Enjoy your cozy, private bedroom and artist nook in a sun-filled home with garden, warm back deck and a friendly girl and dog. We know all the best spots in Victoria. Perfect for a solo traveller, couple or small family.
Beautiful 1940s character house on a quiet street 10 minute drive from the city centre, 12 minutes by bike on the Galloping Goose bike trail or 12 minutes by bus (2 blocks away).
Enjoy a cozy upstairs bedroom with double bed, down quilt, vintage furnishings, quiet, and west-facing light. The mattress is a comfortable futon. Share the rest of the house with a seasoned traveller and excellent host. Includes a south-facing kitchen and deck, fir floors throughout, warm and cozy living room, fenced back yard, beautiful rural, natural garden, parking and laundry all part of the deal. Full bathroom with shower and bathtub.
Vintage furnishings and a wood stove make for cozy, romantic nights. The sun filled back yard means you can have your morning coffee on the back deck, even in February!
Great, safe neighbourhood two blocks to neighbourhood movie theatre, four blocks to the beautiful Gorge Waterway. Public transit to downtown is 3 blocks away and takes 10 minutes to get to Victoria's city centre on the bus or driving. Rent bikes a couple of blocks away and peddle five minutes down the trail to the best bakeries in town in Vic West, 15 minutes to downtown, or simply stroll along the waterway into town (about an hour's walk). A direct 20 minute bus route will also take you to UVic.
Enjoy Victoria as it's meant to be lived.
Guests have access to the whole house, including kitchen for cooking, living room and full bath with amenities. Your room is upstairs and absolutely private, tucked away from the rest of the house. Laundry, parking, herbs from the garden, all are readily available. Staples for breakfast are available. Shampoo and such is also on hand in the bathroom.
Interaction with Guests
I interact as much or as little as guests would prefer. If you're on your own and like company, you might like to end up joining in--communal dinners aren't unusual on the back deck. If you're a couple who needs time and privacy, you'll find it here, too.
This neighbourhood is perfect for those who want to see swallows by day, hear owls by night and still be close enough to the city to bike there in under 15 mins. You are 10 minutes by car to both the downtown core and swimmable lakes, hiking trails and all the beauty the island has to offer. Don't fight traffic--stay in close proximity to both town and country!
There is public transit two blocks away that goes directly downtown or directly to the University of Victoria and Camosun College. A bike path at the end of the street will take you downtown in 12 minutes without ever having to pedal in traffic.
Other Things to Note
The reviews for this cottage are excellent for a reason--I love hosting and getting to know travellers. You'll feel at home, welcome and taken care of while you're here.
This room is perfect for a couple or solo traveler, or for a writer/artist looking for a great retreat. Pets must be well behaved. This is a room in a home, not a vacation rental, and respect and warmth toward the amenities found within is expected.
Guests or visitors other than those agreed upon during registration must be cleared by the host first.

I felt immediately at home! My only regret is that I didn't have more time to spend with my hosts.
Maleea was a friendly and welcoming host, and did everything she could to make my stay comfortable, including lending me her bicycle, which was much appreciated! The cottage had everything I could wish for. If you're looking for a place with a 'pristine brand new' feel, this isn't the place for you; it has a 'lived-in cottage' feel, and is carefully decorated, with lovely little details like dried rose petals in the bathroom. It was the perfect base for my weekend in Victoria. Thank you Maleea!
After arriving in Victoria and realizing I didn't have a place to stay, Emaleea was a wonderful, accommodating host and accepted my reservation for a same-day stay. The room was as pictured/described, very quiet, clean, and cheerful. The backyard was flower-filled and a lovely place to relax. I would gladly stay there again and recommend it for a solo traveller. I felt totally at home here. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Maleea was a wonderful and very welcoming host. Her place has lots of character both inside and out and makes for a lovely base to explore Victoria from. There's not that much interesting within walking distsance, but the Galloping Goose trail is nearby which takes you into downtown or away from it. Expect to drive or bike into the downtown, both of which take 10 to 15 minutes.
Maleea suggested lots of great restaurants and things to do and made sure I had a great time in Victoria. Thanks for everything!
It was such a pleasure meeting Maleea and staying in her gorgeous cosy home. I was made to feel very welcome at all times and Maleea was such a kind and generous hostess, I felt blessed to have made a new friend and to have experienced the fantasic city and surrounding wilderness of Victoria with local insight. I look forward to visiting Maleea again in the future!
Maleea's lovely, cozy room for travellers was the perfect place to stay and I am so glad I met Maleea who is a wonderful person. I truly recommend this lovely and peaceful little paradise and I am sure I will come back one day in the near future.
