In October 2013, I stayed at Celynn's flat in Beirut, Karm az-Zaytoun for the second time for several weeks. I like the place for
1. the relatively quiet and airy surrounding, compared to most other places so central in Beirut
2. the aesthetic value of living in an old house (mid 20th century building I guess) in a hilly, Christian neighborhood with a view to the mountains and the see.
The facilities are appropriate for the price, i. e. simple and sometimes a bit tricky, but working. The bed is not for the princess on the pea, since the matress lies on a plank let into the bed frame.
Celynn is a committed landlord trying to take care as fast as possible of everything that's not in order. She also knows to recommend places in Beirut and Lebanon that are worth visiting.
Celynn was the ideal host--everything was in perfect order for my stay. The flat was clean, and is located in a quiet, calm location with everything you need still close by. Highly recommended.
Celine was great in having the room ready to go, showing me around the neighborhood, and it was really fantastic that she was at the apartment awaiting my arrival. Beirut was quite confusing in the beginning :).
She answered all questions promptly and was available at all times via text or email.
I would stay at Celine's place again in a heartbeat. She is a great host and really wants her guests to enjoy Beirut.
I had a great time in Beirut in general, and the apartment was a good haven to come back to every evening; Celine is a great host, who is welcoming and very reliable; the apartment is big and its balcony provides you with sun every morning (great to get a nice sun tan). Located close to Sassine, you generally can get everywhere easily and the street below provides some really good Manouchis as well-which is important since Manouchi is the very best breakfast in the world!:)- I would always recommend the apartment without any doubts, especially because a 3hours electricity cut is for Beyrouth the best you can get.....
The best part of the stay was the host. Celynn is a great host. She picked me up from Sassine square when I first arrived and organised my taxi when I was leaving making my stay very comfortable. She is very helpful and willing to give you lots of advice about things to do in Beirut. The apartment is large, clean and relatively comfortable. It's also in a very good location in Beirut. Near Sassine square, where there is a mall and lots of cafes.
Some aspects of my stay in this room were great: there's plenty of cross breeze, so it was never too hot; there's a lot of space; and the host was very friendly and helpful. I did find the floors to be a little too dirty. This is probably unavoidable since the windows are always open, but maybe a cleaner should come once a week to sweep. The location of the apartment was fine for me, but others might need to know that it is a little far from the main tourist areas of the city. Compared to other offerings in Beirut, the price can't be beat!
Celynn is polite and kind of host. She has made the necessary preparations and care for traveler. See you again!
Celynn's place in Beirut was nice indeed as well as her hospitality. The location is fine, a short Taxi ride from the most interesting parts of the city. But before entering a Taxi, ask a local to explain the system for you properly so you won't end up paying 10,000 LBP for each ride :)
What a great place to land! Celine is so helpful, and the neighborhood is handy for all kinds of basics. I nabbed a SIM card, got cash, stocked up on veggies, had a nice fresh falafel sandwich, and arranged a taxi, all within a block of the house. A couple of good bus lines run along the main street nearby. The room itself is indeed huge, as advertised--a little beat up but clean and welcoming. The whole apartment setup is nice too--plenty of room for socializing or not.
You'll definitely need an eye mask, as Celine advises, and earplugs--there's a construction site just across the way that starts at 7am. But with these things, I slept fantastically well.
Pleasant appartment with a charming view and a lovely host. Truly advise people flyin to Beirut to get there, the accomodation is located central with shops real close. Only 20min drive away from the Airport and 10min at the most to reach the city center. Will definitely consider going back at Celynns, thanks again for your help and overwhelming welcome.
