Whispering Pines is a secluded waterfront cabin on 300 private acres near Jacksonville, Texas. From the county road, you’ll drive about half a mile through our working tree farm before reaching the cabin and pond. Once you’re here, there are no neighbors in sight, no shared spaces, and very little reason to leave.
The cabin has been recently updated, including a large walk-in rainfall shower and a private outdoor shower with hot and cold water. Inside, it’s comfortable and well stocked; outside, you have a 7.6-acre pond, miles of trails, a hot tub, firepit, outdoor kitchen, boats, fishing gear, and plenty of room to explore.
Whispering Pines works especially well for families, couples, and friends who want some real time away together. Cooler months are some of our favorite times here: hike or fish during the day, explore the property by Ranger, then come back to the hot tub, firepit, and a quiet cabin overlooking the pond.
For golfers, we’re also within easy driving distance of Cherokee Ranch, Wild Spring Dunes, Peach Tree, and Pine Dunes. Play during the day, then come back to 300 private acres instead of a hotel room.

🌳 THE OUTDOORS
Most guests spend more time outside than they expect to. You have 300 acres to yourselves, a 7.6-acre pond near the cabin, miles of trails through the tree farm, and very little light or noise from anywhere else.
The Pond
The private pond is stocked with bass and bluegill, and the fishing is genuinely good. Guests regularly catch fish right from the dock, including kids who have never fished before.
Fishing rods and tackle are provided, along with kayaks, a canoe, pedal boat, flat-bottom boat, and life jackets. Fish from the dock, paddle around the pond, or take your coffee down to the water and watch the morning get started.
For anglers interested in the details, the pond has been professionally surveyed by electrofishing, confirming a healthy, established bass population. We also added more bass in summer 2026 to help maintain the fishery.
Trails & Property
Miles of private trails wind through the pine forest and tree farm. Cooler weather is especially good for hiking, wildlife watching, or just wandering around without a destination.
White-tailed deer are common, along with great blue herons and plenty of other East Texas wildlife. We provide a trail map and binoculars.
And when we say secluded, we mean it: the cabin is about half a mile from the nearest public road. You won’t hear traffic or see neighboring houses from the cabin.
Hot Tub
The 6-person hot tub sits outside with an open view of the property and sky. Cool evenings are when it really earns its keep.
The water is cleaned, balanced, and refreshed before each arrival and sanitized with bromine.
🔭 STARGAZING AT WHISPERING PINES
Being this far from town also means it gets properly dark.
We provide a Celestron app-enabled telescope, astronomy binoculars with a tripod, red-light gear, and beginner-friendly field guides. You don’t need to know anything about astronomy to use them.
Take everything outside after dark and see what’s up. Sometimes that means showing the kids the Moon through a telescope for the first time. Sometimes it means sitting in the hot tub and realizing how many stars you normally can’t see from home.

There really isn’t a schedule here, which is part of the point.
Make coffee and take it outside in the morning. Fish for a while. Walk one of the trails after lunch or take the Ranger out and see more of the property. Some guests spend half the day at the pond; others barely do anything at all.
Once it gets dark, bring out the telescope and astronomy binoculars. If it’s cool, start a fire and make the s’mores we leave for you. Stay there awhile.
Then finish the night in the hot tub under the stars.
Families often tell us their kids spent far less time on screens than they expected. Couples tell us they barely left the property. That’s pretty much what we hoped would happen when we opened the place to guests.

To help maintain the pond's healthy ecosystem, guests may keep up to five bass per stay. No limit on bluegill.

We just ask that guests ride respectfully — no tearing up the land or disturbing the natural areas — and all riders must sign a liability waiver before heading out.
