Are you looking for a rare and unique adventure? Do you want to have a rustic and real-life western experience? Transport yourself back to the old west to a more basic and simple time and lifestyle. We welcome you to a stay in an original sheep wagon. The sheep wagon was the living quarters for the old west sheep herder (ancient shepherd). The sheep herder watched over the flock of sheep during the day and retired to the sheep wagon at night.

The space
This original sheep wagon was used on our family ranch from the Nineteen twenties until the early nineteen seventies as a working sheepherders camp. In the Spring of two thousand thirteen we completed the full restoration of this sheep wagon. This sheep wagon has a full size bed inside that will accommodate two people, and an add in bed that accommodates two more people, two built-in cold boxes for storing and keeping your food cold, a pull out table that can seat four around it, and a fully restored and operational wood burning cook stove/oven. It is supplied with pots, pans, coffee pot and a variety of other cookware and utensils that can be used on the wood burning stove. It also is outfitted with plates, bowls, cups, and silverware for four, and with a wash basin for doing dishes. The Wagon is also set up so you can plug your own generator into it to have lights and power inside the wagon if desired.
Our family ranch operates on a 65,000 acre spread of ground that your are welcome to enjoy and explore responsibly and at your own risk. There are a variety of recreational activities and points of interest on the ranch. Some attractions include: lake fishing, stream fishing, hunting, Indian artifacts, a petrified forest, hiking, mountain biking, great rock hunting, riding ATV's (responsibly and on roads that have already been established please), a rich mining history, beautiful spring wildflowers, exploring original homestead cabins and buildings, amazing star gazing, a large variety of wildlife and animals including our own livestock, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, or simply enjoying the quite solitude, and many other things as well. Weather and conditions become so severe in our area that the wagon will be made unavailable during certain months. We typically will host guests from late spring through the early fall (typically the latter part of May - early October)
Our family ranch was homesteaded or established in nineteen nine (1909) and it has remained in our family and a fully operational ranch since then. We wish to share this rich history, industry and area that we love by inviting you to experience it with a stay in our historical sheep wagon.
We would also like to offer you a few unique amenities with your stay on our ranch and in our sheep wagon.
Our sheep wagon has been a rare and unique birthday experience for many. We can add a birthday welcome package inside the wagon that will include balloons, and other birthday decorations for an additional $40. (See pictures in the picture gallery). If you are interested in this offer you can request it during your booking and the price will be added through a special pricing offer. After the booking is completed we will make a booking alteration request that Will reflect this added cost. This request will be sent to you by Airbnb with the options to accept or reject this price alteration. Upon your acceptance we will then add this amenity to the sheep wagon.
There is an old west romance with staying in the sheep wagon. We also offer a romantic package great for anniversaries, honeymoons or any special getaway that includes rose pedals, a candle, and a sparkling drink with stemmed glassware. This can add romance to your experience in the wagon for an additional $50. (See pictures of this in the picture gallery). If you are interested in this offer you can request it during your booking and the price will be added through a special pricing offer. After the booking is completed we will make a booking alteration request that Will reflect this added cost. This request will be sent to you by Airbnb with the options to accept or reject this price alteration. Upon your acceptance we will then add this amenity to the sheep wagon.
We would also love to offer a guided tour of the ranch which includes unique views of the ranch, countless photo opportunities, history of the family and ranch, stories, background, and history of the area. The guided tour will last on average two hours, based on guests interests and wishes it may be longer than two hours or shorter than two hours. Special interest requests that are suitable can be made and agreed upon and included in the tour. This tour will be an additional $100. If you are interested in this offer you can request it during your booking and the price will be added through a special pricing offer. Guests staying for one night only that are interested in reserving this offer must be willing to arrive at a specific and accurate time agreeable by both you and us in order to redeem this offer.

- a specific start time is to ensure there is enough daylight time to do the tour and still get you back to the sheep wagon with plenty of daylight time for you to settle in.

This sheep wagon has been on our ranch since the 1920s. It is still located on our family cattle and sheep ranch that has been owned and operated by our family since 1909. We love hosting and getting to know guests from all over the world by having them come to our ranch and enjoy the sights and scenery that we have to offer in our area. We love sharing this unique experience of staying in a sheep wagon with others.
