Welcome to Melbourne! Ideal location to explore Melbourne city, with the Queen Victoria Market at your doorstep. Perfect for a solo traveller!
The guest room is a single room in a two-bedroom apartment. Ideal for a short stay for one person. The apartment is furnished with a mix of modern & vintage design. Shared bathroom, living area and kitchen.
All your necessities are provided. A simple breakfast, tea/coffee and fruit are all available everyday for you to help yourself. Bath towel, toiletries (shampoo, conditioner and body wash), wireless internet, cooking facilities, iron/ironing board, washer/dryer, hairdryer, international adaptor, heater/air-con, maps and city guide books are all available in the apartment. A guest Myki card (for Melbourne public transport) is available for you to use, just top up with credit as you go.
You will be sharing the apartment with your host. During the week I work nearby in the city. On weekends, my schedule is pretty varied but I'm usually out and about. If I'm not at the apartment and there's anything you need to ask or tell me, please message, call or leave me a note and I'll try to help. Don't hesitate to ask me questions about Melbourne and anything that you are interested to find out about, I'll try to answer. You might also meet my friends, family if they are stopping by.
Please note that I work office hours, so check-in times are around these hours. I'll always check these times are ok before accepting bookings. If you already know your arrival and departure times when making an enquiry, it is very helpful to include this information (and flight number if applicable).
Franklin St is in the vibrant heart of Melbourne city, but also very close to the inner-city cool of North Melbourne, Carlton & Fitzroy. An array of restaurants, cafes & bars are all a short walk or tram ride away.
Note for location: Depending on airbnb interface I have noticed my map moves. The apartment building is on Franklin St (between Queen St and William St), Melbourne. Directly facing the Queen Victoria Market from the southern side.
Flagstaff station (weekdays only) is around the corner. Southern Cross and Melbourne Central are a short 10-15 min walk. Tram stops for various lines on the tram network are under 5 min walk. There is a stop for the free City Circle tram on Latrobe St and also a stop for the Melbourne Tourist bus at Victoria market; all very nearby.
Once we have confirmed your booking a detailed email will be sent to you with instructions on how to get to my apartment from Southern Cross Station (if arriving by Skybus from the airport).
To book you will need a verified ID on Airbnb.
Upon arrival I will take a copy of your ID/passport for my own verification and security.
Look forward to hearing from you and hope to see you in Melbourne soon!
I am a clean and respectful person, and I expect the same of my guests.
Please no smoking inside, and no unexpected guests.
I hope you enjoy your stay in my home, and have a great time in Melbourne!
I had an amazing stay with Wei Ai, room is small but the apartment has everything you need for a great city stay. Location is great with the market and central Melbourne just a few steps away. And Wei Ai is lovely, knows Melbourne and happy to help.
It's my first time to use airbnb and it was good! Wei was so kind and explained melbourn city. Also her apartment was clean and tidy and near the Queen victoria market.
Wei Ai is so nice ! When I was out with my friend, she came to me and sent me her keys. So sweet. I love her apartment and the room is comfortable. I will go back next time. Thank you.
Excellent experience. The apartment is clean, safe and well located in the city. Subway station is close as well as mainline trams and buses. The bed is comfortable and the space is perfect for a solo traveler. Wei Ai was accommodating and very helpful. She's well traveled and knows her city. I would definitely stay again next time I'm in Melbourne.
This is my first time staying with a host on AirBnB and I only have 1 word to describe it: Amazing! Wei Ai is very friendly and helpful. She has a stack of different guides and maps available as well as her personal tips on what to do around town and actually personally looked up for info regarding the night market at Queen Victoria's Market. Her apartment was clean, in the middle of everything and there were cereals, fresh fruits, tea and coffee for a quick brekkie before you dash out for adventures. I really enjoyed my stay there with her and would definitely recommend it to anyone who would love to discover Melbourne without having to worry much about lodging, either cost-wise or security-wise. If I come back to Melbourne for a visit I would not hesitate to choose her lovely apartment again.
Wei Ai was great, the check in and welcome went very smoothly. The room etc was exactly as described. Wei Ai was very informative about the area and its attractions. She was a lovely host to be around but also at the same time respected my privacy. The location was fantastic, just opposite Queen Victoria Markets in the centre of Melbourne, literally everything is at your doorstep. The building is modern, only a few years old and very quiet even with building work going on next door. As I was in Melbourne alone for a conference the single room suited me perfectly. Would definitely consider staying there again, thank you Wei Ai.
I had a wonderful (email hidden)'s apartment. My trip in Melbourne started with a friendly face at South Cross station - Wei Ai kindly took time out of her lunch break to pass me the keys there and shared a quick chat over coffee. It is true that Melbourne does make good coffee!
The location is very convenient, with close access to trams and train stations. Alternatively, you can walk to the heart of the city in 20 minutes time, a good way to balance the calories intake from the amount of gourmet food you get in this city. For those who like fresh produce, Queen Victoria Market is just across the street, how great is that?
I had the pleasure to spend my Saturday morning there with Wei Ai, having brunch and visiting ACMI. As if I was hanging out with a friend, I’d highly recommend staying at her lovely apartment. Go ahead with your booking!

I've lived most of my life in Melbourne Australia, I'm originally from Malaysia, have spent some time in the Netherlands in university, worked in the UK and Singapore. Nevertheless, Melbourne is certainly home!
I work during the week nearby in the city. I enjoy practicing yoga, running, planning my next trip (Mexico & Cuba is my next destination - any tips very welcome!), knitting, macrame and trying to grow a garden.
I've used Airbnb as a guest and I think it is a great alternative to hostel/hotel. Since July 2013, I've also started hosting guests in my spare room.
