If you are looking for an authentic experience living as a local in Europe's most enchanting city, then look no further! Our beautiful home is in the heart of Barcelona's most desirable neighbourhood, El Born, and offers you all this and so much more. Having just been fully renovated in July 2013, this newly revived apartment is the perfect hideaway from which you can explore the delights of this incredible area and the rest of the city. From first time visitors, to those who know Barcelona intimately, there is simply no better place to stay!
The charismatic and charming El Born neighbourhood is magical. From the small winding streets to the large squares where people go for lunch or dinner, it is undoubtedly the best place to spend your holiday in Barcelona. Our apartment is situated on a particularly historical street, only a few metres from the phenomenal Santa Maria del Mar church, and a stone's throw from the Gothic neighbourhood. Within a 5-10 minute walk you have the beaches, the port, the stunning Ciutadella park and the city centre. You also have dozens of bus stops (including the tourist hop-on, hop-off bus), three metro stations and the international train station Franca within a 5 minute walk as well as the best shops, restaurants, bars and cafes in Barcelona just a few metres away.
Our apartment is a spacious (for this area!) 50m2, with a view on to one of the most sought-after streets in the neighbourhood; famous for its long history with wine merchants and artisans. The building itself is straight out of the medieval history books – with a tiny 50cm wide front door and narrow winding staircase. Thankfully the apartment is on the first floor so there aren't many stairs to deal with! The street is pedestrianised (except for limited access to delivery vans), so is peaceful throughout the day and night.
With 3.5 metre high ceilings, the living/dining room to the front of the apartment is light and airy. It has large French doors and a wide balcony complete with table and chairs; perfect for sipping on an evening sangria and watching the world go by. There is a sofa bed for additional guests who wish to stay (to be made up on request), meaning the apartment can potentially sleep up to four people. There is also a fast and secure wifi internet connection exclusively for guests' use.
There is a good sized kitchen which comes fully equipped with pots and pans, crockery and utensils, an electric oven, gas hobs, a brand new fridge/freezer and washing machine which you are welcome to use. We provide the basic essentials such as tea and coffee, olive oil, salt, pepper, etc, and even a nice bottle of Spanish Rioja on arrival (if you prefer white wine/cava/something soft, please tell me and I will provide!)
The centre of the apartment has a very unusual ‘outdoor' patio area, which we have decked out to become an interior garden. Somewhere to relax a while, read a book or just hang your washing! Within this area you will find the typically tiny Spanish bathroom – complete with shower, toilet and sink.
The bedroom is to the rear of the property and although it doesn't have any windows, we find this a huge advantage because you get such a peaceful night's sleep. There is an amazingly comfortable double bed with brand new mattress, lots of storage space and hanging space for clothes.
Both the living room and bedroom have separate remote controlled air conditioning units – perfect for the summer months when you need to escape from the hot sunshine outside!
As your host, I am here to look after you during your stay and make you feel at home. I will provide a list of personal recommendations and insights on where to go and what to do in the neighbourhood, as well as the latest city magazines so you can keep up to date with what's going on while you are here. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch! :)
Respect the neighbours - strictly no parties and quiet in the stairwells.
We prefer couples and families only. Groups please contact me booking making a reservation.
Smoking is permitted but we would appreciate it if this was kept to the balcony.
