I had a wonderful stay at the little studio, which is very bright and light and airy, with a comfortable bed. I would recommend bringing a sleep mask or something if bright mornings aren't your thing, though. Kerstin and her husband were very welcoming. The kitchen contains anything needed, with lots of cooking stuff left over from other guests, so no need to go and buy the essentials. The studio is very clean. The sofa on the terrace is very comfortable to start the day, having breakfast and looking at the ocean. It's very quiet, I didn't even consciously hear any roosters, which is a first for Hawaii. A grocery store is only a couple of miles down the road, Pahoa town proper about 9 miles up the road. The Southern coast of Big Island is beautiful, with an incredibly lush green forest, tide pools (great for snorkeling), black sand beaches, and big lava fields. Loved my time there, and only wish I could have staid longer.
If You are looking for a place that is off the beaten path yet close to some amazing sights, this is the place for You. The apartment was perfect for my husband and I and within driving distance to a market, thermal pool, best snorkeling on the island, and such gems as the Champagne Pool. Seeing the ocean from the front window every morning was spectacular!
Robert and Gigi were very hospitable, definitely will be back if we visit the island again. We also loved that the apartment used solar power and a cistern with water catchment, less impact on the environment.
I had the most incredible time possible! Kerstin and Robert were amazing hosts. They're were very thoughtful and accommodating. I would come back a million times over!
Every last detail throughout the studio made me feel right at home. Lots of comforts and directions to great local spots! It's right on the beach and the ocean waves rocked me to sleep;) great beaches near by!
They knew where everything was and provided great conversation!
Thank you guys so much! For making our trip so extraordinary! You are such beautiful people!
We were worried about being able to find the place but it was actually really easy if you remember the picture. When we arrived Gigi was there and super nice. She gave us some great advice of some things to see and do in the area, a long with some advice about seeing Kilauea that made it really awesome. We really loved the area, and it is a bit far from the beaten path but we wanted it that way!
