The Space

The Hillcrest Hideaway is a two unit vacation rental and this is what we call 'the Snug" or the lower unit. Features inclue a 1 bed 1 bath studio apartment (accessed via an outdoor private stair case going down 10 stairs) located in the lush hills of Sonoma in a beautiful wooded neighborhood!. . cozy (yes its small but not tiny), its a private place with its own entrance and gorgeous private surrounding gardens for your exploring. . . .; kitchenette-fridge and sink with complimentary coffee service, wifi, pets welcome with prior approval, and did we mention the price! One night stays are encouraged! The Hideaway has 6 foot 6 inch ceilings - I am six feet tall and I fit with inches to spare quite nicely! Its not for the super tall, nor is it for larger sized people as the showers are small too. Its really ideal for what this is - a one to two night hideaway! Includes a washer dryer! Its a little like a wine cellar with windows in that its built into the hillside so it stays naturally cool in the warm summers here in Sonoma. Can be rented in conjunction with the upper unit if it is available, a full kitchen one bed one bath home with wonderful views from a great wood deck.

Stay a night - stay a few days! Perfect for last minute visits. . .

10 minutes from Sonoma Plaza up highway 12.

Check In
  • We stayed here for two nights. It was wonderful and very quiet. Very good to explore the region.

  • We enjoyed staying at "the snug". It was small but perfect for our needs. Great location in a beautiful quiet neighborhood. Checking in and out were extremely easy and very convenient. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The ceilings were low and the shower stall was small - only had enough room to turn around but we didn't mind. We would definitely stay at "the snug" again.

  • We had a lovely stay at the Snug. Yes, the ceilings were low, but that was as advertised and it wasn't a problem. After a day of wine tasting, it was nice to come back and enjoy some snacks and a bottle on the very sweet private patio. We made a fairly last minute reservation and Joe got back to us within a matter of minutes which was fantastic. We would definitely recommend, especially for those under 6 ft. Great access to downtown Sonoma and wineries.

  • Nice cosy spot for our short stay in Sonoma. Clean and quiet, and within good striking distance of Sonoma town where we wine-tasted around the plaza. Would stay again. Thanks Joe!

  • I had a lovely stay at The Snug. This was a quick weekend getaway from the city and this apartment was exactly what I was looking for. Joe was a friendly and very accommodating host, very easy to work with and responds to emails very quickly. The Snug is a cozy and peaceful place on the hillside, a quick drive from many restaurants. The apartment was clean and comfortable. You can tell Joe put a lot of thought into making this place welcoming and even has the entrance pathway/stairs lit at night. There is plenty of parking right outside. I look forward to coming back!

  • Cute room that looked out onto a private deck with lots of greenery and trees.
    Close to downtown Sonoma square.

  • Nice "snug" spot in a very quiet residential area. Only wish the wifi worked here.. It may hard to get any connection since cell service is low throughout much of this region. Otherwise we had a enjoyable stay!

  • Everything was exactly as detailed in the description. Private and cozy, we weren't there too much but we slept comfortably and taxi knew right where to go. Joe was able to accommodate us a bit early so we could get ready for a wedding nearby. Only thing we were missing was a long mirror to see our wedding outfits come together!

  • Joe's place was exactly what we needed: a place to spend one night in Sonoma. The property was peaceful, the apartment was clean and everything we needed was provided for. The location was very close to downtown Sonoma and, of course, close to many wineries.
Joe was very gracious, and although I didn't meet him in person, we communicated over email, and he was happy to recommend wineries and restaurants. He also promptly returned my call when I couldn't find the key to get into the apartment.
I'd definitely recommend staying here, and would stay again myself if visiting Sonoma in the future.

  • The host was very prompt and helpful with booking and in responding to any questions I had. The Snug is a great little hideaway, parking was never a problem, and the bed was very comfortable. The ceiling is a bit low, so anyone who is over 6 feet would have problems feeling comfortable. Additionally, the shower is small, so again, anyone who is larger would find it uncomfortable, but all needs were provided for. Overall the stay was very nice and very comfortable for the price.
