Central, cosy & clean room in a city apartment; located on Franklin St side of the Queen Victoria Market.

The Space

The guest room is a single room in a two-bedroom apartment. Ideal for a short stay for one person. The apartment is furnished with a mix of modern & vintage design. Shared bathroom, living area and kitchen.

Guest Access

All your necessities are provided. A simple breakfast, tea/coffee and fruit are all available everyday for you to help yourself. Bath towel, toiletries (shampoo, conditioner and body wash), wireless internet, cooking facilities, iron/ironing board, washer/dryer, hairdryer, international adaptor, heater/air-con, maps and city guide books are all available in the apartment. A guest Myki card (for Melbourne public transport) is available for you to use, just top up with credit as you go.

Interaction with Guests

You will be sharing the apartment with your host. During the week I work nearby in the city. On weekends, my schedule is pretty varied but I'm usually out and about. If I'm not at the apartment and there's anything you need to ask or tell me, please message, call or leave me a note and I'll try to help. Don't hesitate to ask me questions about Melbourne and anything that you are interested to find out about, I'll try to answer. You might also meet my friends, family if they are stopping by.

Please note that I work office hours, so check-in times are around these hours. I'll always check these times are ok before accepting bookings. If you already know your arrival and departure times when making an enquiry, it is very helpful to include this information (and flight number if applicable).

The Neighborhood

Currently (June 2014) there is construction occurring next door which can be noisy during weekdays. I am offering a discounted rate at $55 p/night for the inconvenience.

Franklin St is in the vibrant heart of Melbourne city, but also very close to the inner-city cool of North Melbourne, Carlton & Fitzroy. An array of restaurants, cafes & bars are all a short walk or tram ride away.

Note for location: Depending on airbnb interface I have noticed my map moves. The apartment building is on Franklin St (between Queen St and William St), Melbourne. Directly facing the Queen Victoria Market from the southern side.

Getting around

Flagstaff station (weekdays only) is around the corner. Southern Cross and Melbourne Central are a short 10-15 min walk. Tram stops for various lines on the tram network are under 5 min walk. There is a stop for the free City Circle tram on Latrobe St and also a stop for the Melbourne Tourist (email hidden); all very nearby.

Once we have confirmed your booking a detailed email will be sent to you with instructions on how to get to my apartment from Southern Cross Station (if arriving by Skybus from the airport).

Other Things to Note

To book you will need a verified ID on Airbnb.
Upon arrival I will take a copy of your ID/passport for my own verification and security.

Look forward to hearing from you and hope to see you in Melbourne soon!

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Couldn't have stayed (email hidden). I felt the area was really safe too. I was visiting for the animation festival held on Federation square (also information centre location) so it was only 25 minutes walk through the main streets, saving on tram fares etc. lots of really nice places to eat and literally right next to the Queen Vic market. Great shower in the apartment, decent cooking facilities, washer and dryer and also a little balcony if you prefer to hang your clothes out on a clothes rack. Wei Ai was a lovely hostess and great company. She gave me loads of tips on where to go in the city and was always ready with a book or a map if I wanted more info.

  • I had a lovely time staying at Wei's. Wei is wonderful- super friendly, very accommodating and helpful in every way. She had a stack of all these beautiful Melbourne books that were informative and gives you an idea where to go. The room is perfect for a single person, who (email hidden) to stay, very close to the Queen Victoria market and within walking distance to the rest of CBD. I definitely would not hesitate in staying again at this lovely place.

  • Wei Ai's place is amazing! Super good location, safe and was very warm (: everything you need in a home away from home. Will choose to stay here again if I'm in Melbourne again.

  • Wei Ai's apartment is warm and cosy. The room is very dark and quiet so I slept very well. Conveniently located (email hidden), about a 15 min walk from Southern (website hidden) was very sweet and considerate. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

  • Wei's apartment right in the heart of Melbourne and VIC markets was safe, comfortable, very clean, and ideal for my Melbourne adventure. Easy walking distance to Melbourne Central train and trams are everywhere! I wish Tasmania had such infrastructure. So many eateries that were a welcome change, may have put on some kilos.....
My next stay in Melbourne will certainly enquire as to the availability of this apartment first. Thankyou Wei for your professional hospitality.

  • I absolutely loved staying in Wei Ai's lovely CBD apartment! Unfortunately, I never go to meet We Ai as she was away during my stay, but she was extremely easy to communicate with and had organised pick up of key etc with a friend. Everything ran incredibly smoothly. Wei Ai's apartment is secure and centrally located with Queen Victoria market right on her doorstep! The apartment is clean and very cosy. I had a fabulous time in Melbourne and would definitely stay there again!

  • The appartment is tiny but well set up and in a great location for exploring on foot. The bedrooms have no windows and just frosted glass doors to the living area, so light and noise is shared.

  • What you see is what you get! Wei Ai was fabulous. We had planned to meet at noon for me to collect the key but as I had arrived earlier, she was accomodating and met me at 11am instead and showed me around the apartment before heading back to work.

The apartment and room was quaint and tidy. I didn't spend a lot of time indoors so the room was just nice. QVM is minutes away from the apartment. There's plenty of coffee places around and getting into the city is a breeze.

    Highly recommended! Thanks, Wei Ai!

  • Wei An is delightful -very friendly and easy going. Her apartment is fairly small, but very neat and tidy and located in an ideal location close to the fabulous Queen Victoria Market and the CBD. Lots of public transport nearby. It was a fabulous base especially for accessing town and Carlton.

I live in Melbourne Australia, I work during the week in the city. Interested in travel, yoga, running, creative pursuits. I've used Airbnb as a guest and it is a great alternative to hostel/hotel. Since July 2013, I've started hosting guests in my spare room.
