Все было отлично, меня встретил человек на вокзале, помог дотащить вещи и все в квартире показал. Очень понравился одесский дворик. Когда в следующий раз буду в Одессе, постараюсь остановится в этой же квартире.
Was very happy with the loft, the entry from the street is typical of Ukraine so it's a little darker than western visitors will be accustomed to, and the building, having plenty of history does show a little age - BUT - I love those things about it and it's quite safe : )
The flat itself is almost perfectly situated in the city, if you're going for social reasons, it's ideal because it's a 5-10 minute walk from the best restaurants, opera house, and clubs. The neighborhood was calm and safe, I wander around at all hours and it was quite pleasant. The buildings in the area are often very beautiful - great if you enjoy architecture and cafes! The flat itself is accurately represented in the photos, charming and comfortable and gets really nice light during the day. Everything works, everything is clean, no complaints.
George the care-taker and Kateryna were very helpful whenever I was stuck - even helping me to recover my luggage which was lost when I arrived. Highly recommended listing. Thanks for a great stay!
Since the host is in New York, she had a friend serve as host. He met me at the train station and accompanied me to the apartment. Unfortunately, he had scheduled a taxi which I had to pay for even though I had communicated that I preferred walking; it was only 6 1/2 blocks!
The apartment looks just like the photos. It was delightful--bright, clean, well located, mostly quiet (occasionally the noise of a TV next door), well furnished, had strong and fast wi-fi, etc.. The kitchen had everything I needed to prepare breakfast for myself and an occasional dinner. I did re-wash everything I used in the kitchen before using it (two pots, a plate, 2-3 glasses, a mug, a set of flatware,--not much); there were watermarks and sometimes grease smudges still on them. I don't usually watch TV, but in scanning the channels, I did not find anything in English or for directions for switching languages as is possible in many cases in Europe. The water pressure was a little low, but not enough that I couldn't do what I needed to do.
Overall, it was a good experience for me and I would recommend that others choose the apartment for its style and its location.
We had a lovely time in Kateryna's flat in Odessa. There was no water for a day and she was nice enough to give us a free night for that. I'd recommend it to others visiting this lovely city.
Great location. Beautiful apartment.
Very nice and accommodating hosts! Highest recommend.
Odessa is an interesting city in many ways. First, let look at the what is not so good with this apartment. It is an old building over 130 years old without much update or up keeping. For example, the stair ways have cat poop and not much light at night time. One must know a little bit of history of Eastern Europe and the old soviet mentalities. civility is not the norm here. Couple it with the lack of money, the building is unkept. The internet was down twice while I was there but it came back on 1 hour later. There is not much water pressure in the building. This is the charm of Eastern Europe in general and welcome to Ukraine, in particular.
The good stuff:
Inside the apartment, it is new and modern as photos reveal. Great location as it is near all the good restaurants and main streets.
The biggest asset of this place is Georgii. He is the caretaker of this apartment. He took his time and show me the layout of the city with great knowledge.
We must have walk more than two hours the first time couple it with a good lunch and a few drinks, it is all good. Georgii introduced me to several underground places where local artists, musicians come and hangout with very inexpensive drinks. He was there when I have questions and even have taxi waiting for me early in the morning.
Ukrainians can learn a few things here from Georgii about the words: helpful, concierge, accommodation......
Would I stay here again? Yes, because of Georgii and not because of the building.

I was born in Odessa, Ukraine, but I live in New York. My friends in Odessa are taking care of my apartment ( they meet our guests and give the apartment keys). I own an adventure travel company and organize trips to various countries like Nepal, India, Central and South America.
