Welcome to paradise! Pondok Rama is super zen, luxurious and inspiring for creatives of all kinds! A new, private walled compound in the rice fields with modern two-story villa, infinity pool, large yoga deck, open-air livingroom and kitchen. Enjoy our massive garden with papayas and coconuts growing!
Your spacious bedroom is downstairs next to the infinity pool with lush garden views and a king bed. You have a mosquito net as well as air conditioning. Your super deep tub actually fills all the way to the top with hot water and you have a shower. Wifi is everywhere on our property and free. We have wonderful night-time security, house cleaning every other day and pool service 2x per week.
The open air yoga deck is upstairs and has stunning rice field views. We have fun pool floaties. Of course we have a filtered water dispenser. Local phone with SIM card provided for your use while here, along with yoga mat and meditation cushion. Hair dryer, clean linens, towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion and spa products also provided. Laundry service available.
There is beautiful, modern, recessed lighting throughout the space as well as tucked in the garden and pool ~ it lights up like a fantasy at night. Fresh flower blossoms fall every morning and they are beautiful to collect. We have sacred statuary and sacred geometry and other objects of beauty around. The space feels very clean and spiritually focused. The kitchen is stocked with all cooking utensils and with sleek black marble counters. The compound feels secure and there is often a wonderful breeze blowing over the rice fields and by the pool, even when it is hot and still elsewhere in Ubud.
You can expect incredible quiet and privacy. I live upstairs and when I am home I am often out of sight or quietly on my computer in the livingroom. I am a writer-yogini-life coach. I am peaceful, self-sufficient and focused on creative projects. I value my privacy and respect yours, so I generally interact only a few minutes each day.
We have breathwork every Tuesday which you are welcome to join us for in the livingroom~ we move the furniture outside for this one event to make space.
I am very connected in the local community and can direct you towards people, shops and events of interest~ especially anything related to dance, yoga, fashion or art.
I have fresh organic green juice and other healing elixirs delivered daily and you can easily add your order. Many holistic and natural cafes also deliver easily to our home.
I can arrange for you to have a taxi pickup from the airport from my very reliable and friendly driver, as well as arrange for a scooter or bicycle rental for you once you arrive.
We live on a narrow long path which is a 5 minute walk back from the main road. The path is really nice to walk! At the road is a DELICIOUS organic raw food restaurant called Alchemy, as well as spas, and other restaurants. I like to keep my scooter at the end of the path and walk it so I can enjoy the views, but you can ride it on your scooter or bike if you are confident.
Perfect for those coming on retreat or needing a quiet place to reflect. It feels super modern, secure, solid and dry. It is incredibly inspiring to relax here, reflect and be creative. An absolute GEM!
Other Things to Note
Note ~ Once I pre-approve you to stay please immediately book it by paying. I'm sorry but I cannot hold this rental for you. There are often multiple people pre-approved for overlapping dates simultaneously. Whomever books by paying for the unit first will be the one who receives it. Thanks for understanding!
I hope you are also private, self-sufficient and peaceful. We have cleaners to clean dishes and the house every other day, but hopefully you will pick up any piles left in communal spaces when you are done. By joining our house, you agree that you are open to the group breathwork in the living room that happens on Tuesday~ which is AMAZING~ we hope you join in. Whomever is last in the property at night locks the front door or if not coming home, text the housemate to let them know so they can lock the door. No loud parties. Please no smoking, children, pets or alcohol.
Two of us stayed at Yogi's Gem recently for one week - the villa is beautiful, very comfortable with everything we needed. Christabel organised transport from the Airport so finding the villa was no problem.
The Villa itself is about 7 minutes walk from the main rd, so you really feel like you are out of the hustle and bustle and surrounded by gorgeous rice fields and tranquil sounds - the walk into town was about 30-40 minutes.
There were two others staying at the Villa the same time we were so we didn't have as much privacy or 'pool time' as we thought we would, but the couple were lovely so we didn't mind hanging out with them. This also meant we unfortunately didn't get to meet Christabel personally. There is a gorgeous caretaker called Koming though who was happy to help us whenever we needed so we certainly didn't feel like we were left to our own devices!
Would absolutely stay here again!
Yogis gem was just perfect!! Christabel made me feel extremely welcomed and created a very comfortable space for an incredible holiday.
The photos were exactly what you get but in real life it is even more beautiful. A real garden of Eden!!
Location was great, alway from the hustle and bustle of Ubud down a small local path where you would always be greeted by smiles from the neighbours!!
Staff at the villa are also very friendly and caring.
I had phenomenal 3 weeks in the Villa of Christabel. I´m totally in love with the room, the house, the garden, the pool, the little path to the house, the green, the nature, the sky, the calm, the ricefields, the Alchemy (best raw breakfast in Ubud), the people how take care of the house (cleaning, garden etc.) and of course Christabel the best housemate I can imagine. If you want to live in paradise - book NOW!
The neighbourhood was wonderful. It was so lovely to walk through rice fields to get to the hustle and bustle of downtown Ubud.
Penestanen and Ubud are fabulous places to visit, I highly recommend it.
The Host was going through some difficult personal issues which would account for the delay in responding to my emails. But it did not account for the misinformation. It took me many emails to discover the name of the property, which I didn't get until the day before I left. Her vague instructions of "there is no address, just ask any of the scooter taxi's they will know where I am" - was most unhelpful. I did not even know where the scooter taxis were in that area. As I didn't know where the property was, I had no idea you could only get their by foot or scooter. Eventually the host gave me the number of the housekeeper who met me by the road to show me how to get to the property. Thankfully being well travelled I coped, I pity the person new to travel dealing with this very casual approach to information.
The room was cleaned/made up only about 5 times in 14 days.
Another guest at the villas told me of her frustration and difficulties in communicating with the host (unsolicited).
Because of these issues, my rating will be reduced from 4 stars to 2 stars.
I was so sorry that Monica had so much trouble with the property. The listing on Air B and B actually lists the name of my property in the second sentence, "Welcome to paradise! Pondok Rama is super zen, luxurious and inspiring for creatives of all kinds!" and towards the end of the listing also mentions that we live on a path (as opposed to a street with an address) "We live on a narrow long path which is a 5 minute walk back from the main road. The path is really nice to walk!" I have to take responsibility that my email responses were not as quick as they normally was as I was at my mother's bedside during her death and had to attend to all the arrangements and it was all very unexpected. My taxi driver usually brings all residents door to door from the airport directly to the villa and I think some of the confusion arose since Monica wanted to make her own arrangements and be met at a nearby resturant. Normally I could have zipped over there but being in another country, this was not possible. I offered Monica 50% off her next stay as my apology as this is the first time anyone has ever had a challenging experience like this here. I also followed up with the other guest that Monica referenced and this was her response to Monica's depiction of her "frustration and difficulties": "That's rather over dramatic and actually not really true either! I hate being dragged into other people's own issues but feel responsible that through my own sharing of my emotions before I had processed them I created my own involvement so would be happy to share my experience with you. It just so happens that actually as usual the universe worked in the perfect way it always does and I'm very happy the way it all turned out! " As a result of this situation I am crafting a website to make all information about Pondok Rama SUPER explicit so this kind of confusion won't arise again.
The reservation was canceled 71 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Yogis gem was the perfect place for me. The photos do not do it justice, from the moment you go through the front door you realize you are in your own paradise. Its peaceful, private and it has the must amazing feel to it. Christabel is just beautiful she makes you feel most welcome and has an incredible love of life that radiates from her. The villa is situated in a lovely area, the walk to and from the road is just beautiful, along pathways through rice fields. I will always have amazing memories of my stay here.
