Staying at John's place was a great start to our Hawaii vacay! Great location, clean room/washroom and friendly and helpful host. He suggested a great sunrise trail not to far from his place and it was beautiful! He also let us borrow his snorkeling equipment which helped us save on rentals. John's place is highly recommended!
Staying at John's place was like a home away from home! The spacious kitchen allowed me and my son to prepare meals and lunch for our daily outings. John even let us borrow an ice-chest to keep our food cold. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need.
Since my Nick will be relocating to Hawaii John was an excellent resource about the local area, island and employment opportunities. He spent a lot of time visiting with my son and for that I am very appreciative.
John's place is kept extremely clean... lot's of great tile which I am sure he installed himself since that's what he does for a living. The pool has an inlaid octopus at the bottom of the pool and I LOVED the ambiance of the back yard. I recommend John's place to anyone looking for a home away from home while visiting paradise. Close to grocery store, restaurants and the beach.
We really enjoyed eating our meals on our balcony just outside our room with the mountain views. I highly recommend John's place and would return in a heartbeat!
Great place. Had a great time
I was very impressed with John picking me up at the airport, on Christmas Day at that, when he could have easily left me to fend for myself at the airport. He had a tremendous wealth of knowledge about Kailua and did not hesitate to answer any question that I had about where to find things. His house is large, spotlessly clean thanks to the team effort of both him and his wife, and walking distance to all amenities--an important feature for me because I prefer not to rent cars. A nice way to begin my three month sabbatical:)
John's place was great. He is always up for a chat and very helpful. You can even rent boogieboard, surfboard, bicycles an kayaks for free, which is awesome! The only thing that could be a drawback is the fact that you cannot lock the shared bathroom from the inside because it's accessible from two rooms. But we had nice neighbors so that was no big issue.
My wife and I stayed at John's place for 2 nights.
We didn't spend much time in the room as we were busy trying to absorb as much of the Oahu experience as we could.
John was very friendly and gave us good tips on how to avoid traffic during rush hour. He's a super laid back guy who's very available.
Unfortunately we didn't get to see much of Kailua, but would definitely love to come back to check it out.
It was great to get to know Kailua and its environs.
John's house was in a good location to do that. My room was small with paper thin walls but comfortable with its own tv and air conditioner. The shared bath was quite large. So too, the common areas with lots of sofas and big screen tvs, all of which I was made to feel welcome to enjoy. I loved the big, clean, well stocked kitchen as well as the available washer/dryer. There is a beautiful and inviting pool. And bikes. ;-)
Great, convenient location in a sweet little town. John was a nice and mellow host, too ! He had helpful tips on where to go.
My stay with John was spectacular. He is a great host and gave us lots of tips where to eat or what to do. I love his house, its beautiful with a pool and those super comply couches everywhere. its impossible not to relax. He even let us use his kajak and snorkel stuff. There is absolutely no reason to book anywhere else if you have car, perfect location. Thank you soooooo much John^^.
Thoughtful and helpful, it was great to stay in John's place. The bedroom, house, aera, everything was perfect!
Clean, comfortable and good situation: we enjoyed it.
