The Space

The private room is 600 square feet upstairs from main house with private entrance. Comfortable King size bed, desk, and sitting area make up the sleeping space. Ipod stereo and office equipment including WIFI. Full bathroom with shower downstairs includes laundry facilities. Towels and linens provided.

Photos of our beautiful neighborhood (deer) and great walking on trails and dirt roads in nearby Bass Lake. All seasons are wonderful in our mountain community. Each month has special events in town and in Yosemite. Very quiet evenings with only crickets, frogs, and coyotes talking. Star gazing a must do. Bird Watchers report below - bring your binoculars.

There are a variety of restaurants - Italian, Steakhouse, Cajun, Japanese, Chinese, Mexican, Fast Food, Fish House, Brewery, Hamburger/Cafes at Bass Lake (3 miles from home). Small gift shops and clothing stores along Highway 41 in Oakhurst. Two large food markets in Oakhurst - Vons and Raleys. No public transportation.

My house is always full of love with family and friends. I enjoy having company and learn about other parts of the world.

  • Our stay with susan was really great. We were warmly welcomed. The room was very nice, clean and huge. Susan also provide great advice what to do in yosemite so that we could make the best of our two days there. Also breakfast was great and we felt like home with Susan and Rich. Definetly recommend to stay there.

  • We loved staying with Susan and Rich. Their home was large and beautiful and the night sky was glorious. They did many small caring touches - cereal choices for breakfast and the use of the porches when we were relaxing as well as great breakfast conversation. We'd love to come back!

  • Emerveillement en arrivant dans les lieux tant par la maison que par l'hôtesse toujours prête à rednre service et avec qui nous avons beaucoup échangé. La chambre doit faire plus de 40 m² et il y fait bon vivre. L'environnement est superbe.

  • The long awaited mini-getaway that my hubby and I had been wanting to take for months came to perfect fruition in Oakhurst, CA. With the grand excitement of Yosemite and Mariposa Grove in mind, we had minimal expectations about our accommodations (as we typically do with hotels)--- after all, Tequila Gulch was just supposed to be a place to rest our heads after long days of exploring the sites of Sierra National Forest. Well, we were in for a wonderful surprise! Now, where to start this review... Susan was such a gracious host, together with her equally nice partner Rich and her sweet four-legged "baby" Peanut Butter. Half of the beauty and charm of this property lies in the people who give it life as a property is simply a reflection of the kind of people that inhabit it. Susan and Rich gave us such a warm welcome upon arrival despite having arrived a tad bit earlier than expected. Susan was very helpful with tips on how to get around Yosemite, suggestions on spectacular less-known hikes, and places to eat were spot on. The property is well cared for, the private suite is very, very spacious (loved the King bed and work desk), with the nicely-appointed bathroom conveniently found at the bottom of the stairs. Breakfast spread was healthy, varied, delicious and ready very early (perfect for early risers like me) and we had water and granola bars in a welcome basket upon arrival too! Susie's beautiful mosaic art abounds inside the house while nature's generous bounty flourished outside. The patio/backyard was my favorite spot with its open deck, a perfect spot to view visiting deers and birds plus trees as far as the eyes could see. The Spa was a perfect end to long hikes at Yosemite. But by far the best feature among the many I can talk about is the peace and quiet of Susan's place--- with only birds chirping in the AM, crickets/cicadas at night, and in my humble opinion the Gulch's pièce de résistance: the explosion of stars overhead all aglow at night. Stargazing at its finest. If it were up to us, I would be writing this review a week later...3days/2nights was just too short! :-) But alas, reality beckons and we had to head back to our real lives. The only consolation about leaving Susan's little piece of heaven, it's that her ranch is just an easy 4 hour drive from Los Angeles. We will be back, that we are sure of. You will notice a plaque in Susan's home that reads: "Enter as Guests, Leave as Friends"... a very common saying but never more true than with Susan and her "team" at the Gulch. Thank you for having us and sharing your beautiful home, Susan. We look forward to visiting you, our new friends at Oakhurst, soon! :-)

  • Visiting our first Airbnb at the Tequila Glutch was such a wonderful experience. Susan and Rich really raised the bar of expectations for our future Airbnb reservations. The private room is as lovely and bright as the pictures display, their home is warm and very charming with lots of beautiful art pieces as decor. Delicious breakfast each morning, with hot coffee available as early as desired. A must is relaxing on their back porch, complete with mountain backdrop, roses in the garden, as squirrels, deer, and birds all quietly roam for food, it is a little piece of heaven all to yourself. There is a Jacuzzi, but it is kept at 98 degrees, we like ours 102. Before leaving town, stop at Judy's Donuts and visit Bass Lake. Susan and Rich, we sure enjoyed our conversations over coffee and dinner. Such a pleasure to meet you both!

  • We stayed w Susie for 3 nights, driving to Yosemite two days in a row. Her house is very clean and a 5 min drive to the restaurants and shops of Oakhurst. The room was air-conditioned, comfy and BIG! Breakfast each morning included fruit, juice, coffee, toast and cereal, a great bonus! Susie is SO welcoming and helpful, made sure we knew where we were going, gave us Vitamin water before a day of hiking in Yosemite. Even let us borrow beach towels and water shoes! Thanks Susie for the warm welcome.

  • We had a great time with Susan and Rich in Oakhurst. They have a beautiful house, and the private room set-up is perfect. It is above the garage, so you don't hear any noise from the house, and the bathroom is conveniently located right at the bottom of the stairs from the bedroom. Susan and Rich were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Rich has interesting stories from his time living in Denmark, and Susan makes a delicious German pancake for breakfast. There's also a hot tub kept at just the right temperature. This was out best airbnb experience so far!
