, you'll have the pleasure to meet Ethem and his family: their hospitality has been supreme and they sincerely allowed me to join the family for few days.

Ethem is very expert about the area and will be a precious help while organizing your trips; if you'll have will to listen to him, you will also find a very open-minded, wise and sincere friend to talk with and exchange points of view.

His wife is a great cook and is also running the restaurant just under your bedroom: she will prepare you an excellent breakfast everyday and, when coming back tired after a long day hiking, you'll always find delicious soups and dishes slowly cooked in tandour to refresh yourself.

My 4 days at Ocak guest-house have been the best and most interesting part of my trip: my only regret is I couldn't stay longer.

  • Staying with Ethem and his family was a wonderful experience. A homey feeling welcomes you as soon as you arrive. They made sure I was comfortable and warm. Food was great and fresh! Ethem and Mishu are great cooks. After dinner it felt good chilling out with the family over tea and peanuts. The room where I stayed in was big and well-kept. I had a good view of the hills from my window. The house is just walking distance to the main points in Goreme such as the bus station and open air museum. I highly recommend Ocak Guesthouse!

  • Ethem and his family were most welcoming to me during my stay with them. With an ideal location and Ethem's rapid renovations this is going to be a great hotel soon! Terrific food & ahomestyle atmosphere make this a very good value stay, I hope to return someday.

  • Our 5 night stay at the Ocak Guesthouse was the closest experience for us of staying with a Turkish family. Ethem and Meshir made us feel like special guests. We arrived and mentioned we needed bus tickets to Antalya and Ethem through much effort, as there was a holiday, not only found them but he drove me down to the bus depot to get them. The breakfasts were amazing and varied. We had our choice to eat breakfast in our room, on the terrace, or with the family. Our room was large and bright. The entire Guesthouse is incredibly clean.

Overall our stay at the Ocak Guesthouse is a highlight of our trip and made our visit to Goreme worthwhile.

  • Ethem's family made our stay in Kapadokya such an amazing experience ! The house, bathroom, bedroom, each of family members is beyond our expectation. Bathroom is 5 star. Ethem is very helpful. Ethem's wife is so caring. She teach us how to cook Turkish way. She even made us food similar to our hometown for us to bring together to other city. Ethem's daughters are beautiful and smart. They can speak English very well and give us no communication problem at all. Ethem's could guide you on what activity you can do in Kapadokya. This is Kapadokya host we will definitely recommend to you.

  • This was an excellent place for four people to stay, the space was giant and Ethem and his family were very friendly. The family restaurant upstairs was delicious and breakfast in the morning was comprised of home made yogurt, cheese, preserves, pepper sauce eggs and fresh fruit! All in all an excellent place to stay.
