About this listing
Welcome to our community of curious souls! If you're looking for somewhere to call home for any period of time, you found the right place. Come grill, chill, make, and hack with us, and when you leave, stay in touch!
We have a bunk available in a shared room, and we're looking forward to having wonderful creative people join our community!
Stonehenge is our wonderful community of people who make awesome things! Many of our residents are in their 20's and 30's, but we welcome people of all ages into our home. We are not all software engineers, but we share a common curiosity and sense of humor about this funny world, and many of us are highly startup-oriented.
Please spend some time with us, relaxing, drinking a beer, watching movies and playing video games, hacking on some chaos, or teaching us whatever interesting stuff you bring to the table.
Washer, dryer, laundry detergent, refrigerator, wifi, bicycle, sheets, pillows, extra blankets, full kitchen, bulk food (like rice), shampoo, conditioner, body wash, towels, and a community.
Interaction with Guests
Katy lives in the house. We spend a lot of time watching movies, making nonsense, or just staying up late talking. Some guests spent a lot of time with the community, but some pass through. We welcome everybody to find whatever level of interaction works for them.
There is a cute dive bar with karaoke every Thursday in stumble distance and two grocery stores (one fewer than 4 blocks away and expensive, one farther away and more affordable). A large park is at the end of the street where you can play football/soccer, and the local library is right at the end of the block.
We are located within easy biking distance of almost anything you could want: 1.7 miles to San Antonio Caltrain, 3 miles from Stanford, 2.3 miles from California Avenue Caltrain. The 35 bus departs from literally the end of the block and will take you directly to Stanford / the Palo Alto Train Station. We have bikes to loan to residents, but sometimes residents lend a hand keeping them in tip-top shape.
- Please be neat
- No guests in the house that aren't cleared with the residents
- Be excellent to one another
- Please don't take souvenirs from the house (like chopsticks). We don't monitor for it and it sucks when we run out of random stuff. If you want a souvenir, we can give you one.
Stonehenge is a great house in a great neighborhood. It is situated behind two houses along the street, giving it the feel of a cabin in the woods, even though it's right smack in a residential Palo Alto neighborhood. The neighborhood is so safe and residents come and go so often that the door was never locked. This was not a problem during my month at the house, and it has evidently never been so before.
Katy introduced herself as the "RA" and greeted me with "welcome home" when I arrived. She and her co-RA, Erin, have a color-coded system of cookware, bedsheets, etc., set up, so I immediately felt like I had a place in the house when I arrived. They and the other guests were all great folks to be around.
First time in the Bay Area and Stonehenge treated me very well! Awesome folks always coming and going through there. If you're looking for a great time to spend short or log term with awesome people, then Stonehenge is the place for you.
Definitely a memorable 4 months there :)
Excellent atmosphere, and very welcoming household. Short bike ride from downtown Palo Alto, and a short walk to the Caltrain station too.
Katy and Garret are excellent hosts and I ended up staying much longer than I intended. Highly recommend.
Katy and Garret are lovely and really have skills to host new and open mind people. I really appreciate the time when i was there! :)
Are you planning stay in this house? Don't be afraid, do it as soon as possible! I`m sure that it`ll be a great experience for you!!!
Katy and Garrett are special hosts. They support a creative environment and are always welcoming. If you're in the area for work and want to surround yourself with ambitious and dedicated folks, this is your place. I would definitely go back.
Thank you Katy for an awesome hacker House experience! Loved staying with you - thanks for all your super kindness and hope to see you again soon!
Fun house, very social, convenient, and affordable. Katy and Garrett are awesome!
Don't be expecting any privacy, though. You're definitely sharing a room with several bunk beads, and some people tend to snore. Bring ear plugs . . . .
